I have not been to this party city location in quite some time. In fact it has changed locations within the same shopping center since then. I generally go to dollar tree for balloons...but frequently they don't have helium...and today was the same issue (called 5 different dollar tree's) I ordered my balloons online for store pickup. I asked for a 4:00 pickup (ordered about 11:30 am)... Received email that they were ready for pickup at noon! I would have loved to grab them right away but my lunch break was just about over...no time. I arrived about 4:45 to pick up... 4 of my balloons were ready...missing 2 balloons ...she informed me that the other 2 balloons I ordered are air only (not helium)...ugh... I was a bit confused on what to do (i'm not very good on the spot...which is why i order online). I asked if I could swap out those 2 for equivalent priced balloons that would take helium. She said that wouldn't be a problem! YAY! I looked around for other $2 balloons...I already had 4 pink hearts...so no need for more of those (but a good backup)...WHOA! I found 99 cent balloons (didn't see those online). I asked if I could have 4 of those instead of 2 $1.99 balloons. Again she said that wouldn't be a problem! Seriously...this employee made the experience so streamlined and painless. Bravo. I wish I had got her name because she deserves applause. 5* but Just for this location at Target Center in Chula Vista. None of the locations near me stocked cotton candy machine-sugar refills with cones. I accidentally failed to complete processing my Amazon order and didn't realize I had left the purchase incomplete until the night before the party, so thank goodness for Party City! And they were fully stocked with 20 boxes available! I completed my order in seconds online and picked up my order super easily in seconds at the walk-in pickup counter. I came into this Party City looking for a couple more things I needed to complete the decor for a wedding/party. I found what I was looking for (except a plain white tablecloth), and we proceeded to check out. It took us about 30 minutes all together to locate all the items we were looking for, and a couple things we expected to find, they didn't have. So we ended up having to go to another store anyway. The staff wasn't really around to help, and the store is quite unorganized and chaotic. They have a large (extremely large) section for Halloween (it is October), which may or may not affect the way they have the store set up and organized. Overall, I likely would just go to another store to find what I'm looking for vice spending forever in here looking for stuff that they may not even have (that one might assume a Party City would have). read more

I came to this location on Friday, August 2nd. I was tired from work and I didn't want to search too long, so I found that online, this store had 6 margarita rocks in stock. I went and I searched the entire store about 3 times because I didn't want to bother an employee. Then I asked a woman in the aisles if she can help me find the rocks and I showed her a picture. Her response was "aisle two" like she was some kind of lunch lady that said "next" in a monotoned voice. I walked aisle two three times and the entire store again. Then I decided to go to the cashier since the woman wasn't of much help. This African American gentleman was wearing a Nike shirt and seemed like he hated his job. Mind you both of them were not wearing name tags. I asked him where I can find these rocks since it seemed like the woman in the aisles didn't want to help me. And that's exactly what I told him. He told me to look in aisle one since it was a tropical theme. He was the only cashier so he couldn't physically leave his area. I searched aisle 1 another three times. My fiancé was waiting in the car and I suggested that although I was tired, we make another trip to BevMo which is 20 minutes away. He came inside of the store to help me with my search. He disappeared with a picture on my phone of the item and when I went looking for him, I saw him with the first woman who didn't want to help me. She actually was walking him over to where she thought the rocks would be. Once I approached them, she started walking away towards the front of the store saying "well I guess we don't have them." No apology, no "let me check another location," no sympathy. Frustrated, I walked behind her saying out loud "I wonder why it says they have 6 in store." She kept walking responding "well it's not always accurate." My response was "well I wished someone helped me in the first place." And her response was "that's why you're always supposed to call ahead." And by then we were at the front of the store where I made sure every customer in line heard me say "it's not like you wanted to help me anyways." And I walked out, but I needed her name. I walked back in demanding her name 3 times from the African American guy and he just looked at me like a deer in headlights. The woman was cashiering next to him since he got backed up and she finally responded by saying "my name is Bianca." Then I asked "and where is your manager?" And she said "I am the manager." Let me tell you, I'm an office manager myself and that is no way to respond to a customer. A customer should feel welcomed and greeted. The customer should be helped and they should be provided with exceptional service. As a MANAGER, they're not supposed to talk back to the customer, they're supposed to apologize and offer help when the customer is upset. I cannot believe that someone like this even has the position, but then again, it's no wonder her employees are unhappy. This store ruined my expectations of Party City. I came to this location inquiring about an adult costume. Unfortunately, the employees running this place are young kids who are either bored, tired, or not getting paid well. I