When I first met Owen I thought of him as a heavily tattooed graphic artist who sported many of his own designs. I loved his whimsical and creative style and cherished the t-shirt he designed for a local ultra marathon, Dizzy Daze. A couple years later, when I was ready to get my own ink, I agonized over where to go to get it done. I then found out from a fellow ultra-runner that Owen was also a tattoo artist! From the moment I stepped into his studio I knew I made the right decision. I wanted something for my calf that reflected my passions: great food, tasty libations and ultra-distance running. His design went way beyond my expectations. I loved the calf so much I had him extend the work up my quad. I then approached him with a more challenging design: rendering my two cats for my shoulder. He captured their personalities perfectly. He is extremely professional and easy to work with, and his studio is filled with fun artwork that takes one's mind off the inevitable pain of getting a tattoo. Today I got my fourth tattoo piece from Owen at Parlor-F. He's amazing. Nobody else has a style like his, which is exactly why I wanted him to create a sleeve for me. Actually, I went in for one particular tattoo I had in mind and now I'm addicted. I guess that makes Owen a drug or something. The Parlor-F environment is possibly my favorite tattoo shop I've been in. No pretense or attitude. It's more like hanging out in an artist studio. I'm sure you can request any music while you're worked on, although I've always been fond of Owen's choices. There's never interruptions by customers since it's not a "walk in" kind of shop. There's no cross-selling of any products and no banter between the artists ('cos it's just Owen!) so you get his full attention. His line work is amazing. Steady smooth lines and solid blacks. I've only started a little bit on the color, but so far that's looking good. I've seen several of his other clients' work and they're all amazing. I had thought about getting a tattoo for years and was unsure of what to get. I had some ideas but I couldn't settle on anything concrete. After talking to Owen about some of my ideas he suggested a number of things. He asked me some questions and based of what I told him, he designed the essence of what I was talking to him about. It was my first tattoo and I couldn't be happier with it. I've since been back 3 other times, one of those times I brought my brother. My brother and I wanted to get matching tattoos and again, neither of us could figure out what to get and in the end, Owen designed another fabulous tattoo. The best thing about Owen's tattoo's are that they are original. His artwork is bold and beautiful. He designed the image for my friend's wedding invitation which turned out amazing. At first I was introduced in the early 90's to Owen for a rescue cover-up on my right shoulder. Who would've known years later that I still travel up to my hometown from Portland to hang out for an afternoon with good ol' Owen and his dog while we continue spreading our collaborative thoughts into his interpretive shapes and colours on my arms, legs, back, and chest...while talking about life and jamming out on great music with little interruption. I just recently flew out to Seattle with my sister to get some of Owen's work on both of us. My sister decided it was time for her first and after milling it over she only wanted Owen to do the work especially with how well my tattoo has lasted. I got my first tattoo from Owen 6 -7 years ago and I am still constantly stopped on the streets and asked if I just got the tattoo and where did I get it.
