At all costs, AVOID this Party City unless it's an emergency or you're desperate! I stopped here really quick because I wanted to grab some items to decorate my friend's apartment for her birthday. I literally just wanted balloons, streamers, and a happy birthday sign. I walked in and went straight to the balloon counter. I picked up which color balloons I wanted. I thought they would blow up the balloons while I shop for the rest of my items, but no. I have to buy the balloons FIRST and then they fill it up. So I thought, why not just gather all my items and go to the counter (and that's exactly how they get you to buy even more items). Came for 3 items, and let with 6+. A lot of the birthday signs had a number with it, ie 30th, 50th, 75th, etc. Where are the basic signs? I could only find 2. I wanted a simple black or white 'happy birthday' sign, but opted for gold. Now onto purchasing my items - the lady at the counter was very pleasant, which is the reason for the 2 stars. She let me compare the prices between regular and high-flow air for the balloons. I was going to do regular since the party was within 2 hours, but I opted for high-flow to make the balloons stay for 24+ hours to make her birthday special. Paying extra for 6 balloons adds up, might I add. Quickly headed to the balloon counter and decided to change the bright green to a darker green. I asked the lady at the counter, what both greens will look like once blown up. Her response? "I don't know. I don't even know my colors." Umm, what? Why are you working here? Fine, I'll just get the darker green. Started blowing them up and asked what color ribbon I want. Apparently they ran out of all basic simple colors (white, gold, and black). I had to get green streamers. Hello tacky, but oh well. Patiently waiting for this lady to finish blowing up the balloons. It took her probably 30 minutes to blow up 6 balloons and there was NO ONE in front of me. Why's it taking so long? I was obviously in a rush. Finally done and headed to my destination (20 minutes away). One of the balloons was deflated the second I got there. (pictured) Wait, didn't I just pay EXTRA so it won't deflate? Now my whole set-up is going to be messed up. All in all, if you want good service and good products go to Target which is around the corner, or another party city. read more

Package clearly said air only. I just didn't pay attention. So I'm stumped because I really wanted to pop up to my friend's dinner with engagement balloons. Do not shop here. I went in with my three year old to shop for her class party. We were excited to look at decorations for her classmates. While in the store she needed to go to the bathroom. I searched for one and asked a staff member if there was a restroom. He said "it's for staff only." Mind you I'm 100 percent sure he just walked out of that bathroom. I tried to explain it wasn't for me but for my daughter and he said "You'll have to go next store" and rudely walked away while talking back to me. Worst experience! Tried to place an order via the website... it failed.... website is horrible and you are unable to checkout. Called the 800 line to receive a message they have high volume and the wait is over 30 minutes so the message directs you to LiveChat. When you click on LiveChat you will receive the message "LiveChat is unavailable at this time" (by the way it is 3pm on a Friday afternoon). Called the local store in Columbia where I was put on hold for 15 minutes and then told they can not take orders over the phone and the ONLY way to place an order is to go inside their store. So much for their COVID-19 curbside pickup. Glad to see they have soooo much business that customer service is not a priority. read more

