I'm sad to try this place countless times. I love the product but definitely think their quality of service lacks basic ingredients. The person that took care of my orden was engaged and recommended a few options and her favorite, this came in handy as I wasn't sure what to get. The menu was far and tiny fonts, so she was who I needed in this business. She was the success of this business today then the taste of the food alone side with her kind smile and thirst to help. For these reasons, the gain of the stars. The cashier on the other hand deducted the other 3 stars. This is not the representation of one visit, but so many visits. I don't think the personnel is trained properly, even if they lack good education from their household. I have encountered, bad attitude. I have encountered, loud tone of voice asking "how much tip would you like to leave" while there is a line and others are listening to this. I have encountered, cashiers looking at their phone browsing social media while in standing with my ticket ready to pay for over two minutes. Today was a non-verbal cashier pointing at the screen to avoid telling the total maybe shy of assuming which language to address me in. However after paying and leaving a tip in their bucket...no eye contact nor a thank you. While in USA tipping is a culture and a disrespect move in Japan as they think their service is pride in serving you. This lack of basic standards, flushed down the toilet the years of hard work from the founders and history advertised on their wall as humble family who did strive to make it. A. Was it the hiring? B. The Manager that doesn't train? C. The lack of basic communication in the generation we live in? Or D for all of the above. Sad to stomach. This place has gone downhill. It used to be very good but lately the service is horrible, they all look bored, angry or annoyed. The cashier didn't even look at us once and just stretched out her arm when she told us our total, while she looked behind her, gossiping with a coworker. The breakfast special they have, which comes with eggs, ham or bacon , Cuban toast and cafe con leche... let me just say the plate had more grease than food. The eggs had burnt pieces and were broken into excessively small pieces. The bacon did NOT look at all edible and it was EXTREMELY salty and the toast was a joke. I have been a customer of this bakery for years. The food and service has always been great, but in the past 3 weeks I have had two negative experiences. I came to the bakery on a Sunday morning at around 10 am and went to the counter to ask for guava pastries and I was told that they didn't have any. I asked if they were making some and was told again that they didn't have any. Again today, I came to the same store to ask for tostada Cubana with butter and was told, no we don't have Cuban toast, however the Cuban bread is in plane sight in the storage case in front of me. I told the attendant why she could use the bread I was looking at and she said that the management told them that they couldn't use the Cuban bread to make toast. Don't waste your money here, before this morning last time I came to get a breakfast here was 2 years ago... and I live 5 min away from the place... it took me so long to come back because last time I had the worst interaction with 2 of the workers here. They are rude, they are bitter and are more attentive to the gossip than on doing a great Service and to talking to the clients as if they were their children. That does not stop lines forming to buy pastries, sandwiches, omelette, etc I got a mini pastry sandwich of ham & cheese, a Guava pastelito, and an Orange Juice and a Cortadito. The mini sandwich was the perfect sized bite for a breakfast pastry. Flaky and delicious. I also got a pastel de Guayaba. Hmmmmm! I love these pastries. I would give this place a zero, if I could. I went in today to get some breakfast items for family and was shocked to see the food handling. They would touch their pens to write down the orders, then get the food with the same "gloved" hand, then take cash from one customer, hand him his cafe and take another credit card payment from another customer and give them their order all with the same "gloved hands. My turn came up, I placed my order as she wrote it down with the same "gloved" hands and proceeded to get my items with the same hands. GROSS!!! I stopped her and told her to cancel my order!!! There's small tables and high counters for those of you that would like to enjoy your pastries without getting the delicious and buttery flakes all over yourselves while driving. They also charged me for food they didn't even have and after the payment went through, they'd tell me they didn't have it (both visits).
