The only lazy river that is dedicated for adults to walk in for exercise (that I am aware of). They close off the pool to kids and tubing every two hours so adults can walk in the pool. Birds chirp in the woods next to you while you walk in sparkling water with beautiful flowers in the garden next to you. It is truly relaxing. You can use handheld aqua dumbbells while walking for resistance. Walk against the current or with the current. Be sure to bring your aqua sneakers Nice facilities, showers and lockers (bring your own towels and lock). A family plan is around $450 for the summer. Good for exercise during the summer. Open to Great Neck residents only, I believe. They also have an ice skating rink and tennis courts, also at extra cost. read more

The review is for the ice skating rink: I find their ice skating rink big in comparison to any other park facilities. The rink is neat and clean. The bleachers area are located right after the entrance . Special awards and trophies are displayed on the left back side of the rink upon entry. There is a special spot for watchers on the right back side that I found very warm as it has a heating vent on top. The big room where rentals and lockers located has also wide lounge area next to a fireplace and has enough numbers of seats and table tops for those interested to partake snacks and drinks from a food stand nearby. There is an event party room for those interested to held a special celebration on this place. The shop and the office are closed during my visit but definitely offer program and things that maybe interesting to any guest. Have I mentioned this place was Sarah Hughes prep home rink prior going to Olympics? Location is not far from where I live. Admission fee is at regular pricing. Has big parking space. The ice rink is so wonderful,and the ice is the best one in the area. My son started learning how to skate in this rink , he starts learned how to play hockey here as well, we spend a lot of time in this beautiful rink , really enjoy it most of time . We celebrated my son's 10 years birthday weeks ago , I spend a lot of money, but it's too crowded made kids can't play well, and the waitress didn't offer the best service, I believe they only need a little more detail management. read more

I haven't frequented many indoor ice skating rinks overall but i can say while this one is a smaller, local rink so the plus is it's not that crowded. It's the local hockey rink for this neighborhood and the school's hockey team. They have some accolades on display. The lines to pay for admission and to get rentals move fairly quick. They keep a clean space and seem very organized. I have been here numerous times but this weekend was the first for a child's birthday party. The kids were allowed free skate time for about an hour before they served food in the back party room. I liked that the whole place was outfitted for skates so you didn't have to take it off inside or outside the rink. The foods served were all fried but good quality. The chicken fingers were moist. The chicken wings were crisp and served with blue cheese dip. And the mozzarella sticks were not too cheesy. They provided marinara sauce to dip as well. This was the adult food to share. The kids were given a choice of pizza or chicken nuggets. Both served with a side of fries. Plenty of drinks offered, apple juice in a pitcher, sodas in a pitcher, and water. There were about 15 kids in total. Each one enjoyed their food. The restrooms are clean and well kept. There's plenty of seating space for the changing of footwear to skates. There's even TV's in the area for viewing. My only comment, I was surprised they didn't spray the insides of the ice skates (deodorizer or some foot spray) as they are rentals, when we returned them. They did wipe dry the blades to avoid rust. Go figure. This place is a great hang out and inexpensive to bring the family for some recreation time. I'd recommend coming to skate and enjoying the cool music they play. read more

The ice skating rink is great here! It's about the size of an average hockey rink, but they also have bleachers around the rink (with heating!) for parents and non-skaters to wait on. They have a separate room where you can get rental ice skates, with chairs to sit on as you lace up. It's a nice spot for ice skating with family and friends. Today was the first time that I went ice skating with a friend and I would recommend the park wood sport complex to anyone like families friends and other people who live in the great neck area. The sports complex has a lot of history for example Sarah Hughes skated there and she won the gold medal at the winter games and her sister skated there too. Anyways they have a food court and the ice rink is big and they have lockers to put your stuff in. So anyways I give 5 stars. read more

Today I attended the ice rink at the Parkwood Sports Complex for an ACHA Division III hockey game between WCSU and King's Point and had an overall positive experience. I did not enter or explore any other facilities at the complex. To start, ice rinks are not exactly known for their time management but this evening's 8:00 game saw its first period puck-drop promptly at 8:11, following warmups and the playing of the national anthem. The very well-maintained ice surface was cut already when I entered the rink at 7:55. We love a rink that's ready to go on time. For your food options, PSC has a snack shack and substantial accompanying seating area to the right when you walk through the main entrance. The quality of soft pretzels is often low, but I still look forward to eating one when I attend sporting events at a venue where there is a snack shack. Unsurprisingly, the snack shack was NOT open at all during my time at the Parkwood Sports Complex tonight. There was a man in the seating area who gave me updates on the Devils vs Canadiens game each time that I passed by to use the bathroom. I'm not sure if he was an employee or not but I'm grateful nonetheless. I would still appreciate the snack shack's being open, though I brought Twizzlers so it was not the end of the world. For the first and third period, I sat at ice level in a rinkside bar chair to better view WCSU in the offensive zone. The chair was fairly comfortable, the view was perfect (with the exception of many puck marks all over the glass, though not a big deal) and there were heaters hanging over the chairs in order to keep spectators a bit warmer. For the second period, I seated myself in the "warm room" on the opposite side of the rink, which is elevated one floor higher than the ice surface. The view was great, although it's difficult to see any action behind the closer goal, directly below you. The room is not labeled or advertised as a "warm" room but the appearance and location within the rink is similar to warm rooms in other rinks that I have visited in the past. I was disappointed to find that the warm room is seemingly multiple degrees colder than inside the rink itself, but this is more an error in my expectations. One HUGE positive from my trip today, was the relative cleanliness of the restrooms. We are not talking about 5-star hotel level spotlessness, but the standard for cleanliness in ice rink bathrooms is extremely low. Fortunately, PSC is above that standard. In conclusion, the Parkwood Sports Complex is a fine place to attend a hockey game. I'm sure the snack shack is open more often during the day, and the warm room's lack of "warm" is not too bothersome as the rink is not uncomfortably cold and I already mentioned there are heaters above the in-rink seating. I wore a light jacket over a hoodie, and was not very cold inside the rink. Bathrooms are far from gag-worthy (although, I didn't check out the women's room). If you are visiting PSC for the first time, a GPS will get you there quite easily and the parking lot is both large and located very close to the rink's entrance/exit. Happy hockey days! read more

