I had a very good experience here, but unlike the people who feel slighted because "I went in with a high heart rate. They took an EKG, did this and that, and then said 'I should go to the ER' " Isn't this exactly why these places exist. They are the go between your doctor, who probably can't see you for 6 weeks, and the ER where you aren't sure you are sick enough to warrant calling 911. I was there on a weekday afternoon -- 3 ish -- not a long wait ... maybe 5 minutes, was pretty sure I wasn't dying, but needed a question answered. A doctor conferred with someone else and they gave me the answer, and out I went. If you have a broken femur, are vomiting up blood by the bucket, your BP is barely registering, for heaven's sake, call 911. That's why they exist. But don't knock Patient First because they told you you should see a specialist. read more

I will definitely be going back to this Patient First next time I am feeling under the weather. Every person I came in contact with was extremely kind and made me feel comfortable. There was a bit of a wait but that is expected for any sort of medical center. I was brought into a patient room within minutes of signing in and evaluated by a nurse immediately. Once the doctor was able to see me, he was very efficient but took the time to answer all of my questions. Great experience! read more

Been to this place maybe twice. For small things. At one point they demanded i pay them over $300 for one of my quick visits. They must have had a reason but i never did anything there that would cost me that much..They call me years later after we already payed them now saying i owe them more money even though i haven't been there in years. ill say im never going there again but that doesn't seem to matter because i still owe them. read more

Nice facility but terrible employees with lackadaisical work ethic and very slow with anything work related. The doctor that I visited also must have graduated at the bottom of his class because he knew nothing and would give one word answers to my questions. It was almost like talking to a wall. Patient First is also not transparent when it comes to billing. I have no issue what so ever paying a bill when it comes to my health, but when I'm lied to it's a different story. I have health insurance via Anthem which has a decent deductible, co-pay, etc. but they will tell you one thing while you're there then few days/weeks later they will hit you with a bunch of random miscellaneous expenses. I had asked up front what my total is after being placed on the nebulizer, having a chest x-ray done and purchasing a new inhaler so that I can just pay it and be done. Though, for some reason they never mentioned anything, then sent me a five hundred odd dollar bill in the mail and automatically set me up in a monthly payment plan with the card they have on file for me. Like why not bill me immediately after I was finish my examination even when I asked what my bill was? Needless to say more, I should have stuck with Kaiser Permanente. read more

Dr. Summers is a piece of work. The first thing she did upon entering my room was give me grief about my mask. I wore a mask out of respect for the facility but everyone knows by now they are just theatre. No one else had any problem with my mask, which covered my nose and mouth but was bandana-style. The doctor made a big ordeal about forcing me to put on one of their paper masks, which required me to fully remove my other mask in order to put it on. It was a ridiculous power trip, but I did it. However, during the exam, I asked the doctor to check my ear that has been bothering me in relation to my throat, and she insisted that "my ears were clear" even though she had not yet looked in them. She then checked my ears at my insistence, said they were clear, and ordered a chest x-ray I didn't need. I ended up walking out. They called me more than an hour later to ask where I went. I bet they would have let me sitting in the room that long too. read more

Go elsewhere if you can. They take forever and they're extremely rude about wait time. I completely understand you can't tell me a time frame but after sitting in a room for an hour I think a curtesy let me check might be nice. Receptionist at check-in was a bit prickly / could have smiled some, but maybe she'd had a bad day. Overall the visit was great. Prompt care (had to wait less than 5 minutes in the waiting room, and another 5-10 in the exam room), and the rest of the staff was very pleasant and helpful. read more

This clinic is awful. Front desk service was great, friendly, accommodating. But in the actual clinic, I have never been faced with such incompetence in any setting, let alone a medical one. The nurses are the only thing going for it. After a ridiculously long wait in the exam room even though I was one of maybe 4 patients in the clinic, I was finally seen by the PA, when I was expecting to be seen by a physician. After barely asking me any questions or showing any concern for my anxiety, she spent a long time writing up a report and acting like she would be able to prescribe me something, and then handed me a slip of paper telling me that since I have never been on anxiety meds before she couldn't give me any. So what was the point of that whole assessment...to pay to get referred to someone else? That was great for my anxiety... Before walking out of there having wasted $75 just to be told that I couldn't be helped, I decided to see if I could speak to a physician. I was told she was just finishing with a patient and I waiting silently and anxiously in a room for 45 minutes before anyone came back. When she came in she was condescending, demeaning, unprofessional, and insulting to me, telling me to rethink my career choice of wanting to be a doctor because it seemed clear that I couldn't handle the stress of pre-med. She spoke to me like I was 5 years old, telling me to "blow out the candles on the birthday cake" as I took deep breaths and then kept reiterating that she didn't have a "magic wand" that would "fix me" since my brain was so far off "normal". She made me repeat after her that I would promise to turn my phone off at night because "too many kids are on twitter these days and they're creating these problems (anxiety) for themselves". If that wasn't indirectly blaming me for my anxiety... These are actual words she used with me. When I said that pre-med was a little stressful she told me that no I was wrong actually pre-med is easy and just wait till I get to residency because that's where suicide rates are highest and am I sure I"m really cut out for this field? She told me to find something that really made me happy (and implied that I was only interested in medicine because my parents were probably telling me to) and then went on to brag about how noble she was and that even if she didn't get paid she would still be a doctor because she just loves it that much. All I wanted was some validation and medicine for my anxiety and I left feeling 100000x worse than I did when I had come in. Dr. Summers humiliated me, made me feel more vulnerable than ever, and seemed to discredit any physical anxiety symptoms I was having, making it feel like my entire visit was just a big overreaction to a problem that I should be "strong" enough to handle. I don't know how a doctor can treat her patients with so little respect and think that she's being personable or doing anyone a favor--I will never step foot back in this clinic again or refer anyone here. read more