Tiki themed parties, bright summer utensils and paper products, rinky dink wedding party favors and even some nice boxes that have alotta potential, adorable baby animal themed baby shower decorations and cartoon cars character party invites, cheap party favors and balloons galore. On 5/25/21 at 10:30am I was super excited to shop for balloons for my husband's birthday. Upon arriving in the store I was not greeted at all! One employee was on the phone at the cash register and the other employee was to busy getting ballon orders ready. I purposely stood in front of the corner where the balloons were located thinking someone would notice me and ask me if I needed help with something. Boy was I wrong! Both employees just continued to do what they were doing! I was so confused of the lack of customer service considering the store just opened at 10:00. I kindly walked out of the store. I ordered a costume online on October 18th to pick up in the store,and was said to receive an email when it was ready. After a couple of days and no email, I called the store to see what was going on... To find out they couldn't find my order. Mind you They already pit a hold.on.my account for the money. So the lady says oh we have it I.will leave it at the front.. Yeah right. I go there its not up front BUT they still have some. So i go this bitch tries to swipe my card AGAIN even though they have taken money. Needless to say I did NOT swipe.my card again and left. So.i call coorperate and they say some BS and to go back. I came here in search of Minecraft party decorations and was disappointed. To my knowledge Minecraft is a popular game but surprisingly is hard to find in terms of party decorations. Even though they didnt have what I specifically was looking for I was still able to get things that color coordinate with the theme. There was a nice young man that works there that was familiar with the game and helped me pick out balloons. I left the store with enough party supplies to fill goodie bags and decorate the tables, so i cant really complain. Eeesh, I wish I could give this store a better review but unfortunately they are lacking in many ways. I went here last month to pickup a balloon order for my daughter's birthday party and it wasn't ready. I had ordered a few days before and even got an e-mail confirmation but for whatever reason it was tucked away and not done. The lady just said 'I don't know why it wasn't done and we are running VERY VERY low on helium.' That's all she said, no apology or anything. Thankfully there ended up being enough helium for my order. Aside from this experience, there's almost always a long wait at checkout and the balloon counter since the person at the register is usually manning the balloons too. This place is severely understaffed and the employees seem like they don't want to be there. The only reason I go is because it's the only place that has a large balloon selection near me. read more

I have never received such horrible customer Service. I orders $50 worth of balloons to be delivered and no where during the checkout process was there a disclaimer for buying anchors for the balloons. My order was delivered without anchors and they forgot to attached the card on the balloons. Even the delivery driver said when he went to pick up the balloons, he waited for quite a while before being serviced and that the customer service was horrible. I called to speak with the manager about my discontentment and of course she had all the excuses in the world. Will never do business here again. Terrible place!!!!!! read more

