I have had four driving lessons with Evald out of the package of 10 we bought and I have reached my limit. Evald is rude, condescending, unprofessional, and does not have the patience to be a driving instructor of someone who is just learning to drive. Our first lesson, I kid you not, he started chatting with his friend on the phone. He would also spend a lot of the time looking on his phone in every single one of our lessons. I decided I will give him a few more chances since then, but it has only gotten worse. Evald will yell at you if you did something wrong. He will also tell you contradicting things while you're driving and then get mad when you're simply following his instructions. He called me "too emotional" when I have kept a straight face the whole time and the only person getting emotional and yelling was him. At one point today we were on a narrow neighborhood street and a truck was oncoming, so I slowed down and asked him what do I do with the truck and he yells "Why are you stopping? Nobody told you to stop! What truck are you talking about?" So I said "A truck is right there", and he FINALLY looks ahead and says "Oh I see the truck." How am I, the student, noticing these things and not the instructor? Please think twice before scheduling a lesson with Evald. For somebody who owns the school, he sure knows how to drive his business to the ground, as all of the poorest reviews here have him as the common denominator. They will be putting me with another driver instructor so I will reassess my review after that, but until then, Evald deserves nothing more than a 1-star. read more

I paid for 12 lessons and after that was told I needed more time after 20 lessons and $2000 spent I have no license. The driving instructor, Evald, is horribly unprofessional. He and his "patient" driving school don't even deserve 1 star. I was trying to schedule a road test. Evald was horribly erratic at replying to messages and checking his email. Most conversations with him took place when he was teaching his students WHILE THEY WERE DRIVING. Half the time I didn't know if he was talking to me or the student. Evald speaks with a heavy accent, and I only mention this because it was extremely diffcult to understand exactly what he was saying. At times, his thinking isn't logical or clear, and he doesn't provide all the information up front. The day of the road test, he changed the meetup time and place, which proved difficult for the road test applicant, who was working at his job. Please give some notice! Then it was changed back to the original time and place. Then it was cancelled altogether because I was "rude" and had a bad attitude. There is nothing patient about patience driving school. I had the worst experience of my life driving with this instructor. _To begin with the vehicle used was completely worn out, the interiors were tattered and dirty and the car was generally over used and old _Evald, the instructor, spent 3/4 of our 2 hour lesson on the phone arranging other lessons! Considering that you are spending $40 per hour on the lessons that is highly unacceptable _When not on the phone, he was condescending and kept asking me whether I even knew how to drive! I kept explaining that I was nervous about driving on the other side of the road and hence wanted to take these lessons in the first place - regardless...he shouldn't be so condescending to his pupils _He raised his voice several times especially whilst on the highway - that is UNACCEPTABLE All in all, it was a terrible experience and I urge those of you considering Patience Driving School to re-evaluate your options. I spent the entire lesson scared of an instructor raising his voice, being unable to ask any of the questions I had and completely neglected for the sheer amount of time he spent on the phone. My daughter took the road test and failed twice, because of her lack of confidence and poor training delivered by the instructor "Evald". He had me paid him $140 twice for this road test, charged me the same amount as the first time for her to retake the road test! He's a thief, rude, and very unprofessional! The reason why I reached out to him to take on my daughter's driving lessons it's because in the past he thought my sister, brother, mother, and myself driving, but his attitude has changed over the years, now he's a lot more focused on taking your money than being a good instructor! Very disappointed on his behavior! I will take my business elsewhere! I have two other sons that will need driving lessons in the future and it won't be with him, I tell you that! Evaldo has a great driving teacher skills..I was a extremely nerves driver ,because of it he was my last option based on Yelp . I also did many lessons with differents listed driving shools ,they all pick up phone to answer calls, except one the charges 75 per class in Medford. Evald is pacient ,teaches you everything you need to know for the test, he was able to give me advices about my insecurities on the wheel and what to do about it.if you really want to be a good driver guess you will handle some honesty ...above all Evald is funny and well prepared to give you any driving tips you for life, I really didn't have that with any other driving teachers ,with others felt like waiting my money...Because of Evald I have my driving license. read more

I would strongly recommend that anyone who is planning to take driving lessons from Evald should think ten times as it will be a total waste of their hard earned money. 1) He is very unprofessional and is always on the phone all the time. He does not guide you or offer any advice on mistakes you make while driving. You are expected to know, while his job is being on the phone and thinking of ways to make more and more money. What a shame not to have a conscience and a sense of responsibility towards his students! 2) He is not good at communicating and even when you implore him to speak, it is very difficult to understand him. He has a very very strong accent, nothing wrong with that, but it would have helped him and his business if he understood what it means to be a teacher. 3) Instead he is rudeness personified, highly argumentative with a big massive ego. One of the greatest irony is that he has named his school "Patience Driving School," when in reality he has a temperament that is exact opposite of the name he gave to his one man school. Anyways, I totally agree with Nellie T that anyone thinking of taking lessons from him should reconsider their decision. If you're a new learner driver and planning to take driving lessons somewhere, stay far from this school

