My spouse and I went to Walgreen's Davies' pharmacy for several years and were happy with their ability to always have our medications. Since it was across the street from the hospital, we knew that the location was used for servicing out-patient clients. This fall the Davies pharmacy said they were closing/relocating and would transfer our meds to the Walgreen's Diamond Heights location. We stayed with the Diamond Heights Walgreen's until their pharmacy person answering the phone became inpatient with my questions about dosage and hung up on me. That was the final straw, especially since I had been waiting in the phone queue for more than fifteen minutes! We needed a new, full-service pharmacy with pleasant, friendly staff. Thank you Walgreens for your impatience and forcing us out the door. We wanted our new pharmacy to be full-service and have staff who are not burned out from the grind of the industry. Since our primary is at UCSF, we transferred our meds and have no regrets. Due to major construction on Parnassus, the parking can be challenging. We have used the free delivery option at those times when necessary. One of the best parts of picking up our meds is that there's no long lines of people waiting to be next. read more

We just moved to SF and needed a new pharmacy. After searching a few, we decided on Parnassus Heights. Not only is it a great location near our doctor, but the service was exceptional. We had multiple prescriptions to transfer from different pharmacies. Albert answered the phone when I called and asked me to text him all of our information. We have only one very important prescription filled here and we've always received excellent service. Since we don't live in the area, we do pay a little extra to have the medication mailed to us. I usually get my medications through an online pharmacy or Walgreens. My MD requested for me to get on a medication that they have to put together at this pharmacy. She put in the request in the morning and I was able to pick it up in the afternoon. The person behind the counter was nice and told me that the costs will be cheaper if I ordered 2 or 3 months supply, instead of one month at a time. They also said if within SF area, they will deliver the same day, and if out of SF area, they will mail. Great service! read more

I have been trying to get a prescription filled for some time now, and they finally did it! After multiple pharmacies, they filled it in less than 2 hours and sent it through insurance. When I went to pick up the prescription, I forgot the original prescription (i had faxed it in for them to fill) and they said ok, and told me to send it to them. I will definitely be back. I've been filling my specialty Rx prescription for over 4 months and everyone at Parnassus are really nice and efficient. I usually get my prescriptions delivered to me the next day after I called to fill the prescriptions. Recently I filled another prescription and I was a bit paranoid of not getting the prescription on time because I will be out of town for a month. After I explained my situation to Robert, he's really accommodating and I was able to get my prescription timely (YAY!). He was also very patient even after I phoned him multiple times. I tried to use another pharmacy delivery service to get my med filled in time. I started the process about a week before I ran out. The pharmacy didn't tell me they didn't have my med in stock until the very day I needed it despite making it "high priority". Realizing this around 4pm, I frantically called Parnassus Heights since I was in the city and they close the latest. Robert was super efficient getting my prescription transferred there and even offered to stay a couple minutes late so that I could make it in time to pick it up before they closed. Wow! There's a cafe in the same building where I usually get coffee while waiting for me prescription to be filled. I always enjoy going there. My only complaint is that their hours are rather limited. They bill to insurance, take flex spending, call doctors when refills run out, call me back if problem with card on file. And free deliver if you have two or more prescriptions. They stayed open late for me. The man took my info by phone and met me at the curb so I did not have to find parking. Talk about friendly and super service. Open on weekends would be nice. Small pharmacy gives personal customer service. Robert and Albert are extremely helpful and graciously go the extra mile to help get prescriptions approved and filled. During the process of switching my business there due to changes in Rx coverage, they always took extra time to take care of me. Having doctors that don't submit Rx requests correctly or return call regarding refills, does not deter them from trying harder to please the customer. They are fantastic. read more

I've had to receive pet meds from this pharmacy (as directed by my vet) and the pharmacist who called was helpful in explaining how I had to apply (it wasn't in pill form) as well as cautions about not getting it on human skin ...etc. They also offer free delivery which is very convenient. I have no way of comparing with other pharamacies (in terms of value) but for what I'm paying, I really feel like it's a good deal. read more

One hand doesn't know what the other is doing, and it takes forever for them to fill something. They promise they'll call you when it's filled but they rarely do. God help you if you need a medication approved by the state, it'll take over a week for them to correctly submit it, even if it's an emergency. And above all that, they're pretty surly. I've never had a bad pharmacy before, no matter where I lived or in what state, so I kind of assumed that you need to run a tight ship and be professional to be a pharmacy, but apparently there are bad pharmacies, and this is an excellent example of one. read more

This is the best pharmacy anywhere. If I could give six stars I would. They are friendly, knowledgeable, and always willing to go the extra mile. Once the pharmacist/owner delivered my prescription on his way home from work, bringing his kids so they could meet my dogs. Try getting that personalized service from Walgreens or the other chains! They take ownership for all insurance approvals, paperwork, etc. and proactively contact physicians for refills and other consulting needs. All I know is I get my prescriptions when I need them and they take care of all the hassles. There's parking in the building ($4/20 min) plus free delivery ($6 if only one prescription). Can't ask for more - except extended hours. They close at 6:30 pm on weekdays and are not open on weekends. Not a big deal if I plan my needs ahead of time. read more
