During our initial tour, we were told they taught the kids sign language. I was skeptical, but was proven wrong when at 6 months he was signing "more" and "eat" to communicate his needs. I will also be forever grateful for Miss Pam, the teacher in the infant room that helped me get the hang of being a first time working mom. I remember seeing my son roll for the first time and was so excited about it. When I asked Miss Pam how long he'd been doing it, she told me "the first time he does it is when you see it." They do a great job of arranging fun events for the kids; coming up with all sorts of themes and art projects to keep them engaged. They even have an annual petting zoo and water games in the summer. My son loved it there and still remembers all his teachers that took great care of him and his friends that he grew up with. We definitely miss it there and I highly recommend TLE to anyone that is considering them for childcare. The curriculum and environment are top notch and the teachers and the administrative staff truly care not just about the children but for the parents as well.

I originally was going to TLE in Waldwick (which is wonderful by the way) but decided to transfer to Ramsey since it was closer to my new home. This daycare was much older looking than the one in Waldwick but I assumed it was clean and my son was being cared for which is all that really mattered to me. Well from day 1 my son came home filthy, white socks were BLACK, food stuck to his clothes, hair and face everyday. I let it go for a week because I didn't want to seem "annoying" which I had every right to be but I figured I'd let it slide temporarily. Until week 2 when he came home with full blown pink eye! Green junk flowing out of his eyes when I picked him up and no one mentioned a thing to me! When I mentioned it, no one had noticed anything wrong with him apparently. My son has had pink eye before but never to this extreme, to the point that his eyes were almost sealed shut and it lasted over 2 weeks. I asked the teacher why I was not called and she said she did tell Tara, one of the directors but apparently she FORGOT to call me. So all day long apparently no one realized that a 10 month old with visible pink eye was still in the class and no parent had yet to pick him up? Absolutely unacceptable. I received no apology or acknowledgement from Tara for neglecting to call me. I waited about another week to see if there was any improvement of cleanliness but every single day my son came home looking like he was rolling around in dirt. I pulled him out within 3 weeks of attending this daycare. I complained to Neelam, the other director - she was very understanding and apologized for the negligence. After complaining, I was refunded one week of tuition. Truthfully, I should've fought for the entire month of reimbursement but I just wanted to cut ties immediately. Flash forward about 6 weeks, I finally get a reimbursement check after following up 3 times. I show up at the daycare to pick of the check that was handed to me by Tara, yet again no acknowledgement or apology for my horrible experience. ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE, WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND!!! If you love and care for your children's well-being, please please please do your research before committing to this daycare. It was by no means cheap but you could never expect to find this in a Ramsey, NJ daycare.

She started in the Infant class, then moved to Young Toddlers, and finally transitioned to the Older Toddler class at 18 months--three thoughtfully designed classrooms based on age and development. She thrived at LAC. I never once doubted the care, attention, and love she received from her teachers. The teachers are true professionals--nurturing, highly skilled, and running incredibly organized classrooms that still manage to be full of joy, play, and silliness. The facility is always clean, and safety is clearly a priority. Communication with parents is easy and consistent through an app that allows updates and photos, which teachers shared regularly. Recently, when my daughter started speaking and I'd ask, "Do you want to go to school today?" and she'd smile real big and say, "Yes!" *It's also worth noting that LAC went through an administration change around the time we started, so my experience is based on the newest leadership team and current teachers. I can't speak to anything prior to Fall 2024 under the previous administration.

They have made the decision to require COVID testing or a required 14-day quarantine for the families that were exposed. They also said that they would be putting together a better safety plan and a parent committee to work alongside in implementing these changes. The classrooms were well stocked, seemed very safe, the administration staff was lovely. The building is beautiful. Kids are terrific. I liked most (all?) of the teachers except, sadly, for my daughter's teacher. I don't want to "out" anybody so I won't mention her name, but she was much too stoic for a preschool teacher. Rarely smiled. Never seemed happy. Her natural resting face was sort of a half-scowl that makes her look unhappy. She wasn't a warm person, and it made me sad to think that my daughter's first teacher wasn't a warm, loving, smiley person. Stoic. There WERE teachers that were warm, loving, and smiley. Just not my daughter's teacher. The assistant teacher was very nice, but quiet and not very engaging. The curriculum didn't seem all that challenging to me. I realize it's a preschool, but come on! The students are presumably from good families with parents who take an active role in their child's learning. That's one of the reasons why the kids are not in public school. The curriculum of preschool could've been more challenging. I didn't think the Spanish education was particularly strong. After a full year at Maryel my daughter couldn't express "I have", "I want", "I am", "I feel". I've been teaching my daughter Hebrew, just 30 minutes a day and she mastered these things in Hebrew. It seems odd that she didn't master these basic components of communication in Spanish after a full year. In fact, I'm completely at a loss how that's even possible. Lack of transparency on the website. I tried to look at my daughter's teacher's credentials: her degrees, where she obtained her degree, academic achievements and specialties, etc. Even a short biography. This is pretty commonplace for private schools, but I didn't see that information on their website. To me this possibly indicates a high turnover rate in teachers, which indicates a low teacher salary, which indicates less-than-optimal education. Considering that one year of my daughter's preschool cost more than one year of my PhD, I expect high quality. Someone at the school smokes; I can smell it in the halls. The kids have to climb considerable stairs to get to their classrooms. The daily reports were appreciated; I wish they didn't have so many spelling and grammar mistakes. I'm not a grammar Nazi, but when it comes to academics, I kind of expect... I don't know... a better quality of writing. One last thing on my mind. The kids would have music activities, and the choice of songs was simply dreadful. There are so many wonderful, melodic, kid friendly songs yet the teacher picked awful songs for a pre-K. Songs with weak or even ugly melodies. Songs with poorly chosen Spanish for 3/4 year old Spanish learners. I would watch videos of the songs the class would sing and just be floored at how poorly chosen the songs were. I don't want to seem like I hated our year there. It's a decent school, really. That's why I gave it 3 stars, which indicates "A-OK". It's just that for the money, I was expecting something much, much different. I was expecting much higher standards.
