I believe in supporting local business. But what a terrible experience this AM at Party Supply Depot. I was going to order tons of items for a 60th birthday event. Walked into the store. The cashier - female and older - was with a customer. I waited patiently until the customer left. Then very politely said: Can I get some assistance please. She basically shouted at me: I NEED SOME TIME. I HAVE TO WORK ON AN ORDER and stomped off glaring at me all the while. I left the store and vowed never to return.! There was nobody else in the store. Why not attend to a customer about to drop $200 and do your paperwork later? I have never been so abused and treated so abominably in my life. Never was like this under previous management. Shocking attitude and zero customer service. Hence these terrible reviews. Sad. read more

I had purchased balloons elsewhere and had wanted to get them filled but was refused (older lady at leftmost cash register - a tad rude) due the the quality of them. I honestly wouldn't have minded if something had happened to them after they're filled. Plus I was willing to pay the minimal charge $2.50. I think they just didn't want to deal with anything not purchased from them. Next time I will get my balloons done elsewhere. Other staff were nice as I had asked about cake boxes (they didn't have any for over 10") and how the helium balloon tanks work. Prices similar to that of Party City. They did have almost everything you'd need for a party. read more

Whether you are planning a party, in need of a Halloween costume, or just need any sort of decorations, this is THE place to go. The staff are extremely helpful, and the store is huge with a great selection or decor, props, balloons, etc. They have a huge Halloween costume selection (but be forewarned - do not wait till the last minute!) as well as props, masks, wigs, hats, etc. They carry anything and everything you would need at a party, from themed decorations, to cutlery. PSD carries stuff that you would think you could only find at weird little shops downtown. For those of you who live in the city, it is definitely worth the drive up here. Alright, I know a lot of you in Toronto do not live in or near Thornhill but if you ever need a good party supply store, taking the drive up north to the Party Supply Depot is definitely worth the gas and time! Family-owned, the Party Supply Depot understands the individual needs of all their customers the minute they walk into the store. From my own experience, the staff greeted me immediately the few times I have visited the store in the last year and were extremely helpful when I was planning an event for Humber College. They made my process of gathering party supplies and favours very simple, while keeping with the themes of the event. The store carries all of the key products, such as all party supplies, costumes, tableware, balloons, banners and drinkware. So whether you are in need of the latest and coolest cartoon character birthday plates for young children or more sophisticate drinkware that is plastic but has the illusion of being glass, this store is the best! And to add to its amazing reputation, the Party Supply Depot has been honoured with an award in Toronto's Post City Magazine. read more

The sales people are truly awful here. We asked them for help numerous times and the third question we asked she literally said to us- ask me anything else quickly because there are too many questions and i'm in the middle of something. And we gave her this awful look and she walked away. I think her name was Laura. It was absurd. Then the cashier was ringing us out and said debit or credit, I said debit, she said great, I put in my debit card and completed the transaction and when the receipt printed out she said- did you put in a credit card? I said, "No, I told you debit" And she was like- well do you need a receipt? I told her yes and she said, well then i have to re-do the transaction and refund you because i typed in credit. I was like- ok fine. It took her 13 minutes to redo the transaction!! I couldn't believe how ridiculous my experience was here. We called head office to file a complaint. Also we ended up returning everything and buying all of it much cheaper on Amazon and at Wal Mart, their prices are pretty absurd we only went because we had never been before and figured we'd get everything we needed for a party in a couple weeks in one place but turns out it wasn't worth it as we checked and saved close to $80 on all of it in other places. read more

Came here to buy 3 big helium balloons. Had a great selection. Picked three that you were able to customize and have names written with sitckers. They were a huge success and efveryone loved them. Will come back again! read more

The store is great for supplies and has been here for a long time but I wholeheartedly agree with all the reviews noting bad customer service. All the staff here look miserable and grumpy and don't appear to enjoy their jobs and mostly speak in one word answers. It must be the leadership as management lacks serious customer service skills. I've visited on three occasions in the last two months and management barely even looks at customers and doesn't bother to smile or say hello. They have great items which is the only reason I visit but always leave feeling irritated with their service. read more

A little miffed. 6 days before Hallowe'en the fog machine costs $25. 2 days before Hallowe'en the fog machine costs $35 and the fog juice is upped in price. Yes the prime directive of our Economy and Business is gouge the needy but I'll be checking out the other party stores next time. read more

Unfriendly and overpriced. Ladies at the front are rude. No sense of customer service at all. Lots of other places to shop for this stuff. Do yourself a favor and skip this one. read more