asked this young man a question and I could tell by the look on his face that he was annoyed and tired. I was there tonight just trying to exchange my Mother's Day balloon bouquet because the main balloon was deflated and I actually wanted a rainbow bouquet. Little did I know this was not possible because seasonal items cannot be returned. Not even red heart balloons, which I did not even know were seasonal. Well, this happened after the cashier had already taken back my bouquet and sent me to different isles thinking I can exchange the balloons for whatever I wanted!! I went into this store with hopes of purchasing an Easter Bunny costume for our Big Church event , I called beforehand, and they told me the costume was in stock. As I entered the store, I heard the cashier say welcome to party city as she was ringing up her customer. I then looked around and saw an employee stocking behind the counter so I asked him where could I find this costume, He told me it was in the first isle and that the manager could help me. I find the costume sealed in the box. I ask the manager did she have one open so that I could see what I was buying. 100.00 costume. She proceeded to open the box but told me not to open the bag where the costume was in. I told her how can I see the costume if it is in the bag. She again told me not to open the sealed bag. I put the box back and simply walked out. The worst customer service from the man who could not take a moment to help me to the manager who is clueless when it comes to customer service. What a waste of time. By the way the store was very clean but Bad Customer service can easily close those doors in a blink of an eye. Party City will always be a go to place when it comes to, of course, PARTIES! It is in a location that will see it right away. It is in the corner of all the other stores beside Old Navy, Office Depot and Ross. Also, not to forget, it is near McDonalds and you can just go here after eating some burgers and fries or vice versa. They have a lot of items on all occasions: Birthdays, Halloween, Christmas, Christening, Baby Showers and many more. The only thing that I can say about this and the reason that they only got a 4-star from me is that some of their stuff are quite expensive. Also, to the fact that you can get these items in Amazon nowadays, but I still like the fact that you get a good customer service by going here and getting that you deserve. read more

There were lots of staff working especially if you wanted a costume. I really just wanted to look at the Halloween decorations and had some colorful plates and utensils to pick up. The line was maybe 6 people deep and it went quickly. My cashier was very friendly and helpful. What I has a problem with was they all were wearing masks, one of the staff was walking behind my cashier and sneezed. She didn't even try to cover her mouth. She sneezed into the mask. I went to the front counter, and gave the cashier my phone to read the email, the first thing out of her mouth is, I haven't seen anything like this before, the sales clerk behind directs the lazy girl to the pick up area, but instead she tells another clerk to pick it up for her. Then hands me the bag, I told her the order is not complete. I said it's missing the balloons, she sends another person to pick up the balloons and begins to ring me up, online it says that if I order the balloons I get a 10 percent discount, she calls the manager with attitude saying this customer is saying... The manager comes to me, and 10 feet away, where I can't see her explains that it's only done online, I told her I don't want to waste my time by going back online and reordering the balloons if I already have it in my cart. Great staff manager Mike. Came in 9 minutes before closing asked the young Male cashier if my daughter could try on the elf costume to make sure it fit. They obliged our request, without hesitations or complaints they were about to close. Mike the manager even offered to allow a return if we had any issues with it. Went to get balloons for my 4 year old today and the young black girl at the counter with another younger man had an attitude. She wasn't very friendly at all. She even had the nerve to ask if I wanted a price check on some lol stuff I was getting as if I wouldn't be able to afford it. I told her No because wtf??? Why would she assume I needed a price check? And she was all like "They're like $14 each" and I was like and??? I hate it when I'm trying to be nice to someone and they just act rude in return. On March 31, I went into party city in national city. I spoke with an employee and I was told to go to the cashier and pay, and then they would help me pick out my balloons. Well, I ended up with the same lady. She was very nice very courteous very professional very helpful. I ended up spending almost $62 on balloons, the party was the next day which was April 1 for my great grandson's third birthday party. I had the balloons delivered when the delivery guy delivered the balloons. My daughter noticed that one of the big balloons of Mickey Mouse was laying on the ground so once we took the bag off, yes it was a popped balloon, so I called the store and once again, I got the same lady because I recognize her voice and I verified her name, she said that she would send out another big balloon. after getting off the phone with her The balloons were just sitting there minding their own business and they started popping so I called back to the store. I got the same lady and she told me well what do you want me to do? I don't know why they're popping, and then I got the rudeness out of that same very courteous employee from the other times I spoke with her. It ended up that only the balloons that were Myler . They stayed up in the air, the other balloons just flopped all over my backyard. I'm very disappointed with