My son has been with the Pats for a year and he loves it. The coaches are great (Kacy, Sean, George, Mike). It's competitive, yet fun for the kids. The team my son joined has been together for two years and when we joined my boy was "the new kid", but he never felt this way. We felt very welcomed from the very first practice and it's been an absolute pleasure to watch him flourish, and build friendships with the rest of the kids. The club cares more for the kids than the bottom line - in spring season the pats won 90% of the games and in some games we had to play with 6 kids (vs 7) and the boys were still winning as the coaches refused to let anyone in just for the sake of it. Consider it an honor if your kid gets an offer to join the club. A few months ago I signed up my younger son for the prep academy, and he loves it too. It's a joke. What happened to the Pats? It used to be a stand out club rated #1 in the nation, or close to it, with top notch coaching. When you were a Pat, EVERYONE looked up to you. Now, teams are folding, coaching is terrible and it has to be all about the money. Each coach has 3-4 teams they are coaching. That's impossible to have quality coaching that cares about developing the kids. Years ago there were two men who ran the club and kept it at a premium level. What is going on? Now, there is board of several people and that many people can't keep the Pateadore Legacy in place??? Such a shame. I would have picked a negative rating for this club if there was an option, specially Newport Beach/Costa Mesa division. Unfortunately we had our son waste a long time in this club with a very young and unskilled coach. The only thing the coach was good at was bullying the team during practices and games. Director wouldn't help at all as the coach was his relative. They demoted the whole team except for couple of their favorites back to a lower level without informing the parents. A lot of discrimination and favoritism for those couple of favorites only. Please don't waste your time and money on this club! read more

I wish I could give this club a negative 1. The coaches don't really care about developing these kids, because they coach 3 or 4 other teams.. A flight three 9u team at a few thousand dollars a season deserves a coach who cares and isn't on his cell phone during the games. The coaches are always late and sometimes it's a different person who doesn't know the kids. What happened to the Pats? I was sold on professional coaching and development. Worst decision we ever made for our son who loves soccer! It's all about money which okay it's club but this is really bad. Bad coaching. Terrible program. We had 2 boys play in club so we know about clubs. We took a leap of faith with this club and man was it a bait and switch from when we tried out. They don't tell us the best kids were leaving. You get crap coaches and their job is to recruit and get anyone they can. Our coach could care less and the team is horrific cause they let anyone play for money. WORST EXPERIENCE and if I had to do it all over again I would never choose this club. RUN and find other clubs that care about the kids. My son is good but playing worse with this club. I am enraged and my son is heartbroken over our experience with pats. Disorganized and careless. They folded the team a week after my son tried out, made the team and took our payment. They have issued a refund but my son was gutted to have gone from making a club he had dreamed of playing for for years to having no team and no options because all the tryouts are over. I wish there was a zero rating. We enrolled our 5 year old grandson in the City of Newport Beach soccer camp operated by Pateadores. This was the worst organized and poorly designed camp I have ever seen. We were enrolled for a 5 day camp, which included a variety of age groups from 4 to 10. The first day the groups were divided into age categories, with a lot of talking by coaches about the next 4 days. Out of the 3 hours of camp, 2 hours the kids were sitting, taking water or snack breaks, or watching one person at a time drills, but actually not doing the drill because time ran out. Second and third day was divided into warmup activities for the first half and scrimmage sessions the second half. Again only an hour of actual activity occurred each day. Not much kid control between activities, so the kids would run amok, some hitting each other, pushing and shoving. The coaches assigned to the 4-6 age group were more concerned about practicing their own skills rather than helping each kid with anything. Wednesday was our last day as we won't attend the rest of the week. Following is my log of activities for Wednesday: Soccer Wednesday - 9:10 gather and sit. Form lines by age group. Very disorganized trying to separate into groups.. - 9:17 start playing tag - 9:25 water break - 9:30 more chasing - 9:45 turned into mayhem, no direction . Kids getting pushed, pushing back. Some kids hitting. - 9:50 starting some drill, still tag - 9:55 sitting in circle passing ball. Now just sitting - 10:00 water break - 10:12 one at a time ball kicking drill. Everybody else sitting. This is a terrible drill . Most kids didn't do drill because of time - 10:25 break - 10:40 running amok - 11:00 picked up all balls - 11:10 divide up into boys and girls teams. Coaches help the girls score and take the balls away from the boys. Boys complain how unfair it is. - 11:20 water break - 11:40 back on field. Mixed teams. Kids push others out of goal onto ground. - 11:55 end read more