Evald, the guy who I took my test with is a nice, friendly person. I took a lesson last year and finished my written test, and went back to him this year for my road test. I failed the first test due to my own fault, because I turned on a red without stopping. I did pass the 2nd test though. Overall his lessons are quite good, he answers questions...althought sometimes it takes me a while to understand what he means. Only after I make a mistake 2 or 3 times...I get what he meant and correct it. But that's fine - those things happen. I ended up paying 10$ more than what we agreed upon because he didn't have change at that time. It wasn't about the money - I can afford the 10$ more and its not a big deal - just that I didn't like someone going back on their commitment. He also mentioned that I was kinda lucky on the test and other instructors would have failed me. I guess the RMV rep I got was a nice guy and a bit lenient and also seemed very friendly with Evald - all of which contributed to my passing. I hope I passed on my own merit - honestly. Not that I saw any huge mistakes, but hey..who knows. But overall, this is how it is - driving schools are intermediaries between you and the RMV and you have to go through them. Its very hard otherwise, more so if you are an international on a work visa and no car or person to act as your sponsor. I failed my road test half a month ago, and also have taken a few classes of some another driving school in Chinatown before that test, but I have to say, I learnt nothing from those courses, they just let me drive and didn't point out anything I did wrong or give me any useful tips. Luckily, for preparing the second test, I chose Patience Driving School, and got my DL so easily that I cannot believe it's true. I get trained for 3 hours, and Evald, the coach and owner of the school, taught me a lot of tricks in turning, parallel parking and three point turns. Besides, Evald has ran this school for 20 years. He's one of the most patient and friendly people I've ever met in US. If you are afraid of being yelled by teacher when driving, choose him! You will soon enjoy the experience of driving and get improved in skills. read more

BEWARE!!! My wife called this driving school to schedule a lesson they did not return the call in a timely manner so she made other arrangements. We were surprised to get a text from them saying that they had scheduled a driving test. I responded to the text saying that we never wanted them to schedule a test and that she had been looking for lessons but that other arrangements had been made. Imagine our surprise when 2 weeks later we get a call to confirm her driving test. She explained that she had never asked to have a driving test scheduled and referred him to our previous text. Imagine our greater surprise! when he called back a few minutes later to tell us that he had gone in and canceled the test she had scheduled herself, now there are no tests available. I would not recommend doing buisness with this school and defiantly do not give them your license number when they ask for it. We will contact the RMV and make a complaint. read more

I tried out both Love Driving School and Patience. Both were good, but in different ways. Eval, the teacher from Patience Driving School, is a positive person and encouraging teacher and I found it a lot easier to relax as a new driver with him. He gave me good practice and suggestions on different driving moves without getting frustrated or over-controlling. This helped me especially because I tend to get angry at myself with mistakes. I ended up passing my test on my first try! By contrast, Durant (from Love Driving) is more experienced at driving training and knows more specifically what you need to pass the test. He focuses on getting those particular things just right, and continues to micro-manage them until the thinks they're acceptable, but he made me feel less confident and less relaxed and did not focus as much on my overall driving ability. I recommend a combination of both of them if you're very new! read more

If you're a new learner driver and planning to take driving lessons somewhere, stay far, and i repeat, far away as possible from this school. The owner at this school, named Evald, is unprofessional in so many ways. Like what most reviewers have complained about, he is constantly on the phone throughout the whole lesson making appointments for other lessons and would expect you to know where to go while he is on the phone ( now, for a learner driver, that's a bad idea becausoe especially if its in an area where the student isn't familiar with, how are they supposed to know where to go and what to do without proper instruction?). At times, he can act really condescending towards you and make you feel really uncomfortable driving. Instead of giving you helpful suggestions for mistakes you've made, he will help you, but at the same time, talk down on you in the process and even have the audacity to raise his voice, at times. But like i said, he will help you, but not in a nice manner most of the time. Usually, when he picks you up for a lesson, the student from the previous lesson will be in the backseat and he would make you look stupid in front of the other student if you did something wrong during your lesson. Sometimes, he would forget to show up for lesson after booking it. One lesson, he would say you're ready for the test and then the next, would say that you will need another 5 -10 lessons. MAKE UP YOUR MIND! All in all, Unless you want to waste all your hard earned money at this school, I would advise you to take your business elsewhere and chose a different driving school. I also find it funny on their website, there is quote saying that "there is nothing better than turning my students into safe and confident drivers."
