I was confused, so I called the office, as I had not requested a refund or been contacted before that email was sent to me. I inquired about the refund and they stated that I would need to rebook and they could not accommodate people on 8/15. I asked why I was able to book for 8/15 at all and they were hesitant to state it was an issue on their end. They eventually explained there was an issue on their end with their website, and they had to cancel everybody that had booked on 8/15, as they had an event that day instead (an anniversary - congrats to the couple), that their website wasn't reflecting. They did not apologize and simply stated if I wanted to attend a tour, I'd just need to pick another date or I could take the refund. I explained that date was the only one that worked and thanked them for their time. At some point, they called me twice that day. But they did not leave a voicemail the first time and the second time they left a voicemail where the employees were talking to each other about who on "the list" had been contacted about the cancellations and how to mark them contacted. It was clear they were unaware I had contacted them already. I did not call back and I have not heard anything since. Just felt a little weird ‍ and impersonal, for something that is supposed to be really cool! Not a super great experience.

She was unprofessional and very short with me when communicating though email even though I was nothing but friendly with her. When we first looked at the venue in person, she spent the whole time texting on her phone, and when I asked her questions about where couples typically have the ceremony she said "I don't really know anything about what they do because I am not here when they have the event." The worst part was the day of the event when Julia neglected to give me the passcode to enter---on the day of my wedding. We were doing the setup ourselves and working with very limited time and I ended up getting the code 45 minutes past when we should have had it! She claimed she "thought she had given it to me" and basically gave me a "whoops" when she looked back in her messages and found out she didn't. For a venue as nice as this, Julia certainly isn't doing them any favors. Otherwise, I have nothing but good things to say about this place. It is far more beautiful in person than what you see in the pictures, and the views from the inside and outside are amazing. I love that we could do both our ceremony outside in the sand, and our reception inside (with great views!) without having to have our guests change venues. It does, however, get very hot inside in the warmer months even with the fans and air conditioning since the place is screened in. All in all, the Lake House was the perfect casual, warm and inviting setting to have our small wedding!

The owner ("Uncle Sammy") just had such a complete air of falsity that it really took all of the fun out of what should have been a nice event. I really just felt uncomfortable allowing him to interact with my children, and certainly would not have allowed them to stay if I had not been there with them. I would not recommend this business, nor will I or my family attend any future events hosted by or including them. read more

I don't usually do this but I was recently in town for my nephews birthday and we rented from Party-On Rentals. By far the best customer service you will ever experience. James will work with you and get you exactly what you need for a great price. We rented the tables, chairs and an inflatable and it was all in fantastic condition. Highly recommended! read more

We used Southern Shuttles for our wedding transportation for our guests from our hotel in downtown…read moreColumbia to our venue near Lake Murray. We had about 80% of our people traveling from out of town and planning logistics was proving to be extra stressful. When I called and spoke with Kristy she put me at ease. She explained several options for getting our guests across town...during rush hour....on a Friday. I felt at ease after our conversation and was pleased with the pricing. Kristy and I chatted again about a week or so before the big day and she had me at ease. We had 2 shuttles booked and they were able to get me and my gals to the venue while the other shuttle went to pick up the gentlemen across town. One shuttle headed downtown to get a group of family members and bring them back to the venue earlier than the rest of the guests. Both shuttles then headed back downtown to pick up our guests at the hotel. (They were dropped off right on schedule at the venue.) The day of Kristy sent me her personal number, as well as the drivers names and numbers. I felt very well taken care of and much less worried about everyone arriving on time. Our driver arrived about 15 minutes early! We had plenty of time to get our stuff together and get on the bus, no rush! Both drivers were extremely professional. They even indulged us with playing music we requested on the radio. Both shuttles were extremely clean as well. The was a minor snafu in our timeline at the venue, but the drivers made sure we were picked up and taken to our hotel at the end of the night. I HIGHLY recommend southern shuttles for your transportation needs!
