Came here for a Labor Day tubing trip down the river and decided to stay the night to enjoy the hiking the following day. This b&b tried its hardest on the breakfast despite the covid precautions with packaged snacks, fruit, assorted coffee and tea. The rooms are really unique, all very spacious with their own bathrooms. And the common space is super cool. Best part are the screened in porch and exterior wrap around porch with rocking chairs. I picked this place because it looks much like my grandmothers house from the 1800s and wow was it similar. Spoke with the owner for an hour about the character and all the special features. It was so cool to learn more and appreciate her passion. I can't wait to come back and enjoy the amazing breakfast she likes to cook and stay in another room to try it out. Each of the second floor bedrooms has an en suite bathroom with different combinations of tubs and/or showers. A huge bonus is a pleasant communal kitchen at the end of the wide hallway which has a small outside landing. We stayed in the Charles Baldwin Room with a lovely four-poster bed. Peggy reviews all breakfast choices for guests with an eye to any specific dietary needs and from continental to full breakfast has generous, delicious options. The welcoming entry opens to a main floor with a quiet living room, classic dining room, and enjoyable game/billiards room. This is not a remodel; this total rebuild was done with thoughtful planning and superb craftsmanship by the owners Dan and Peggy Fisher. Many aspects of the maple window trims, pocket doors, and wood flooring were custom made by Dan and his crew. The exterior is still in process. Wood was an important economic driver of Clinton, so the woodwork is a tribute to the town. We are already revising travel plans to revisit Fisher House. That says it all.

The hubski and I are bed and breakfast lovers, so about 3 years ago we started looking for a bed and breakfast in Illinois to visit. We found Lincoln soon after we started our search and was impressed with their commitment to the environment and local producers. The rooms looked so dreamy and we also saw that we could have the experience of being beekeepers! I was too excited. We booked our 2 night stay for our anniversary. When we got there, we were warmly greeted by Lisa and her team and they checked us in took us on a little tour of the property and then up to our room (we stayed in the carriage house). We parked our car in the heated garage below the carriage house (each room has a spot in the garage). The carriage house was amazing! A huge balcony, full kitchen, 1 full bath, 1 half bath, a full living room and a king bedroom. It was perfect. Our first night in, we made pan seared salmon in the kitchen and the next morning, Lisa came over with a 3 course breakfast! All local products and tasted sooooooo great! That day we went to the farm which had an apple orchard, chickens that provided our eggs for breakfast and we took a ride in the truck around the farm to see the wild flowers and the bees. We suited up and became beekeepers which was so much fun and after we enjoyed a really good lunch prepared for us and pour our own bottle of honey! This is one experience I will never forget We drove to Dixon that night to have dinner at an Italian restaurant and drove back to settle in and enjoy a nice quiet evening. They leave out cookies in the main building so we ran over and took a few and some milk to enjoy while watching tv. The next morning breakfast was equally amazing and we were so sad that we had to leave but we will be back for sure and hopefully try a room in the main house and going for a hike along the trail super close to the inn.
