Came here for a frame and they were 50% off. This place has a lot of home decor and crafts. I don't go here a lot but there is always a sale on something, so why not. I can walk around for a while and find so many things. Especially a good spot for wedding decor but it can get pricey if there's no sale. It was already close to closing when I finished getting what I needed. They opened more registers bc typically it can be a wait bc people in front of you can have a lot of items. We stopped here to pickup some photo frame packs. The place was PACKED because of the 50% off Christmas Sale. THERE IS SO MUCH CHRISTMAS MERCHANDISE here! You will find everything that you need in every Christmas color. I LOVE IT HERE. The cons were that the checkout lines went to the back of the store...all of them. There were about 6 checkout lines but it was ridiculously packed here. They may need to expand their store into the old Party City Storefront next door to address the customer base and needs. The only other Hobby Lobby Locations in SD County that I know of are La Mesa and Mira Mesa besides this Chula Vista location. We decided to leave and try to come back another day when it was less crowded. Overall this store had so many great things but the lines were taking 35min to 45+mins to checkout. I've been to this hobby lobby quite a few times and twice I had a negative experience once I was shopping close to closing time and I was very rudely told by one of the employees to get in line because they were closing and which she followed me to the line to make sure I wasn't still looking around second time I went to this Hobby lobby. They price checked my item to making sure it was labeled the right price. I got the feeling that maybe they thought I switched the price on the item then they scrutinized my money like I was giving them counterfeit money. I noticed some concerns with customer service and employee support during my visit. One manager (an older woman with brown hair) was dismissive when her employee asked for help with a price check. She said, "I don't have the machine, so I can't help you," and walked away to continue stocking -- even though the employee clearly needed assistance. I also had an interaction with another staff member who handled my situation very rudely. When I realized the store only took card because I only had Apple Pay, I told her I would come right back after grabbing cash. Instead of allowing that, she told me she would put all my items back immediately, without giving me a moment to return. Overall, the customer service and the way employees were being treated seemed unprofessional. This store would really benefit from stronger leadership and better support for their team. The service is horrible here. I was shocked how bad it was today. Mind you it wasn't even that busy but SOME of the Staff is rude. Mainly the managers or assistant managers. One was following me around, not sure why? I didn't even put my stuff in my stroller. I held it in my hand because I didn't feel comfortable to put it in my undercarriage. I go to this hobby lobby frequently because it's close. I easily spend anywhere from $300-40 when I go. But today I was being tailed by some manager, it made me feel uncomfortable because she was so close I thought she was going to hit my ankle with the cart. Like can I just walk around and browse and shop in peace? When I got to one of the Christmas isles I looked on one side and saw someone stocking so I went around to the other side to see that side. This lady a manager or assistant manager yelled at me that the isle was closed because she was in the center, like mam I wasn't even near you, I was in the outer side of the isle. I told her ok I'm just looking at this side in front of me. And she yelled at me again it's closed. Mind you she wasn't on a ladder there's no signs blocking the isle. And I'm not no where near her or heading in her direction. Her tone of voice both times were beyond rude. I had another encounter later that same visit with another one that was also rude. I couldn't believe the service I received. I later went to the La Mesa location to continue my shopping as the Chula Vista one wasn't fully stocked in the items I needed. Let me tell you, their customer service there was AMAZING! And their store is fully stocked and double the size! All of the staff there were so helpful and kind, unlike the managers at this location. read more