Went in to buy my son's Halloween costume & the store itself was pretty decent with a good selection of items! On the other hand, there were several things that happened (not with me) regarding customer service that left me bothered. The cashier ladies (except for one) at the register were rude with each other & with some of the customers. You shouldn't talk down to your coworkers, but especially not in front of customers. Watch out for DIVINITY. She works in the balloon department and has an absolutely horrible attitude. Management was helpful when I asked to speak to someone who was inclined to actually help their customers. (Maggie was the manager I dealt with and the two stars are for her. ) I won't be returning to this location because of the horrible attitude, and just plain laziness I experienced with this employee. No problem with inventory. In fact, I was amazed with all the fully stocked shelves when I first walked in. The employees on the other hand is different story. I came in to purchase a large order of balloons and was encountered with two unfriendly employees who looked and acted under the influence of who knows what. While I was making my balloon selection with my 2 children, the employees were talking about how someone was murdered and shot in the head. They were also talking about women. Not something I want my kids to hear. I quickly finished my selection, placed the balloons on the counter, and they just stood there talking. I had to ask if I could have my balloons blown up. In the end, I did not buy the balloons because they only last 4-6 hours. They decided to tell me that after I spent the time picking them out. Surprise of the bad customer service given on Friday 7/26 around 6:40pm EST, the cashier searched for an item I showed her, it clearly stated it was in stock, she asked her manager to see what to do, he said to have the customer give the item #, she said ok, came back to me, I said I overheard and I reminded her you have the item #, you just looked it up, me going online leads to the same result, then she said I will ask the manager again, the manager came and said that if the item is not in the floor, it was stolen, I said can you look in your stock room your system is showing 6 items are available, he puts a face of not wanting to do anything, he says it was stolen and in the stock room there are tons of boxes, and that he has to blow up balloons, nothing he can do for me, if I wanted for him to call another store, I said don't bother and left. I had no confidence he would actually call another store. This is BAD customer service, he should have found a 3rd employee to look for the item, I can't believe that is this mid-size store there is only 2 people working! also stating "tons of boxes" that is an insult of course a stock room will have boxes. He was lazy, and the cashier didn't know how to do the job. I left to never return to his particular location Party City in Old Dobbin Lane, Columbia MD. A young boy seem to look like he was on drugs, eyes very low and kept laughing when I asked question, he had "weed smell" to him. He had on those jogger pants, pretty tall, low hair cut had an earring in. Not only is the store torn apart and full of unopened boxes (this seems to be a constant thing at this location), but at 10am, with 3 employees in view, the one running the register goes to blow up balloons. Terrible customer service. We stood in line (2nd in line) for 30 mins to place balloon order and that is fine as they had orders but then the billing took way longer. The person billed us twice for the balloons. So when we asked tocheck and refund, first reaction was to say "that never happened" even without checking the bill. Next he finally accepted and could not correct it and waited for the manager named Maggie. She made us wait for over 20 mins to correct their own mistake and when we gave a feedback she showed her attitude as if it was our mistake that we got incorrectly billed. I was at the register buying an item that was 50% off. The woman at register knew the discount did not go thru and did not even say anything. I checked my receipt and saw the problem right after paying and told her right away. She did not even apologize and called a guy next to her to fix the discount right after I had paid and had been overcharged already. I've always shopped at Party City when buying decorations for my kid's parties. However, I am new to MD and previously did my shopping in PA. This store is a stark difference from what I am use to. First, they don't seem to have the right number of people working as I have noticed on 3 different occasions that people are waiting in line for at least 20 minutes to checkout. Several of their employees have an unpleasant attitude and seem disinterested in helping the customers. On two separate occasions I asked a question and got a very short answer the first time and the second time I was told "if you don't see it, we don't have it". Another major issue this store has is their inventory management. I ask for 4 different happy birthday balloons and was told that each were sold out. This was on the day I ordered balloons for pick up on a later date. I did this because I noticed that the balloon line was always very long so I thought if I order and pay ahead I'll be in and out quickly. Well that was far from the truth. I waited 15 minutes passed my order time as I watched a women blow up balloons for a different order that had the same pickup time as mine. On that order, she messed up and had to restart after blowing up 5 balloons. As I waiting in line, I saw several customers ask for at least 10 different happy birthday balloons and were told all were out of stock. These were different balloons than I had requested days before so they had at least 14 different happy birthday balloons out of stock. As a party supplies company this is unacceptable. Fast forward to two days after getting my balloons and the balloons bought from Party City are very deflated while the balloons I purchased at the dollar store look like the day I bought them. What people don't know is that you can order balloons online if you want the big specialty balloons and take them to the dollar store to have them blowed up. They will charge you aware from .50 to a couple dollars but the cost ends up being the same or very close to Party City and they last longer, no rude employees, or long lines. They also have many happy birthday balloons to pick from. read more

I was at the Columbia MD store this afternoon and had a bad experience at checkout. I was ignored for several minutes then I heard a voice from the balloon area say they would be with me shortly. I waited another 2 minutes at which time another customer behind me went up to the counter and the worker walked up and proceeded to assist her instead and check out her full cart of stuff. I went up to the worker and said, 'you made we wait 5 minutes and now you are going to assist her first?' She said that she didn't see me there. The customer spoke up and said she didn't see me either. I guess I am invisible today. I started to walk out but I really needed the few things I had on the counter. I didn't want to have to drive to another store and be further inconvenienced. I asked for the manager and the worker called for her over the loud speaker. the Manager did show up right away and was nice and eventually checked me out. Why is my time less important than the other customer? I had perishable items in my vehicle and just want to stop in the store for a few items and get out but it turned into several more minutes than it should due to the employees negligence There should be staff at the checkout counter at all times. Customers should not have to wait that long then be ignored. I will never go to this store again. Lazy incompetent staff. read more
