She was knowledgeable and had that great massage style that felt really gentle but you could tell she was really working out the kinks. Considering the area (yup, my butt), she totally helped me feel comfortable. Have also heard fantastic things about the resident chiropractor as well, though haven't had treatment myself. Tucked away off Cole Harbour Road, this little place houses a chiropractor's office and a massage therapy room. The small waiting room at the front provides ergonomically supported chairs and plenty of information on bone and spinal health. Your bones are your infrastructure! But for as simple as the place it, it has just what you need. Chiropractic medicine is not for everyone. You have to be comfortable having your bones pushed and prodded and cracked back into place. The registered chiropractor there is very gentle, and does a great job of answering all of your questions and alleviating any concerns you might have about lying down on a table that's going to slide around and pop your spine into place. Plus, she's going to encourage exercises and stretches you can do to help keep your core strong and straighten your back. She can plan a regimen that will help maximize your mobility and minimize your pain. If you're like me and your problem is beyond skeletal and encompasses your musculature, you might need some muscle manipulation to work out the kinks. Luckily, the massage therapy room in the back is there to welcome you to your next phase of healing. A comfortable massage table, soothing music, and capable hands are going to work your muscles into submission. Their prices are comparable to other spots, and they can do direct billing if your insurance is set up that way. A move and a depleted insurance made me stop going there a couple of years ago. However, now that I'm back in the neighbourhood, I'll likely be going back for a helpful crack now and again.

Massage Addict is actually a membership based massage therapy location which long story short means $50 for a 1 hours massage. Yes you have to sign up for 12 months but you can leave at any point.. This location is actually pretty new. Nice decorated with a vibrant green wall when you first walk in which is very eye catching. Nice white leather coach to relax while waiting. Micheal actually gave me my massage and he was very good, very strong I did not know weather to cry or hug him. But the most important thing my back feels 100% better and this was my first one. I have already booked for March and I can not wait. Oh yeah they are starting the week of Feb 21 with Esthetics's services as well and the prices are very reasonable. I haven't had a lot of experience with getting massages (none in fact) but as a business these guys are solid. Friendly front desk staff, and the therapists are professional and friendly. I always walk out of there feeling a little more relaxed and a little less tense. The introductory rate can't be beat and the monthly membership is definitely a savings. I have been suffering with severe headaches and migraines for almost two years now. I've been for test after test, and tried many different medications. As a last resort I decided to follow a co-workers suggestion and try out a naturopath at Pillars of Health. I booked an appointment with Dr. Jennifer Salib Huber (who is also a dietitian), and immediately felt at ease. She asked me more questions than I think my family doctor has ever asked me, and then was able to determine a likely cause, and a treatment plan including dietary changes and visits to a chiropractor (not a pile of prescription meds!) In three days I had better results than I had had in the past two years, and the following week I went to see Dr. Denise Wright, the chiropractor in the office, who also helped me greatly but with no big whipping or snapping movements that I was scared of. She was also great when it came to putting me at ease, and always uses the gentlest method of adjustment possible. She also suggested I see a Registered Massage Therapist (Meghan L. Munro (Palmer), and all three combined have virtually gotten rid of my headaches. I know for someone without medical coverage this can be expensive but for those who are covered by an insurance plan I would highly recommend all of the staff at Pillars of Health. I also liked that they are trying to help me not have to come back. I know that my sound weird but sometimes I feel like (especially with private practitioners), they want you to keep coming so they keep getting paid, but here getting you better really is their #1 priority. They do direct bill to Blue Cross, and their clinic is very clean and welcoming.

But Helen, my favorite checkout lady at Sobey's, in a few of our chats over the last couple of years has mentioned Dr Katherine MacAdam and told me she was a miracle worker. And she is! After an accident, I needed physio for my wrist/ hand/ arm…read more I had 16 sessions with Laura. My sessions where approximately 40 mins, I saw Laura, the actual physiotherapist for about 5 mins. The rest of the time I was attended to by a clinic assistant * who had a much better bedside manner* The sessions where pretty much the same each time, was not asked specifics about how things were feeling. My final session, which was also an assessment, was very dismissive , Laura focused on how the insurance company would percieve her review and whether they would approve more sessions or not. She told me she would ask for 6 more. * Found out after that she asked for 12. * I had a fitting for a wrist brace that I had been prescribed, was told that it would take about a week. I made many phone calls to Choice for 3 weeks after that. Was given on going conflicting information from Dee at Choice. Was told that I would be able to pick up my brace when It was dropped off by the brace company. Kept calling, and could not get a straight answer about why it had been 4 weeks and still no brace. At one point Dee said " we are waiting for approval" .... I asked from who ? For what? Was told " your insurance company " After being told at the time of the fitting that insurance companies DO NOT direct Bill for braces. I asked why didnt someone try to Ask me about this first. I told Dee that I was paying for the brace, and that I needed it asap. Again was told that when the brace was dropped off, I would be called.... Waited another week. Called back, as well as my injury lawyer , who also spoke to Dee. Dee told my lawyer that I had an appt that very afternoon . I had no idea about this appt. I called and spoke with Emily, who checked that I in fact did NOT have any appt. There is a huge lack of communication at Choice. Between staff, and clients alike. The last time I spoke with Dee, she told me that she would have the brace person call me. THREE weeks later , I received a call from the brace person, * after my lawyer made yet another call to Choice. * was told that she must have been given the Incorrect # for me, as she left a voice mail message weeks before.* I did not have a voicemail message. FINALLY after 6 weeks, I am picking up my brace directly from the brace office, as I want NOTHING else to do with Choice. I DO NOT recommend Choice healthcare in Dartmouth to anyone.

Pros: - Friendly, efficient reception experience - I printed off and completed the New Patient form prior to my visit, which made the transaction even faster. - Clean and modern office. It's quite small, but that's okay. - Wide range of services available: massage, nutrition counseling, physiotherapy, orthotics, etc. - Fantastic first (and second) consultation with Dr. Warren Hefford. He's very upbeat, personable, and efficient. He did a great job of explaining various chiropractic treatments and their intended goals, and he kept the lines of communication open throughout the entire visit. I left feeling rather "worked on", as he told me I would, but the satisfaction of hearing nearly every one of your vertebrae pop outweighed the day or two of soreness that followed. Cons: - The clinic is difficult to access from Main Street if there's any amount of traffic; left turns are darn near impossible. - You will have to book well in advance, at least for evening chiropractic services. I accept that this is the case for most clinics, but I understand that some people might find this frustrating.