Summer pool review: I've been coming here for more than a decade. The lifeguards get more and more vicious every year. Not a minute goes by that you don't hear a whistle and a yell. And they yell about inane, useless rules that don't exist in any other pools. Half the time, the lifeguards are on their phones, too. They do have a lazy river that I love coasting through, but they blast advertisements through the speakers that you swim past that fully ruin the experience. read more

This is a fun rink to skate in the winter. They keep the ice clean and it's a spacious venue. The locker room and food area is roomy and warm if you are not skating. The pro shop is great. We have purchased skates here as well as periodioc blade sharpening and some skate outfits accessories. Tara and Phil are awesome, they know what they are doing and offer good suggestions in maintaining upkeep of your equipment. The staff is really nice. You can take group or private lessons at competitive prices. The teachers, like anything else, vary so you can watch them or ask around. We were very happy with the one we had. The public sessions are fun. I've been to a few venues but we always end up back here. read more

Been a while since we've been here. They've done a lot of work fixing the place up. New pro shop and the waiting area is clean with food, vending machines and a TV. The format of the rink isn't idea for watching games. The stands are right behind the players bench. So it's really hard to enjoy watching the games. Most people end up watching the games standing at the ends of the rink. It's a fairly cold rink, so standing at the end where the glass doors allows you to sneak outside to warm up or into the lobby to grab a cup of coffee. :) read more

We skated for a bit and when returned to the room, we ate lunch (pizza and finger foods). Skated a bit more afterwards and ended the day with cake. We had about 50 people that fit in the room with rectangle tables covered with pink table cloths. The food was just ok. It was simple food. The kids liked it, so no complaints here. This is a review for the pool. This is a pool for prisoners, pretty much. Beautiful pool totally killed by the staff. They complain about EVERYTHING!!! You can't have a waterproof phone even in the kiddie pool to take a picture of your kids. You can't even drink water by the pool unless you are in the designated drink and eat area. The staff completely kills all the fun you are supposed to have at the pool. If you don't get yelled at by them at least once a day it's a good day. I understand safety for drowning and running around the pool but after besides that is just plain ridiculous. If I could I would return my membership. Definitely will not get it next year. Rather go somewhere else or to the beach. read more

Really nice place to be in the summer. The pool has a very country club kind of feeling. Unlike some of the reviews here I have found the staff to be professional and overall nice. They do have rules but nothing crazy. On the weekends you hear the whistles go off more often but that's usually when the teenagers are there and the lifeguards need to keep them in line. read more

Pros: Nice setting, good ice, most staff are courteous and friendly. Snack bar has a decent selection of food and the pro shop's skate sharpenings and overall skating/equipment knowledge is AAA+++ Cons: TYPICAL long island town-run facility. If you can find a manager, they always want to point you to someone else. They have countess cleaning and maintenance workers whose "work" consists primarily of hanging out in the lobby, watching television and cruising in their taxpayer-funded vehicles. STAFF COACHES are very aggressive in soliciting private lessons. It is also just my opinion, but I believe figure skating lessons during public sessions should not be allowed, period. I have seen too many coaches/students jumping and picking up their legs and nearly striking other skaters with their sharp/spiked blades. NO PUBLIC HOCKEY. What's up with that? Barely any puckshoots/stick n puck sessions and no open hockey sessions whatsoeverl. They have daily general public skating sessions and public figure skating sessions (Freestyle sessions), that get maybe 10 people. The two or three puck shoots a year that they schedule attract no less than 30 skaters!! Why not add more public hockey to the schedule? RENTAL SKATES are old and shoddy. God only knows when some of them were sharpened last. Insufficient parking. Weekends it is really bad. You will circle the lot forever trying to find a spot. Overall: Nice ice and a pretty location isn't enough to make up for the dreaded way this place is run. Try one of the many other alternative ice rinks on Long Island. read more

We went here for the last weekend before the pool closes for the season. This was actually my first time here. We went to the play ground area of the pool & at least 2 of the lifeguards were extremely rude claiming that section was closed. I asked the supervisor later & it was suppose to be open. One lifeguard was even playing w his phone which is a big no no. I hope the supervisor reads this & will do something to educate his/her staff better! read more
