This was absolutely the best apartment we have ever lived in. The management was very nice and attentive, I loved the rooftop deck with patio furniture and grills, and I miss the time my husband and I spent by the fireplace in the clubhouse with the complimentary coffee and tea. They also have a gym, which is small, but wasn't heavily used so I rarely had to wait for a machine I wanted. They had fun resident parties, as well. The location is amazing in downtown Milwaukee. You only have to walk half a block to get into the skywalk system. If you want to take transit, almost all of the bus lines stop along Wisconsin Ave. within a block or two. I worked in Mequon and took the Ozaukee County express to work. My husband was a graduate student at UWM and took the express bus to school. Also, the underground parking was an incredible asset to us, because we started our family here and could go from underground parking to underground parking in the winter without having to bundle our baby. Our apartment had an amazing view of downtown and the lake! The high ceilings made the space feel very spacious and open. We never heard our neighbors, but we were on the 9th (top) floor. You may want to pay attention to where your unit is, because some people complained about construction noise from the parking garage across 4th st. However, it is probably over by now because that was over a year ago. The appliances were basic, but we mostly ate out anyway. I think you can get units with upgraded appliances if you want it.

She is friendly, attentive and courteous. Any issue, whether it be maintenance or other it is addressed right away. The apartments themselves are unique and beautiful. Boston Lofts is also very convenient to walk to bars and to festivals downtown such as Jazz in the Park. I am writing this review because I am moving out of state and even though I am moving I am still receiving TOP level service. They are letting moving companies into my apartment to show it so they can get estimates for me while I'm out of town. That is hard service to find when you're moving out. This may sound fake, but it is not. It truly was that amazing of a place and if I ever move back to Milwaukee I would not hesitate to live there again. I will miss it!

The staff has been changed and I might say, this is indeed a long needed necessity. The apartments are pricey and rent raised every year a hefty amount. Maybe a few glitches but that is normal for anywhere. You deal with it and get over it. It is mostly all positive. The facilities are really nice in the prairie style architecture and the up keep and cleaning of the buildings are very good. The location is amazing on the western edge of downtown Waukesha, therefore within walking distance of the library and all of the downtown amenities of restaurants, galleries, shopping, farmers market in summer, and discount liquor, etc. The views from all apartments overlooks the Fox River and Bethesda Springs Park. It is an amazing calming place to live. This also gives opportunity for lots of trail walking or jogging or bicycling. There are 5 separate buildings which means you only have about 30 other units in your building so they are basically very quiet. It is a mix of seniors or singles or young couples/partners/roommates. But we have had no noise in our unit. Very quiet!! We have been very impressed and happy living here and if it was not of our need to go into a senior facility, we would continue to live here as we really enjoy it. The property is well kept with the summer landscaping crew, as well as the winter snow clearing crew which is right on top of any snow fall. We enjoy the heated lower level parking garage and the recycling dumpster is there too. The trash dumpsters are out back. Dogs are allowed on the 1st floor and cats on any floor. We have had no issues with either. Maintenance is right there if any issue arises in your unit or if you point out some issue on the property. The maintenance technician is very knowledgeable and will accommodate you and fix anything you need. All the staff is VERY pleasant and agreeable and provides at least a Christmas party and summer grill out party each year. There is also Bunko 2 times a month. The community center is available to rent for your private parties. This is one of the best and enjoyable units we have been in since we sold our house. D and D

We put money down to hold our spot and as we were driving away a man from a showing I had canceled called to insist we come look at his brand new townhouses on Humboldt. We did, and were wowed, but loved the character at JHL and told the owner of the townhouse no thank you. I took the weekend to think about it and after crunching numbers/pros cons, I changed my mind only because: 1) Price. It would have cost between $4-5k more (than our other option) to live at JHL over two years factoring in parking, ALL utilities (even trash), and some nonrefundable amenities/pet fees. 2) Convenience. JHL Only has surface lot parking (not covered), which costs $80/month. Our other option had two attached garage spots included in the price of rent. 3) Location. I didn't love the feel of the neighborhood. I know Walker's Point has a lot of great restaurants etc. but it didn't feel like a place I'd feel comfortable walking the dog/running at. 4) Some minor cons: utilities would probably be ridiculous at JHL because of the huge windows/very large size of the unit we were interested in, electric range instead of gas range (as someone who cooks almost every night, that was something I really wasn't looking forward to), stand up showers instead of bathtubs. All that being said, the unit we were wanting to rent was incredible. 18-foot ceilings, tons of natural sunlight, great views, incredible warehouse character -- all concrete, exposed ductwork, expansive loft windows. It had in-unit laundry and a dishwasher, both of which are non-negotiables for me at this point in my life. Shaina, the person who represented JHL and showed us the space, was incredibly kind, prompt in her responses, and wonderful to work with. She was also flexible when we were trying to negotiate rent based on being willing to sign a longer lease. After we changed our minds, she returned half of our application fee, even though it was pretty clear at the time we paid it we would not be getting it back if we were approved and decided not to live there. She waited for me to move and then mailed it to my new address. I was really impressed with that customer service. I'm still sort of sad we didn't live there even though I love our new place. Our new place is brand new with awesome amenities and I really love the neighborhood, but there's just something about the character of a loft.

It's the third apartment I've lived in and I've never felt more at home here. It's a safe neighborhood and the complex has great amenities. The pool and hot tub are great in the summer, and the fitness center is great year-round. I haven't yet gotten the chance to go in the main building due to COVID-19, but haven't found the need to at this time. Whenever we have needed maintenance, they've been there. The longest wait was one, maybe two, days. I truly commend them on their job. It depends on their workload, but I had a low-priority issue that was taken care of in less than two hours from when I submitted the work order. I can't think of one issue that we've encountered here. I'll most certainly be staying here until I purchase a home. Take reviews from years ago lightly. Whatever was an issue prior has certainly been resolved.

The management was difficult to deal with when moving out and now I got a call from a collection agency telling me I owe more money to them even after they kept my security and the apartment was only vacant one month after I left. No letters or itemized bill was sent to me since I've left. No communication at all until I got a call from the Collection agency. Do not rent from these people. Besides the obvious major roach infestation, people complain constantly of VERY thin walls and being treated like children by the office management.

The units are clean, modern, nicely appointed, and well-kept. Possibly one of the best things about this place is the management. They really get to know you on a personal level, without being nosy. You can call the office and they will know who you are when you say your name, even though they manage 5 buildings of around 30 units each. They are very reasonable about move in and move out needs, in terms of needing to move in early. They will pro-rate you for the extra days. They also allow month-to-month if you need to do that. There is a grace period for rent. The management is on-site in the office every day from 8am - 8pm, except Sundays I believe they are either gone or leave early. This is super helpful if you get locked out or have an issue you need addressed RIGHT NOW. They allow 2 pets - 2 cats, 2 dogs, or 1 of each. Dogs must be under a certain size and weight. The other tenants are quality folks, although there's always someone who will get on your nerves. Most everyone is friendly though! There aren't really any people who do obnoxious things like blast loud music. The buildings may have a tiny bit of a water seepage issue down in the parking garages below, but it's never been a problem. They keep dehumidifiers running in the storage lockers. The units themselves are fine. If we weren't planning to buy a house we'd be staying here! Nice place.