Wonderful arts and crafts store but Martha I believe her name was-- don't remember but her name tag said she was an assistant manager-- was SUPER rude to me when I tried one of the shirts on and made sure to loudly announce her calling her coworker or whoever to check the cameras implying me and my friend were stealing. She told me we're not supposed to try on the clothes which I entirely understand if she's just enforcing protocol but her tone, approach, and the comments afterward were highly unnecessary and most DEFINITELY did not create a positive customer experience. When I was walking away to buy my item she said "So go ahead and put that back where you got it because it didn't fit you it fit you too small so I know you're not gonna buy it?" ?? I thought that Hobby Lobby would treat customers well because it brands its store with Christianity. I am a Christian. I have to hold Hobby Lobby accountable. The business practices are awful. After my horrible experience, I looked at the better business bureau and was shocked at your poor rating. Hobby Lobby should hold itself to a higher level because it brands itself as a Christian company. I simply bought a treehopper from your store a few weeks ago. I was with my 2 girls. My husband died a few years ago. This is a hard time of the year for our family. I already had a fresh cut Christmas tree with lights and decorations on the tree. The lights were bought last year from Costco. They were totally fine. Once we added the treehopper, everything shorted out. I went to the store to complain about what happened to me, and the store manager told me that the same thing happened to another customer at a nearby store in La Mesa. She said, We are a Christian company. We will take care of you. She had me fill out an incident report. I had to drive back to the store to fill it out. Customer service was rude to me. Her name is Sharon. Lea Ann Malchaski from risk management took over. Lea Ann offered me $200 for the damaged lights and $50 for the time and inconvenience of having to go back to the store 2 times. Keep in mind that Costco had already sold out their lights. Keep in mind that I had to take everything off my tree and then put lights and ornaments back on the tree. I have a beautifully decorated tree with no lights because they were damaged by a product Hobby Lobby sold not only to me, but per your manager, it damaged another customer as well. Lea Ann will nor Sharon will address the incident that happened at the La Mesa Store. Lea Ann nor Sharon will answer the question: Why was that product still on the shelf when corporate was aware that it shorted out Christmas lights? Honesty and integrity is lacking in your customer service and risk management department. I get it. You're a big corporation. You have margins. However, when Hobby Lobby brands itself with Christ, you must have integrity and honesty at every level of your corporation. Everyone who hears this story is simply shocked. Shame on you. It's been a few years since I've been in a Hobby Lobby. But in every one I've ever visited, I've found myself totally impressed! I'm impressed by the total size and immensity of these arts and crafts stores. I'm also totally impressed by how clean and well-organized the display areas are throughout the store : just supremely clean and well-managed. Gotta tip my hat to Hobby Lobby for that! When it comes to arts and crafts, along with various home decorations, you can't go wrong here! I even note that there is a large Christmas section up and ready to go for people who want to make early preparations for the 2023 Holiday Season. But my reason to visit on this day was to find a picture frame at 12x9 inches. IKEA failed me on this one, so I gave Hobby Lobby a chance to make the sale. BUT not before I had a Swedish meatball lunch at IKEA!! LOL! Well, I'll admit that Hobby Lobby didn't have the 12x9 frame either!! BUT!! They had something that IKEA did not - a framing shop within the store! I had to look into purchasing a special hand crafted frame - and I couldn't say no because the document I needed to frame represented a key milestone in my former career. I didn't need anything extravagant - just something basic, but nice to look at. The Navy always uses black frames! But I was happy with the one I chose - has a classy look too. It also was an excellent value since it came at 50 percent off. I did notice that around the store there were many 50 percent off signs in the store throughout. I will be waiting for my frame to arrive in a couple of weeks, but I want to add here the service representative, Rosemary, provided outstanding support in assisting me to find the right frame and the best value possible. As someone who works full-time and goes to school full-time, I was truly looking forward to enjoying a quiet moment when I finally came up for air. Today, I carved out a bit of time to shop and ask about exchanging a couple of unopened items I no longer needed. I knew they were past the return window, but I wasn't asking for anything unreasonable--just inquiring if store credit was possible. What happened next left me stunned and sick to my stomach. The cashier called over a supervisor, who didn't greet me or ask a single question. She simply snarled, "NO MA'AM, NO!" in a raised, aggressive tone, then stormed off without another word. I was left standing there in front of a long line of shoppers, completely humiliated. I wasn't trying to cause a scene--I would've given the items back for free. I just didn't have a use for them. I didn't expect special treatment--I expected basic respect. Hobby Lobby promotes itself as a place rooted in faith and values, but this experience felt belittling and completely at odds with that message. I won't be returning to this location, and I sincerely hope this supervisor reflects on how damaging and unnecessary that behavior was. A little empathy goes a long way. read more

