    Birthday balloons

Josh the manager was superb. Thank you for helping me with my daughter's party balloons. This Northbrook Party City store is much more customer friendly than the store on Touhy Av. Much better selection with helpful staff. The other store on Touhy Av could care less if they sold anything. It was a negative experience. But Josh the Northbrook store manager turned my experience into a positive one. Thank you Josh. Party City - you should give Josh a bonus and a promotion

"Adriane's Yelp" "Party Time!" "Excellent!" "Dooooodly doodlee dooooo!" (Plays air guitar) Well it isn't a party that usually brings me here to shop, though this BIG store has a ton of items for celebrations everything from kiddo b-days, retirement buh byes, happy being fifty day, ect. The decorations range from streamers to balloons to character balloons, piñatas, paper plates and table cloths, & party favors: candy, noisemakers, keychains, magnets, pens- the usual jive. Anyways they have some holiday stuff too. The Halloween selection is surprisingly big considering so many pop up Halloween stores exist during that month. Those usually have 100's of costumes and items plus all the myriad online Halloween options, however I respect they provide option for those who need to get something on the fly. Christmas I was a bit disappointed at the Christmas selection and amount of wrapping paper. I though it would be much, much more. I didn't walk away with everything I was hoping to buy there that day. The aisles are so spacious they could wedge in just a couple more displays or end caps of merchandise. I did find some ok wrapping paper for my dog's gifts and my friend's dogs' gifts. I didn't want too spend much and it was a great deal. Pro tip: get more wrapping paper than you think you need because you'll use more than you think. And non toxic soy ink wrapping paper for dogs and cats is available online or at specialty boutiques. This did the trick in a pinch and I def will return for some inexpensive holiday or bday stuff. Party on!

It is so hard to find someone to help and when you do it seems like they are doing you a favor.

We ended up renting their biggest slide for 8+ hours. I reached out to the store and talked to Steve. After telling him what I was looking for he was super helpful and sent over a quote right after we got off the phone. Signed it that day and put a deposit down. They showed up 30 minutes early with the slide on the day of. The crew that dropped it off looked pretty young so I was even more impressed when they nailed the set up so quickly. We were filling up the slide 15 minutes later. Even though the day was a bit chilly at 77 degrees - it didn't keep anyone off the slide for long. Some things I learned since this was my first really big inflatable purchase: - Make sure you have an outlet within 100ft of the inflatable and you probably won't need a generator (depending on your voltage) - The extension cord they provided was a 14 gauge but I switched it out with my 12 gauge lighted cord since we were going to run it continuously for so long. - Use U-Shaped ground anchors to stake the extension cord and water hose to the ground to prevent tripping after set up - and make a couple of yellow tripping hazard sign so no one can sue you.

It's through him that I heard of the Central Street Busker Festival that took place the next day and his line was loooong! Most recently, we went to his show last week that the Mt. Prospect Public Library held for spring break. That was very very well attended, with a long line of folks waiting to get in (and that's with all of us registered to attend!), but the show was a lot of fun. He did a little magic, a little comedy, and some fun balloon tricks. This guy has been doing this all his adult life--unless that's also a joke and part of his act--but regardless, he's great at his job. I loved the rustic look of the furniture Elegant had and their prices were better than most. While they didn't have any rugs or pillows to rent (sigh), their wine barrels were perfection to use as high boys and ended up getting a bunch of their low benches to put together as low tables (to use with floor seating). And they were also able to provide lights for my backyard. While every other vendor told me that postposting due to rain or Covid-19 wasn't an option (say whaaa?) I also liked that they were flexible. The main issue was that getting ahold of them was extremely difficult. If the Yelp reviews didn't give me faith that they'd show in time fo the bash I would have been extremely worried. It took a lot of stalking for both me and my party planner to get a contract, pay for the contract and a date to set everything up. There is an emergency # and found that we had better luck when we called the emergency #. They set everything up a few days in advance so I didn't worry too much about them being a no show. I let them know they needed to come at 7am to get it all done since I was headed out for a busy day and they showed up even a few minutes early. An hour later my yard was lit up beautifully and I was really happy with the look of the furniture for the price. They set it all up on a Thursday morning and said they would be back on Monday to pick it up (also prompt for pick up) so we got to enjoy a long weekend of beautiful lights. While the service leading up to the event wasn't the best, I'd probably still use them since it was smoothly the weekend of the event. However, I'd hope they would be more on top of their communication next time.