Party City. I'm very disappointed with the representative who could've offered to give me my money back cause I took pictures of it, I will never ever order regular balloons from party city either something was wrong with their balloons. So I ordered balloons for my mother's birthday yesterday at around 1 p.m. I ordered them online and they were meant to be ready at 5 p.m. I wait for the confirmation email until around 6 p.m and decide to head to the store. I called ahead of time to inquire about my order and she repeated back to me an order that wasn't mine. So I told her that that wasn't my order and the lady kinda snapped and said 'well can you tell me what's in your order'. So I tell her what's in my order and she says 'oh, it's not ready. is that all?' No estimated time on when they'd be ready or anything. So I didn't get my balloons and fast forward to this morning and I get an email saying that I picked up my order?? I have yet to call for a refund but this experience kind of put me off of Party City and I'd suggest supporting local business' instead. :/ read more

I called yesterday and was able to order 35 balloons over the pbone so long as I paid for them. Which is understandable. It was a little over $40 for 35 balloons. When I got there they were ready, and I shopped around and bout about $50 worth of more product. They do have a lot of cool things. There was one lady Jeanette I believe her name was that was assisting. She was nice and doing the best she could. But because she had to blow up other balloons a line started to form. Once it got about 3 more customers deep I felt bad so I went to tell one of the other girls who was stocking in case she wanted to come help. You know in the interest of customer service. She didnt acknowledge me, spoke to someone in the mic and said that she was restocking and ignored anything else I said. I feel that this is totally disrespectful to me and to her fellow coworker. The people waiting in line were patient but clearly annoyed because they know there were other associates in the store too. Add to my frustration today my balloons are all on the geound or halfway there. So I called to inquire, the lady who answers tells me that they only last 6-8 hours for latex and did not offer any further assistance. Went to buy a Halloween costume and been shopping for a while. A friend tole me to go to Party City as they had a good selection. Waited an hour to get in and another 30 min to see costume as they don't have them on display but rather in the back. Wanted to also buy a wig. It is natural for me to try out something before I buy it, specially to see if it fits good. So I opened the package and tried it on. All this sudden a staff member came and took I from my hands yelling "you are not supposed to open it!" I was baffled. There was no sign advising people no to open the wigs packages. I explained I didn't know and she walked away and handed the wig back. I was about to walk to the register to pay for my stuff, when the manager came and said "you need to leave" without asking any questions or giving a reason. Not sure where this stuff person went and what she told the manager. This is very poor management. Ron, this is just not good management protocol. Drove to the other store in Mission Valley. No line, we were able to try the wigs just fine and staff was helpful. Of course this time we asked if we could open it to try it out. And they said "yes of course" So for this reason, this store gets one star. I would give it zero if possible, but that is not an option here. Came to Party City to pick up an order for my mother. I walked in with the confirmation email pulled up and was immediately greeted with severe attitude by Natalie. She told me to wait and I said sure, no problem. She asked me what my order was and I explained to her I wasn't sure since I was just the person picking it up. She then asked someone who was in a walker (not in uniform) standing behind me if they would help me. I told her it wasn't an issue, I would wait to be helped by a store employee. She again asked, "You don't know what it is?" I replied the same thing. Instead of helping me, she sent someone else to help me and she again asked me what I ordered, I told her the same thing. She then looked in the merchandise boxes and walked up to Natalie and asked her, "Did you look up the order?" Natalie responded, "No and since she doesn't know what she ordered, just give her the beads." At this point, I was annoyed and stepped in. I said, "This system isn't organized." And she raised her voice back, "it's actually very organized." And I questioned, "Then why are you having such a hard time finding an order when I have an order number." It was very obvious she was being lazy and didn't want to do the simple task of looking up the order. She then grabbed balloons, handed them to me and with all the sass and attitude in the world, said "Have a great day." I asked her what her name was and left because I am shocked that people get away being that rude to paying customers. She really couldn't leave things alone cause once again she yelled "Have a great day." I ordered online a costume on the 17th and needed it by the 25th. Only after placing the order did I realize the order was not due to arrive until the 27th because of high demand! I got very upset with myself for not being more careful when placing an order. I tried several times to reach some one but it was the weekend and did not get any help. Monday I saw the order was shipped so I thought fine. Then Tuesday morning shipment pending. I got upset and worried. I called customer service and this lady named Sierra came to my rescue. She called the store early before opening and spoke with shipping personnel there. They had it shipped that morning and I received it the next day! What great service Sierra did on my behalf.