The selection and items available had us in here for more than an hour (which is typically hard when munchkin is uninterested) however the set-up and design was all so mesmerizing. I wanted to buy so many things (even though I have no room!) Initially came here for Christmas ornaments the first time and it was right in the front of the store and remember walking back out. This week 9/30 was the first time we walked through the store and actually looked at the items sold. Bought a few items on my list with a 50% off sale, which sealed the deal! Hobby Lobby is my go to for any crafting needs. Iso graduation party decor and a wreath, I headed over the Saturday before Mother's day. Okay I don't recommend coming here on a holiday weekend because it was really busy and there was barely any inventory for grad stuff. Maybe it's too early? There were no employees walking around so we spent a lot of time looking for stuff. I do love their floral section which is abundant with multiple selections to allow you to customize. I was able to easily find some beautiful flowers to adron my wreath and picked up a few items for my DIY grad centerpieces. Lines were long but they did open up two registers. More disappointed that there were lines and the manager moved people behind me for a faster checkout but didn't even acknowledge I was waiting ahead of them. This is my favorite craft store! Better than Michaels and Joann's. This places as all kinds of themes for decorating your personal space! Kitchen, bathroom, bedrooms....office or childrens room! They also have party decorations (party city is right next door), and every holiday to celebrate! The holiday decorations go on discount 40% off to 60% off as the holiday comes closer! Christmas takes over practically 70% of the store of all kinds of trees, lights, ornaments, figurines...almost like a winter wonderland! They have fancy fake plants that look REAL. If you like to sew theres many fabric selections. Scrapbooks and all themed paper cardstock and 3D accent decorative stickers! Wow!!! This place is like fairytale land for those who love crafting. Endless amout of possibilities. The first thing I noticed was a back row of multiple different pumpkins. I love fall and everything halloween, so I was very excited to see this section. That goes for all the different seasons. I saw a Christmas aisle, too. The garden section is my favorite. There were at least 3 full aisles full of garden decor and needs. Second Hobby Lobby in one day with spending 3 hours at the last location in La Mesa. Had one item that was not sold in La Mesa but available in Chula Vista. Before I came, I called to check on an order that I saw on line and they had it ready for me at the front counter. I made a few returns that went flawless and proceeded to shop some more with my fur baby in the cart. The difference in this location is that it's way larger which means they can stock up on a lot of items that you see on line and more color selections. I was in heaven when there were two aisles of 75% off items! La Mesa store did not have this. I was told these were items that are no longer in the system. The best part is that it's still returnable and not final sale. What I noticed is that it looked like returned items or defected that's why it's dirt cheap. I found a farmhouse themed picture frame coat hanger originally priced at $50 with the 75% off made it $12! What a deal. Even if I used the 40% off coupon or wait for the occasional 50% off sale, it wouldn't be as cheap as $12! There was a minor scuff but couldn't tell because it's the farmhouse rustic look. The floral section is spacious with so many choices of flowers that look real. This place has the best discounted wall and home décor to furnish your farm house, coastal, man cave, children's room, and whatever theme you have in mind or if you're planning a themed event, this is the place to go for the best prices. Combining Michaels, Joanes, and Ross, Marshalls, HomeGoods, Living Spaces, Pier 1 Imports, all under one roof! I get that fabric can never be cut perfectly but this is not even close. I paid for a 1 1/2 yards and for the project I'm doing I'm going now have to cut a large around to Take off the missing gap and trim around the selvage edges. So I paid for an amount I can't even use because an employee wasn't cutting the fabric properly. I ALWAYS shop here and I love the store and everyone working here. I've never had a bad experience. I also heard that it's the Chick-Fil-A of the art supply stores being that it's Christian related and closed on sundays. Whatever it may be, this place is awesome! Yes they have some items that are pretty overpriced, but they also have some items that are under priced. If you get the app you can get a 40% coupon for a single item! Everyday! If you're smart, you create 40 different email accounts and get 40 coupons!!! Everyday! But you can't use the coupon if the item is already on sale. So that part sucks, but it's business. This place is great! There is so much and something for everyone! From crochet, sir brushing, knitting, sewing, crafting, stamp collecting, miniature village building, hoarding, fake plant jungles, western themed living, hoarding, glass breaking, you can think it, they have it!
