Their online balloon ordering services are unreliable. My boyfriend & I tried to pre-order two number balloons $30 total for him to pick-up at the store and upon arrival they tell him they can't find his order. He showed how the money was taken out of his account and order was confirmed and they didn't budge. He ended up have to pay $60 total for balloons and they told him to call their customer service number for a refund. That is absolutely ridiculous. I know this is true because the day before I had to pick some pre-ordered balloons up and they told me they couldn't find the name. Luckily the balloons was by the register waiting and I pointed them out. I'm not sure if the system is lagging or whatever the case may be but they need to get it together. There's no reason he should have had to pay $60 for two balloons with the confirmation number and proof of purchase. Will not be ordering from here again. read more

I came in needing some items for my daughter's graduation. The staff here were very friendly, attentive and helpful. They made great selections and I was able to find everything I needed. Truly they went above and beyond to ensure I had everything. This location is far from my home. They informed me I could purchase everything and bring my balloons and receipt to the closer location. I don't know wassup with party city but has to be the worst experience. I went in today looking for balloons on 11/21/24 at 203 crossroads Blvd store 1028. First no one greeted me which i expect from any company to do. This young lady helped me with my balloon arrangement after finishing picking out my balloons I headed to the register but god that lady at the front short blonde hair register 3, she was insanely rude, rushing me and raising her voice when I told her to repeat herself cause I did not hear her the first time and had the audacity to roll her eyes at me. This associate on the sales floor, short black hair looks to be around her 40's. she was mad disrespectful. To clear things up she wasn't doing anything that I seen except be on her phone before I approached her and I asked her to help me find green hair spray she pointed to the wall, didn't bother to lead me to it like a normal associate does. I didn't see any on the sales floor, so I went back to her and asked if they have any in stock she said "if there not over there we don't have them. We've come here consistently for party decor and balloon bouquets for my son's birthday. Five years in, I think it's safe to say we are pretty happy with the service we have received. They are always fully stocked and well organized. When it comes time to pick up our balloon bouquets we are never waiting long. If you need something from the top shelf, go to the checkout counter as it can be a pain to find an employee around the aisles. Pretty happy this location is in the area! read more

