When the dentist finally came in, she started a conversation about the high costs of running a dental practice?!? (We had only met one time before this). The dental hygienist however was inexperienced and unsure of herself. She spent 30 minutes poking my gums and telling how much I need a deep cleaning (I was already planning it for the fall) and selling me on additional fluoride treatments. I know this is a business and she is pressured to make more sales, so I tried to let it go...but then the actual 'cleaning' took 10 minutes. Minimal attention to detail and stains and a quick floss. That and the receptionist who sits closest to the door needs a new job where she does not have to interact with anyone. Barista's at the Caribou across the street have less attitude. In the end the place is clean and the dentists are good. When I complained about the lack of a cleaning they said they would not charge me for the visit. Unfortunately they seem to care more about how much they can charge you than giving you good service. Scare tactics/worse case scenarios to push more and more procedures leaves me feeling distrustful. The crazy thing is I need a lot more dental work and I will be spending a lot of money at a dentist over my lifetime.

Dr. Block was friendly but that's is as far as it goes. After he performed UNNECESSARY surgery on…read moremy mouth I ended up with not 1, not 2 but THREE major infections. I spent MONTHS recovering from his !@#@$ work. I ended up with three different abcesses in my mouth, on antibiotics for weeks and then IV antibiotics for several weeks after that. 9 months later I continued to have problems with the area he destroyed. I had a root canal that did not help so finally this summer a wonderful surgeon removed my tooth. I am now left with NO tooth right in front of my mouth (my eye tooth #11). I had to spend $3000 extra to fix his poor work. I had to have additional surgery, tooth removal, a $600 oral appliance to wear for 6 months before i go back in and spend another $2k to have a dental implant placed. When I arrived at Dr. Blocks office the staff did nothing to ensure that risk of infection was minimized. My new oral surgeon had me rinse with an oral antibacterial rinse right before the surgery, for 2 weeks after and oral antibiotics. I was sent home with pain meds, antibiotics and the oral wash. NON of which were provided by Dr. Blocks office. Their finance department that is supposed to obtain prior authorizations for procedures lied to me as well. They told me that my medical insurance would cover the procedure but low an behold they didnt! I have been fighting with a collection agency for several months now for the remaining balance of $570 to Dr. Block as I do not feel I should have to pay this because of all of the pain and suffering I went through. The finance department hung up on me when I explained my situation and how upset I was, instead of trying to resolve it like an adult. I would highly suggest you steer as far away from Dr. Block and his team as possible!
