I went visit Erik (@erikelite) to get my natural dark black/brown hair dyed to Ash Blonde. I did two session to achieve this look, since I don't intent to fry my hair in one session. My hair is thick, wavy and takes forever to turn. So I was glad he was patient my hair. I've been a fan of Erik since his days as a student in beauty school. I can tell he was talented as heck from the Instgram (IG) photos. So then he became a teacher at the school after he graduated and now here he is moving on the next phase of his career. I always planned to get my hair done with him since day one when I saw his IG. So, I finally did it and made the appointment. He cut and got my hair to where I felt like I was a IG Baddie model but for reals I'm just a cool mom. Its hard for someone like my hair type to get to lift and change my hair color in 2 to 2.5 hours. I went somewhere else a few years ago it took me about 4 ish hours to get lift enough where I can go a pinkish tone. My hair was sad as f after that. SIDENOTE: This was the 2nd session I did to achieve this look. I am not trying to kill my hair in one session and I knew it will take time to go light. I was willingly to pay for my hair. You have to gradually lift your hair to get it lighter before it turns to what you want. 1 Session in Sept. and 2nd session was in Nov. But you won't regret it and it's worth with Erik. read more

I was VERY disappointed with my stylist who came recommended by a friend. Not only did I call the stylist immediately after she cut my hair to convey my disappointment...she basically was too busy checking herself out in the mirror every opportunity she had and not focusing on cutting my hair the way I explained to her...but she actually told me that my hair will be okay once I wash due to her applying a heavy conditioner on my hair. Again, not wanting to listen to what I had to say but contributing my dissatisfication with the rationale of a product she had applied. After washing my hair and getting the same results, I called the salon to book another appointment only to be told it would take three weeks to reschedule. I asked for a refund but was told the salon did not grant refunds. The front desk person (Carly) was very rude and incompetent. I would not recommend this salon to anyone. Unfortunately, I thought the location of the salon was perfect and a place that I could easily commute to and then enjoy either a bite to eat after my appointment or stroll the Vancouver Farmer's Market if appointment was scheduled on a weekend. I find that if a salon is not willing to rebook an appointment immediately after being contacted about a cut that was not satisfactory or willing to provide a refund is not showing good business practice. read more

If you're wanting to make a dramatic transformation to your look, you're looking for Mariam! I had initially made an appointment with her to see how long/how many sessions it would take to get me from a few layers of dark brown box dye with several inches of my natural red roots to a bright natural blonde without frying the ever living out of my hair. I figured at least 3 visits. Nope!! I left looking like Elle Woods!! Mariam is so dedicated and educated on her craft, we came up with a plan and she executed it better than I could have ever imagined. She has an awesome eye for modern looks and does a great job of adding your personality into the style you're looking for. She stayed late finishing everything up and was as excited as I was to see the end result. I gave her full creative control with my loose idea of what I wanted, and she made sure to let me know of what she was doing with every step. In the end she absolutely killed it, and I'm feeling like a superstar! The studio itself is so cute and comfortable (and clean!), the lobby offers Keurig coffee and tasty sweet pastries, and I love that it's right across the street from Esther Short Park. It gives you a lot to look at while you're waiting for your dye to set or color to lift! 10/10 will most certainly be going back for any and all of my beauty needs. read more