I was helped by a very courteous cashier who rung up our order yesterday 6/4. She let us know that we can purchase the balloons and come back the next day 6/5 at 11AM to pick them up. It was after 12pm the next day that I go to pick up the balloons and was told that they didn't have them ready and couldn't find the order. I gave them the receipt with the ballon order number and they confirmed it was supposed to be ready by 11AM. They told me they didn't know where it could be and they have a lot of other orders! Never once did the Manager, Rhonda, apologize or attempt to help. She just stared and said I don't know what to tell you. The level of service is embarrassing and having the leader of the store have zero customer service will continue to hurt your business. This is a quick way to lose sales and profit for your business. First time visiting this location and had to make a return without a receipt. The manager was super nice with explaining their process and I was given a store credit. Walked around the store looking for the clearance section and they had a better clearance aisle than the one I visited near Triangle Town Center. Terrible customer service. I went in for my friend's bridal shower balloons. We had ordered the balloons online and just needed it blown up so we went in right when they opened. The woman who was working on the balloons was very rude. She was chewing gum obnoxiously stating one of our balloons had a hole. I asked her can we borrow the tape, which was right in front of her. I understand that online ordering is an option but for those that choose to not use that service, there be someone readily available to assist. Holy crap, so terrible. I went in there trying to buy some candy and had to leave because every single one of the employees was frankly, inept at their job. There were four aisles, and each cashier was caught up drowning in their own pathetic moat of customer service despair. One cashier held up the line to price check a little bead necklace that could not have been more than fifty cents; another cashier could not figure out her register. A third cashier was looking for a specific costume that was supposedly put on reserve, despite the manager assuring her that they do not reserve items for customers. And where was the fourth cashier? Also assisting with the costume that, as already established, was not, and had never been reserved. I am from South Carolina and my shopping experience at our party city is very different than what I just experienced. The selection is excellent can't beat it . The store is a smaller store so it was a bit tight in the isles . The shelves were very messy and the low shelves needed restocking lots up high so you had to ask for help. They only had two registers running on a Saturday and those were back up . I noticed upon entering the store and approaching the cash register there was no greeting. I pick out three balloons and the women waiting on me was annoyed right off the bat . This individual didn't smile once , looked miserable and did not want to be there . She finished our order it was 80.00 no thank you , nothing! Just said next for the next customer . We moved on to have our balloons filled and basically encounter the same thing. No greeting , no smile , no eye contact . Just another miserable employee . In total there were 4 employees , not one smiled or greeted anyone . I've visited this location a few times before without any trouble, besides the long lines but that's to be expected, but recently had a horrible experience. I looked online to see if they had a balloon I wanted. I called in and I stated that I wanted a regular size balloon and not the giant one- I was VERY specific about that point. The lady I spoke too was like okay. I sent my boyfriend out to pick up the balloon. He came back with the giant one. I asked him why he has that that's not what I ordered and he said he just picked up whatever it was I called in. I call to ask if I can come in and get the regular size one and an employee told me that since the helium was already used there was probably no way to return it and get the one I want. At this point I'm furious because it seems as though they are refusing to rectify a mistake made on their part. So, I call again to speak to a manager and she is far from being understanding. She proceeds to tell me there is no "regular" size in the balloon I wanted and that that size was the regular for them. that is the DUMBEST most pathetic excuse I have ever heard. There is clearly a difference when someone says they want the smaller size and not the giant size. And at what point were any of the employees I talked to going to mention that?!! They could have said sorry ma'am but we only carry the giant- but they didn't. Even when I called back to complain initially no one said ma'am we don't carry that product. When I got in line at 10 I realized I had forgotten the bag of stuff I needed to exchange in the car. Keep in mind, they don't do money back returns. So I was running out to my car and the woman at the door said she wouldn't let me back in. And I told her I would only be a second and she argued with me and berated me for not having a watch. Cheap merchandise and awful return policy! I bought a pair of blue stockings and false eye lashes for a birthday party I was attending. The stockings didn't match the outfit I bought it for and the eyelashes didn't stick, so they weren't worn. What a shame there's no competition for this store in Cary because this place is terrible. My balloon order placed in person the day before was not ready for pick up at the time agreed upon on the day of our event and we were on a tight timeline that day so it threw everything off. I got there at the specified time and they had not even started filling my order yet (of 28 balloons!) there were also 3 ladies in front of me in the same boat whose pick up times were before mine. So not only did I have to wait for my order, I had to wait for theirs to be filled before mine was even started! The place was mobbed on graduation day and the line was to the door. Party City has everything you need for birthday parties, showers, bridal showers, Halloween costumes, etc. The prices tend to be a little on the high side, but it's nice to be able to get everything in one place. Poor customer service!!!! The store is outdated first of all, and went to order balloons almost a week in advance from the Super Bowl. Upon arriving, the two specific balloon styles requested, one style was sold out! How is it sold out if I purchased in advanced? The manager was of no help and offered to refund the merch, that was not the point and there was no convincing her through her thick skull that they shouldn't sell items that are not going to be in stock. So I left with a handful of the same balloons at the same price I had purchased. Lesson learned take your balloons home and than bring them to inflate. Party City will not be getting any of my future business. I had the worst experience ordering balloons for my husband's birthday. Here's a recap of the worst customer experience of my life: I placed an online order for 6 ballons (large gold '3' and '0' balloons, along with 4 large red balloons) about 10 days prior to the party. Three days before the party, I received an email saying that my online order was cancelled. I called the store to ask about this, and was told by Employee A that it's company policy to cancel orders if they haven't been picked up in 7 days. I explained that the balloons were ordered 10 days out and were scheduled to be blown up in 3 days and there wasn't even anything to pick up yet. Employee A old me that she was pretty sure the order was cancelled and I would need to resubmit the order. Before hanging up, I asked Employee A if she would double check her system to ensure the order was truly cancelled. Lo and behold, it was still active in the system and she assured me it would be ready for pick up without issue on the day I requested. Great. Not feeling overly confident with the first phone call, I decided to call again to confirm my order one day before the party. The employee I spoke with that day, Employee B, couldn't find my order in the system at all. Shocking. I waited and waited on hold for Employee B to find Employee A. Turns out Employee A found the order in the system and again assured me it would be completed as requested. My confidence in actually getting balloons the next day was greatly diminishing. Finally, the morning of the party arrives and it's balloon pick up time. My dear friend arrived at Party City to pick up the balloons, only to discover that the '3' and '0' were ready, but they employees had no idea that there were four other balloon in the order. After scrounging around in the back for some time, the employee emerged and handed my friend four red balloons. They were not inflated. After expressing that I had ordered all of the balloons to be inflated, the employee explained that it would be an additional $4 charge per balloon to blow up. At this point, my friend was so annoyed that she agreed to the charges and pays for the order. She leaves with 6 inflated balloons and it seems like we've crossed the finish line. But what would a good balloon saga be without another twist? Turns out Party City not only charged my friend the additional $16 inflating fee, they also charged her for the entire order - an order that I had already been charged for through my online purchase. Today she called Party City and asked them to refund her since they double charged us. They are making her come in to the store, bring her original recipe, along my e-receipt in order to get a refund. This is absolutely ridiculous and down right wrong. This isn't rocket science people. It's balloons. Get yourselves together, Party City. read more

