It's a good thing I went to the ER because I was having an A-fib event. It ended up correcting itself while I was in the ER but I was told I needed to follow up with a Cardiologist. My boss at my work referred Dr. Doherty and I'm glad he did. Dr. Doherty is a very intelligent and thorough Cardiologist. He went to Harvard Med and worked at Cedars Sinai, and that should be all the credentials you'll need in choosing him. I haven't had any issues since I have become a patient of his and I feel like I'm in good hands in case something does happen.

I had an appointment but still ended up waiting almost 2 hours before being seen. The entire time, the office manager's behavior made the environment uncomfortable, unprofessional, and stressful for both patients and staff. It's disappointing because the doctor himself is excellent, but the toxic environment created by the office manager overshadows his care and makes the office very unwelcoming. After COVID my thyroid gland went nuts - I experienced a lot "more" .. hair loss, insomnia, fatigue, muscle weakness and loss, extreme sensitivity to cold, numbness in a few fingers and toes, a hoarse voice, anxiety, no libido, and excessively dry skin, to name a few issues. Doctor Shah spent 1.5 hours with me on my first office visit, treated me as an individual (not an age), and listened attentively to the pain, suffering, and frustration I was going thru. He reviewed all the medical records I brought with me, and requested a panel of other lab work, along with a couple thyroid tests I never heard of before. Nine months later almost to the day, I am sleeping better, I awake each morning lighter and happier, my hair loss has stopped, I am back at the gym able to workout, and my hoarse voice is gone. Greeted by SWEET Rocio medical staff as soon I arrived. Informed me someone canceled so able to be seen by Zhang technician right away once I checked in was called already. Given very professional care with test by Zhang Technician. Then had to wait for other test, was very busy waited awhile since it was Dr. Tye doing the test. Did not mine waiting for him. Rocio gotten me ready for my test. Dr. Tye came in joke around to keep me calm like his friendly self. Then when completed Brian came in to get all the information from Dr.Tye. WOW! I asked my primary medical doctor during my annual physical to request a Coronary Artery Calcium…read morescan. He referred me to Dr. Tye to get him to request it. First appointment is a month out. Sure, I take it. Get to the office, fill out all of the history paperwork and then wait. Brought into the treatment room, wait another 50 minutes. Now before I share what my experience was, here is a bit of background of the type of patient I am. With me, I brought 5 years of blood test result that related to metabolic health including NMR cholesterol testing, Blood Glucose and Insulin readings, and basically anything that could be used to monitor cardiac health. Now, to make it easy for the doctor, all of this was on an excel spreadsheet accompanied by all of the tests that could be used to verify. Now to the appointment. Dr Tye walks in, walks right past me, never even greeted me, walks over to a paper and starts asking me all of the questions that I had already filled out in the waiting room. Asks why I am here and I explain that I am requesting a CAC and that I am also looking for a cardiologist that I can work with to monitor my heart health. Before even looking at my spreadsheet, he states that , "You're Healthy". I show him my spreadsheet, which he looks at for less than 30 seconds and then states that he will not request the CAC because, "they are a waste of time and the only reasons that doctors request them is to make money" which I didn't even understand how that would work. So I asked him, "You are denying my request? No answer. He asks me to sit on the exam table, pulls up the back of my shirt and then just walks out. I sat there for 7 minutes and decided I had enough. Walked out. Complete waste of time. CAC scores are recommended to diagnose the level of damage done earlier in life (I am 61). Without that as a baseline, you have no idea of where you stand and no reference to whether or not things are getting worse. I have spent hundreds of hours studying metabolic health and cholesterol and have a "fairly good handle" on it. Now remember, I am probably not the average patient, in that I order all of my own blood tests and watch them like a hawk. I presented him with all of the evidence that a CAC would be warranted, (which he neglected to spend time looking at) and then just basically walked out of the room with no explanation as to where he was going. Side note: The office did call me four times after I left, once leaving a message that the doctor wasn't done and went to get some documentation which I assume related to his denying my request for a CAC. Overall, don't waste your time, as he is obviously one of those Statin prescribing doctors that does not treat root cause, ie metabolic dysfunction. In addition to zero personality and a complete disregard for obviously the type of patient I was presenting as, do not waste your time here. He was wrong in his assessment of the importance of the CAC score as evidenced by multiple heart surgeons, (all of whom recommend the scan) and Phd's in the field of metabolic health. I say this strongly as someone, who again, has spent countless hours reading and watching interviews with doctors and surgeons. If I could give less than a zero, I would.
