Because I'm a veteran, I've been entitled to many things. The Hartford Veterans Center which is actually in Rocky Hill is the best place to go for any issues as a veteran. This is a federally funded institution, but is not affiliated with the Veterans Administration Hospital. So they are in a sense a 3rd party federally funded institution. Come here if you have any issues. Whether it be educational, legal, financial, medical, social, psychological or vocational they got you covered. Many of those who work there have AT LEAST Masters degrees, being great resources in what they went to school for. Any issues I had they always found a solution. I had issues with receiving money for school and issues with compensation and pension and they were able to be that support for me. They were enthusiastic and relentless in ensuring that I got what I wanted. Sometimes these places that give you your benefits are stingy, so the Vet Center makes sure that you get what you deserve, are happy and justice is served.

From the lake and hiking trails to the numerous playgrounds and pavillions Winding trails offers a variety of options. Close to the interstate you would not know that while you are here. It was that serene and tranquil. My firm had our recent company you outing hee and had a wonderful time using the property for our "Olympic" competition. We were provided with shaded pavillions as a central eating/meeting location and equipment to use for sand volleyball kickball and a relay race (which included a canoe of ride around the lake). There were several other groups on the property but I never felt "on top of them" The grounds were clean and well kept with our plenty of garbage cans and recycling bins to dispose of our catered lunch from Bear's BBQ (which was as good as eating at their brick and motor store in Hartford). It also looked like there were individual families enjoying the property but I am not sure if Winding Trails offers a separate membership for that. If you are looking for a place to hold an event large or small, I highly recommend checking Winding Trails.

I chose this day care because my sister already had her son (3 y/o) enrolled since he was 12 weeks old and they've always loved it. He is learning so much and is having so much more fun than if I had tried to continue working from home, splitting my attention. This isn't just childcare while I'm at work; it's more like enrichment for baby with all the toys, craft projects, learning and people to socialize with. They even give him extra attention at the end of the day because he's usually last to get picked up, he must feel popular. When I come get him, he's always laughing and having fun. I've even seen kids cry during pick-up at end the of day because they're having so much fun & don't want to go home lol. I'm a real nervous nelly and always worry about safety & just the first week he spent here had me feeling totally secure about the level of care and safety precautions in place here, I could immediately tell he was never ever left to cry either which is very important to me. Until he started day care I would hold him for all his naps and the first part of the night lol and never let him cry, so of course he wouldn't fall asleep in the crib and the wonderful ladies here held him for his naps until he could gently get used to napping in a crib. Now he's in with the toddlers napping as scheduled like a champ. They really go above & beyond in every way that I can even think of. They send us pictures and video throughout the day and the toddlers are sitting nicely together and even sitting on their own mats in circle time to read and sing. It's amazing! They also have a very safe outdoor play area my son is obsessed with. Somehow, they manage to have the toddlers start to form lines and they go in and out of the play area in an orderly way I'd expect from kindergarteners. I'd assume any child who's been going here is going to be leagues ahead when it's time to enter the school system, they are learning so much! He is so happy and LOVES the staff here, he was literally diving into their arms during drop-off, smiling so big, by 6 months old! The staff help each baby through every milestone and difficulty, and it seems their speech develops so much faster from being there as well. I also noticed staff from the baby room working in the toddler room while my baby was transitioning, which I find so refreshing that he didn't have to just go into a new room with all new people right away during his stranger-danger phase. They are also great at logging intake and elimination each day so you can keep track. Since my son has started here there has not been once single incident, not one single injury, nor one single time that I've been unhappy or felt like I had anything to complain or worry about which is absolutely amazing! Additionally, they are obviously diligent about sanitizing because my baby has only been sick twice this entire year, so there seems like minimal spread when anyone does get sick. The membership fee is $10. The place has useful resource for those people who work in the human service arena. Teachers, health professionals, parents, and consumers who know someone who might have mental health issues should utilize the resources available here. The literature you find here are the mini books many of us might have been given when we were in grade school. I've recently read a few of them and the content is amazing. It's great for parents who want to educate themselves prior to sitting down and talking to their children about drugs, bullying, anxiety or suicide. Whatever the issue there seem to be resources available you can take with you and read in the comfort of your own home. They have books and audiovisuals that you can borrow for 21 days. Great for school projects or a confused parent seeking information. They also offer tons of information on seminars for health professionals. Seriously Yelpers if you have children who are being bullied or wet the bed there will be material you can find to help your child get through it all!! I think this place is great and wish more people knew it existed. I know this is the age of computers but some of the printer material here can't be found on the internet. I like having the resources here available for patients because it makes life easy and it is a nice review. Reading material is available in both English and Spanish for most topics.