Watch what you purchase -- just went to to return a tutu purchased this last weekend (for Anime this weekend). When it was purchased the packaging had a torn gusset -- I noticed but didn't think a thing of it. My daughter went to exchange/return this and was told it couldn't be resold because obviously it was worn and the packaging was damaged. It WASN'T worn -- it was tried on with the rest of her costume. Then!! - told it smells like smoke?? To me smells like something between mothballs and a rotten fortune cookie. How about I wash the stupid $20 piece of nothing and try this return crap again. Thinking back to the torn gusset on the package -- who knows how many times this stupid tutu has be purchased, returned, and resold... Very very poor customer service -- now I'm out 40 bucks in tutus. read more

The 4th of July is about civic duty and celebrating being an American citizen. I choose to celebrate by volunteering to blow up 200 balloons for the annual UPHA (University Park Homeowners Association) parade, a long & celebrated tradition. The balloons were for the children. The local fire department led the parade with a firetruck, City Counselors were in attendance, along with dozens of families and expectant children. My job was supposed to be simple. I was looking forward to participating in the festivities, but Jennifer Carter's lazy incompetence thwarted my best intentions. She humiliated me in front of my neighbors and the entire community by selling me TWO empty helium tanks. One tank would have been sufficient, but when the stakes are high I like to be prepared. When I went to return these tanks another manager (who would not give me his name) refused to refund both tanks, claiming that one tanks had "some" helium, although not enough pressure to fill up even one balloon. Instead of handing out balloons to laughing children I was forced to watch their faces sour when they realized I had failed at my mission. I hope Jennifer & the entire staff of Party City are as haunted by their disappointment as I am. Think of the children. Happy Independence Day, fuck these people. read more

13 days until Halloween I was purchasing costume accessories. After the items were rung up the cashier informed me there was "absolutely no returns or exchanges". I pointed out that was not what the policy stated on the pad next to me on the counter. She picked it up and threw it at my hand then stared me down, daring me to say something. I have never experienced such rudeness and aggression at a store. They lost one customer for life. The receipt even states they will gladly accept returns and exchanges until oct 24th so I'm not sure what this was all about. read more

Our business have used Party City in the past so we went back and ordered the balloons we needed. We had a mix of mylar and latex balloons to make about 4 bunches to put in different places. This was a two day event and the balloons we got last year held up through both days. The ones this year did not.
