She, the guardian, and her dad, the veteran, were on the manifest for an Honor Flight Cleveland flight to Washington DC on October 15th. Not being from the area, she googled transportation to the airport at 3:30 AM, gave Danny a call and made a reservation. She probably texted him a dozen times, paranoid that something may go wrong and she and her dad would miss this opportunity of a lifetime. Danny was very kind and patient, and assured and reassured her that it would be fine. Well it was better than fine. Toni was their driver who was actually 7 minutes early for the 2:45AM pickup after confirmation texts the day before and another one when he was on his way. The vehicle was clean and comfortable, Toni opened our doors for us, he chatted with us about the area and his different jobs and his skating and the trip, even though it wasn't a very long one to begin with, was over in a blink. I began working with RJT travels on August 8th to plan a trip for beginning of October (last week). I sent out an email blast with what I was looking for and heard back from a few agents, but ultimately went with Mr. Tallon. This was in part due to him letting me believe my girlfriend's parents had booked with him previously and recommended his agency. While he did not outright lie to me about this, when I brought it up he changed topics and did not correct that he had not worked with them. I wish I had caught this type of behavior sooner. Mr. Tallon was also, admittedly, very knowledgeable about his craft and the resort we ended up staying at. I took a lot of his recommendations and found his insight helpful. So why the bad review? First, as soon as he received my deposit the tone shifted. We initially spent a few hours on the phone discussing options, and this process went smooth. As soon as he had the deposit though, the words "there's no reason to bother me until the trip" actually came out of his mouth. I figured this may have been a momentary slip, and didn't pay it much mind. This trip was meant to propose to my girlfriend, so secrecy was a must. I stressed that over and over again, yet multiple times received mail from "RJT Travels" pertaining to our upcoming trip. Had I not been diligent in getting the mail before her, this alone would've blown the entire trip. On top of that there was a secret dinner booked at our resort where menu's needed filled out and turned in in advance. I initially asked Mr. Tallon for the menu's to fill out August 22nd. I received "As I said on the phone yesterday I will send you over the menu". As I had repeatedly felt my planning was bothering Mr. Tallon I left the topic alone. I had to follow up over a month later, September 29th, myself to remind him I needed the menu's filled out. The ultimately never got turned into the resort, which meant the menu's were left printer in the room for us to fill out, for the secret private dinner I had booked for us. So that was pushed to the second day of our trip, with the secret exposed. I also wanted a photographer to already be at the location I had requested so I could just "take a pre-dinner walk" with my girlfriend, show up at the spot, and surprise her with the proposal and not have her know a photographer was there waiting. He told me this was impossible (which Sandals later corrected, and fixed) and instead came up with a sort of compromise which I found begrudgingly agreeable. I wish he had put in a little work to just ask the resort, because they were very happy to work with me and do whatever they could to help. I did, in the room, receive documentation confirming the photo appointment Mr. Tallon made for us, again blowing the "secret" aspect of the proposal. Mr. Tallon was knowledgeable about the resort, and flights (which I had to book myself after he did not get back to me with the info when he said he would). If all you need is someone with knowledge, then I suppose this may be a good fit for you, despite him purposefully misleading me about my girlfriends parent's using him in the past, so proceed warily. However; if you're looking for someone to go above and beyond, who wants to help, this is not your agent. RJT dropped the ball on every aspect of my proposal, and keeping it a secret. I was able to salvage the situation by working with the resort, but I feel my situation would've been better had I just worked with the resort myself to begin with, since I needed to go to them to fix the situation anyway. Mr. Tallon often left me feeling my communications bothered him (which I brought up to him and he never addressed). I will not use this agency again, and I would recommend you don't either.

Communication is a strength of Kathy, as is customer service. We first had Kathy help us plan a winter getaway. She took our wishlist and found the perfect resort in Punta Cana. We were so happy with Kathy's service that we went right back when we planned an Ireland and London vacation. She is extremely knowledgeable and truly wants you to have the best experience possible. They were told that the airline would give them 50 pounds a day to purchase clothes and toiletries. Items were purchased and receipts were turned in to Travel Connections because the airline tickets were booked through them. Now it is 6 months later and we never received a dime back from this travel agency. I would absolutely not use Travel Connections to book a trip!

I used ProTrav dozens of times. They consistently find me the best price, and can often help with…read morethings you just can't get online (like discounted upgrades). They also know the lay of the land, pricing-wise, and can tell if a fare will go down in the near future, ensuring I buy at the right time. They charge $35 to book a flight and I always feel like it's worth it... especially when I need someone to call during the trip if a flight is cancelled or hotel overbooked. No 20 minute holds or off-shore phone reps with this company. Highly recommended.

I know most people just book things online themselves these days, but when I went to Europe about five years ago I found a travel agent (A woman at AAA Travel) to be very helpful and took away a lot of the stress I normally get with planning things. Well, a friend recommended Evelyn at Pro Travel and said that she and her family had used her numerous times with success. So a couple weeks ago I called Evelyn and she was very friendly, but she did not handle Asia so she was going to have a gentleman who specialized in Asian trips give me a call back. I never got a call back. So I decide to try again because it's getting close to the time I need to get my sh*t together for this trip. The second time around the operator connected me with Pat who said she could help me. Pat was friendly at first but after our initial 5 minute phone conversation it became apparent in emails that she was not familiar with travel to Asia and I was having to Google answers to my own questions because she just gave me general/basic information. It was only after I found a flight I liked that she said they charge $35 to book international flights. To be fair I had spur of the moment booked a tour though Contiki because it was almost sold out, but I was wanting a knowledgeable travel agent to help me with the flight, transfers and extra hotel stays before and after the tour. I had been up front about this but when I questioned the fee I received a terse lecture like email telling me I was taking a risk booking on my own and she didn't know why I didn't come to her from the start. I have no problem with paying a fee as long as I am told about it from the start and the service I am getting is actually helpful. I had been hoping to establish a connection with Pro Travel as I plan on taking trips to Spain and the UK in the future, but my brief experience with them has deterred me from seeking a travel agent again. Maybe you'll have better luck with them like my friend did, I just would not recommend Pat.
