Located by the railroad tracks right as you…read moreleave downtown Indy on East New York Street, Cash & Carry Paper has been around and within the Corsaro/Moss family since they first bought it in 1962. It has been in various locations including 32 years at 602 East Washington Street. Cash & Carry Paper has a 33,000-square foot warehouse and a 4,000-square foot showroom. They are local, do not ship, and do deliver within the Indy area. You can also browse online. I drive by Cash & Carry nearly every day since I take East New York Street on my way home. I was immediately intrigued because they have a huge and very nicely ramp done at their front door (I'd imagine it's as much about carrying supplies, but for a wheelchair user it's also pretty great). If it's paper, there's a pretty good chance that Cash & Carry Paper carries it and there's a pretty good chance their pricing is going to meet or beat mosf the places that you'll think of to get things like cutlery, napkins, plastic ware, decorations, bowls, office supplies, and a myriad of other things. Seasonal items are plentiful here and this place offers great prices for wedding needs (Okay, I've actually heard this. I'm old. I'm tired. I'm perpetually single.). Employees are always friendly here - in fact, it was because a friend was dating someone from here that I finally visited Cash & Carry and came to regard it as a "go to" option for paper goods. While the hours don't always work best for me (7am-5p, M-F), it's worth the extra effort because I'm truly supporting local while also getting great customer service and prices. While the neighborhood is a mixture of up-and-coming and economically challenged, I've never had any issues here and Cash & Carry is in a good location being next to the railroad tracks. If you're doing special events, have a wedding, have a gathering, or whatever, there's simply no place else I would check first. While they focus on paper, like nearly any other paper company they offer a wide range of similarly-themed products including janitorial supplies. Honestly, rather than trying to list all the supplies - go to their website and check it out for yourself. Truly, Cash & Carry is an Indy gem and one of the best options I've found for paper goods in this area. I'll easily check here first before ever heading over to one of the chain options.

This is a great store especially if you're shopping for children. And I'm not talking about things…read moreyou only buy for kids. For instance my primary reason for shopping here are for Apple devices charging cables. These are things kid easily break by misuse. Five Below's cables are of decent quality that last many months for me, even a year, yet low in cost that I don't mind buying more when my grandchildren break them after weeks of use. Headphones are another quality item here that kids can damage the wires to the point they look ok but they stop working. Five Below has a wide variety of headphone styles. The granddaughter loves them especially anything with unicorns or cat ears. So this year for Christmas I found some other items they loved. Posters, magnets, LED lights, LED hand soap dispenser (yeah really) and more. There was the longest line I've ever seen there (the week before Christmas) but Five Below stepped up and had 4 cashiers (the norm is one) and checking out went fast.

Hey Friends! So,…read moreyesterday I got some long overdue time to myself and decided to venture out into the world to check out what was new and different. Being naturally curious with a need to save money on some basic necessities as many of us do these days, I ended up at a brand new discount store called $5 Below in Plainfield, Indiana. In my opinion the name implies that all their merchandise is $5 or less. Or I guess one could even assume that the name may simply be suggesting that their prices are $5 less the the price of their competition. I try to be practical so I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt. They sell the same types of things you would normally find at at almost any ' five and dime' including, seasonal items, toys, make up and beauty, arts and crafts, house and home, cleaning supplies, candy, t-shirts, you get the idea. After doing the initial browsing lap I was excited to see they even had sage, incense and burners, AND quite the selection I might add. AND THEN I SAW WHAT THEY WANTED. Basically EVERYTHING was $5! For example, the incense burners, the kind you can pick up for a buck or two someplace else, $5. The Clorox Spray Cleaner that I KNOW they sell just a couple doors down at a similar store that it probably wouldn't be very nice to mention, the price for the same brand and size of cleaner for just over a dollar? $5. The beauty blending sponges were another disappointment. It didn't' matter if you bought the assorted variety, or opted for the single version they were both each $5. I gotta tell you, it kind of Chaps my ass that the people in charge think the typical consumer is not intelligent enough to 'comparison shop'. It's like their factoring in for inflation to pad their bottom line while deceiving the paying consumer into believing that we're getting such a good deal because it is a discount store after all, that we'll just throw that money down, which when you think about it this logic isn't fair. Most of us are shopping at discount stores because we can no longer afford not to. Hey dudes, we KNOW what we are used to paying for what we buy. Never underestimate the intelligence of your consumer, it's just bad business and a recipe for failure once we're onto you. Which now a LOT of us ARE! In my personal opinion this is NOT my idea of 'smart saving'. But you be the judge and please let me know if you feel the same way, or put me in check if you disagree. I'd love to know your thoughts. I'm NOT TELLING YOU NOT TO SHOP HERE. Only go with the power of the information of being a well informed customer. Until next time, Fea B.

I liked vintage, but nothing that said "shabby chic" or "barn wedding". Further, I didn't have the craftiness or patience in me to be a thrift store-hunting, DIY bride, which I why it made the most sense to rent. I can't recall how I stumbled upon Violet Vintage's website, but looking through their inventory, I knew they were worth a phone call. I worked with Megan, who set up an appointment for me to come look at their full inventory. Let me tell you: the website only gives you a sliver of Violet Vintage's inventory. The warehouse is astonishing with all of the beautiful antique pieces. I ended up renting WAY more items than I had anticipated including platters, stained glass windows, lamps, doors, vases, candelabras, and an old ice chest. Every item helped me transform the brewery into the elegant space I was looking for. To the brides looking for a vintage, elegant feel (or a garden party, or shabby chic, or rustic), I can't recommend Violet Vintage enough. Make an appointment to see their inventory, and I guarantee you'll find the pieces that will make your wedding special.