This soccer club is a joke. If I could provide a Zero rating I would. All they want is your money. I have multiple issues with this organization: 1) Terrible communication from VP of Operations 2) Coach has been absent more times than he has been at practice (excuses vary from not enough kids RSVPing - 6, to wind, to fire, to air quality, to Covid, to sickness, I could go on and on) 3) Coach is lazy, drills are sub par, approach is less than inspiring 4) Org took PPP and still asked members to pay full price, for sub par services Overall, awful. This club is a complete rip off!!! The director Mike Rubio even said he came into this club couple years ago to try and help out as it was falling apart. My child joined in the middle of the season and they charged my credit $4,000. My child only got to play few months the coach ended the season. We had no tournaments or state cup. This is the most depressing club ever! I've talked with many parents about the same problem. Mike Rubio's response was take us to court it wouldn't be our first! I was in complete shock!!! read more

Buyer beware with the Pats! My daughter signed with the Pats and we paid for 6 months before ever playing a game. We had several different coaches during that time, all saying we will play games and never did. Once we did play, which was in the Fall, our coach only showed up about 1/2 the time. He had other teams within the club (4) and he seemed to be at their games more than ours. He would often get a sub to coach, but it's not the same. At first he would tell the team he would be absent, other times there was no communication. We would often show up for the 1hr warm up and we'd have no coach. We played at State Cup and our coach didn't even come to our games and didn't communicate that to parents until after our first game. I reached out to the club to voice frustration. They replied saying that it isn't unusual for coaches to miss games to cover other games and that we were never to play spring and summer games. So we paid $1900 for a Fall season of soccer. I'd suggest you consider playing AYSO or find another club before signing with the PATS. $1900 seems like a lot forma season with a coach who only shows up half the time and play 20ish games of soccer. That equates to $95/game. read more

Hello, if I could give a Pat's Scv review with zero stars I would! I agree with VW! Poorly run, unorganized chapter within the club! Desperately grasping at straws trying to create teams with 5-8 players and no hopes to form legitimate teams that can compete beyond bronze or flight 3 levels. Sure they have a couple of teams that are good flight one teams but that's it. Those teams will age out and they will end up with whatever players don't play at the other poorly run clubs in the area. The best coach they had, had a B license and they didn't renew his contract. The rest of the coaching staff have lower entry level licenses. Field space always seems to be a problem. No support for goalies, less then 10 trainings with an unqualified coach. In my opinion there are better options if your child wants to play at a high level. I suggest looking outside Scv as I think the entire area will continue to struggle as it is a money first area and the kids come second. Stay away from Pat's Scv, and spend your money on your child without the stress of worrying about if you'll have enough quality players to compete and offer your child a good experience rather then a crappy one. read more

i would have to say that this organization is found on taking your money n not on developing the kids. if you want your kid to be depressed. then go head n sign them up with this organization. if you want your kid to be a good soccer player, develop their skills then sign them up with the slammers, galaxy or another fc. read more

Be Careful!! Empty promises, the entire year fee doesn't cover single tournament except the league. READ THE CONTRACT before signing up. Later, they come out to parents asking $$$ for tournament fee, ref fee etc They dont come clean and always MARKUP the numbers and suck in $$$ from parents. We left them this year at LB branch. You pay whole lot for poor service.. biased coach, with substandard parks/facilities.Good Luck!! read more

Although I'd give 4 stars for the quality of the coaching, and all soccer aspects of the club, I deduct one star for management. Unfortunately, this club is one of the most stingy, money grabbing clubs out there. They charge a pretty penny in annual fees ( 2100 at a minimum), but then make you pay additional for uniforms and practice gear. Then comes the "mandatory" $100 raffle tickets. To top that, on travel tournaments, club is too cheap to cover coaches travel expenses and passes it on to parents. It's nothing short of absurd. I'm just surprised at the blatant greed; It's revolting. The people imposing this should be ashamed of themselves. read more

The Huntington Beach division of this soccer club team is run by David Zilpa. Not only does he not know anything about soccer, but he also could care less about teaching it. He does not care at all to develop his players. He only wants to take your money. He is mean, selfish, and has no idea how to develop kids into good soccer players. Stay away. read more