I have been going back and forth with Galina for several years now. I do have a hairdresser whom I go to since I was a kid and always feel like I'm cheating on her. Just recently I needed to get my hair done for an event but my hairdresser was booked and I didn't have much time to get to her. I reached out to Galina who was able to get me in the same day and only to find out it was her day off. She gave me a brand new look and I have never been so happy. I have received So many compliments at work and on the street. One of the best cuts and colors I had by far. A quick short story from long ago. In the past I use to mess with my hair so much that it became so brittle and damaged. No hairdresser was able to fix it. I ran to Galina and all I can remember is that she gave me a long talk about how she really cares for my hair and was able to fix what she could only to leave me feeling beautiful with an adorable haircut and fresh color that could grab onto my damaged hair at the time. I am a new fan of Parkwest Studio. It's a great location in downtown with a fresh vibe. Mariam is the best stylist I've ever had. I am a low maintenance lady who used to get my hair cut every 6 months and would usually leave the salon with whatever the stylist wanted, usually "The Rachel". My hair went from straight to wavy to curly in my early twenties and seems to get curlier every year. Over the last few years I realized that it takes a special, committed stylist to cut it into any respectable shape, and Mariam is that stylist. I have been seeing her exclusively for well over a year and am so thankful for her work. She does a great job with the cut and really pays attention to what I ask for, remembers my preferences, and truely listens. I also enjoy getting my hair colored about once a year and she did a fantastic job last year. Can't wait for this summer's new balyage look! When it comes to my hair I am the type of person to change it up often! This past summer I decided to chop off all may long long long hair and so super short. When deciding where to go I was referred to Park West and Galina to get my hair done and completely styled in a new fun edgy Pixy cut. Galina did such a great job that I continue to go to her despite a long commute. You see when I cut off all my hair I was visiting my family in Vancouver. I actually live in Seattle! So...yes I drive almost 4 hours and have my hair done by Galina at Parkwest! I am often in town for many other reasons, but I wouldn't want to go anywhere else to have my hair done! ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC!!! I called Parkwest last minute and lucky for me Jessie Hafer had a cancellation. I asked about her experience; "she's young but great. Does make-up and hair for film productions." I was sold and was there in 20 minutes. All my past salon experiences have been HORRIBLE but with Jessie I was immediately at ease. She spent over three hours on my hair and ABSOLUTELY EVERYONE thinks it looks great. Jesse has a beautiful personality and a kind soul. I live in South Lake Tahoe but will follow Jesse anywhere. I go to LaRae Hogue at Parkwest Studio in Vancouver, and she is the best. I followed her from her last place to Parkwest because she has always been the best with my hair. She has taken care of my daughter and granddaughters' hair needs as well. She is reasonably priced, easy to visit with, always fun, knows my hair and suggests the best products for it. She is always ready for my appt when I get there, and I think I've only waited one time in all the years I've gone to her. Parkwest Studio is also much nicer than the last place. I am thrilled with the haircut I received from Mariam at Parkwest Studio. This was my first haircut at the salon and with Mariam. It is the best cut I have had in years. First, let me say i have a very short, layered haircut. Mariam spent a great deal of time asking questions about what i liked and did not like about my hair before giving me an incredibly relaxing, massaging wash. In total she spent an hour and a half with me and asked questions along the way as well. She is sweet, professional, and delightful! Scheduling with Mariam was very easy and she promptly responded. Mariam did such an amazing job on my hair! I was skeptical that anyone would be able to fix what my hair was like. I had dark, nearly black chunks of hair mixed with reddish brown and light brown pieces. Mariam completely saved me! She did everything she could to make sure my hair looked as good as I wanted it to and she explained everything she did along the way which made me really trust her. She gave me a gorgeous balayage and you can't even tell how damaged my hair was before because of the treatments she did for my hair. Mariam has been my go-to hair stylist now for over a year since I first saw her. She was able to fix my orange hair after I had box dyed it red too many times. First, we went to a partial highlight ombre. Then we went ahead and did a full highlight balayage and toned down to cooler colors. I love it and keep going back for more. She takes the time to listen to your wants and honestly answers any questions you may have. It is clear she is passionate about her work. I started using Larae over 6 years ago, and I couldn't be more thankful that I found her. She was at a different studio in Portland and I followed her to her new studio. I drive from Beaverton to get my hair done in Vancouver now because she is such an artist and Parkwest Studio is a fantastic place! I see LaRae at Parkwest and she is amazing! I've been going to her for about 6 months and can't wait each time my appt comes up. She's the queen of blonde coloring and her portfolio of blonde balayage was what led me to book with her in the first place. I can confidently say my hair turns out great every time.