I end up here a few times a year as I get older and things tend to strain, sprain and twist a little more easily. They have everything under one roof. Waiting times are usually pretty good. Usually I never wait more that 30-45 minutes to actually see the doctor. What I like is they can usually fill my prescriptions while I am there, saving me time. The staff is professional, pleasant and attentive. They have a solid check in process and triage staff. I am usually in and out in about an hour, though it depends upon the season (flu) or time of day. I use them all the time instead of my primary care provider who is not available on weekends of evenings. Very convenient for me to use located on York Rd, right off the beltway. They accept insurance and of course cash. read more

I would highly suggest that you stay away from patient first. Not only have we had multiple incorrect diagnoses from my mother almost losing her hearing to3 incorrectly diagnosed broken bones, But they also consistently ask for credit cards and balance bill even when your co-pay has been taken. They ask for the credit card so that they can just automatically charge your credit card even if they are not billing correctly. The last set of broken bones that we went to patient first for they billed as a primary care visit and then sent me to collections. My mother almost lost her hearing because they miss diagnosed a hole in her ear drum. My entire family has a primary care physician and we only use patient first as urgent care. There are many other urgent care facilities within the state of Maryland who consistently diagnosed correctly and do not play the games with the billing. I would suggest that you try any one of those. And I have been in healthcare for 25 years in management, and don't make posts like this very often I would just highly suggest that you stay away! read more

I get B-12 shots on a regular basis because I have health problems and my stomach cannot absorb B-12 on its own. So I'm tired all the time without it. I went here hoping to get my routine B-12 shot (I had already went to a couple of other clinics, and they were out of stock). The doctor was extremely rude to me and refused to help me. You'd think I was asking for a controlled substance. This was the worst experience I've ever had with a doctor. Now I'm probably not going to be able to to go school tomorrow because of her, because I can't physically get out of bed in the morning when my B-12 is low. Thanks a lot. I see so many poor reviews for this location and I wonder if any yelpers reported their experience to a medical review board. I intend to. I have never been to this particular Patient First. I have always had great service at Greenspring Station, though. I took my pregnant wife to the Towson location on York Road at 9:30 pm (they close at ten) and the parking lot and waiting room were empty. We waited an hour before a physician's assistant gave us less than four minutes of her time (she seemed unable to respond to questions and unable to listen to us), gave an incorrect diagnosis and prescription, and then billed our insurance company $2,500 (we pay $450). We went to a real doctor the next day, and it was correctly diagnosed. I am glad the medicine Patient First incorrectly prescribed didn't hurt my wife or unborn baby, but I am sickened by their predetary nature. I intend to dispute the charges, and file a more formal complaint. It is my hope that this place gets shut down. read more

My son went in with bed bug bites from a the Baltimore Marriott-Camden Yards. He brought an infestation back home to our house. This Patient's First "diagnosed" him with scabies. They did not do the proper testing (they "don't do that test here") ...just looked at a few bites. Meanwhile he has bed bugs (confirmed) and has since potentially spread them! It costs well over $1000 in exterminator fees to go through the harrowing process of getting rid of them. No credit for their misdiagnosis or $100 cream. They need to do a better job of diagnosing. read more

My daughter, a student at the university, went here 3 times last year. Our insurance declined it and we never got an invoice, phone call or even a "hey you owe us money from previous visits" at the 2nd and 3rd visit. The first we knew was when collection notices arrived, at which point there were interest charges and collection fees. Not good business practices!!! read more

Absolute incompetence at this place. Took my kids in for what should have been easy diagnosis and they got them both wrong. Second one was more severe, as they completely missed a lung infection. I would need to be in a true medical emergency and literally next to this place to use their services again. And even with that I'd probably take my chances on driving the extra 3 miles to St Joes or GBMC. Don't waste your time or money here. read more

Don't bother coming if you are a chronic illness person. I had to tell this "nurse" three times I have chronic illnesses and it causes some of my issues. Hello, listen to your patient. This location used to be the last good one, I'll go to the ER next time who can handle chronic illnesses. read more

I came here because it was convenient and thought it would be quick. The waiting time was average but the receptionist was extremely rude to my mom when we had an issue with the insurance card (I'm an out of state college student). When I was finally called back they wanted me to have an X-ray and blood work done neither of which is covered by my insurance and wasn't necessary. When I refused both the X-ray and blood work technicians rolled their eyes and told me they would tell the doctor. The doctor I saw though was actually really great and she checked me out and got me out of there quickly with multiple prescriptions. I don't know if this would be my number one choice again but wouldn't mind going back if need be read more

I have been to two other Baltimore area Patient Firsts prior. The Towson one however I never been to this location but the staff was great and kind! The physician tried alternate ways to help me and not just automatically giving me a prescription and sending me out the door, tried other ways to get well first, and being someone who works in health care I can really appreciate that. read more

The doctor (Dr. Larry Wilson, NPI#1629062211) that saw me today was appallingly inappropriate. He not only invaded my personal space for the entirety of the visit, but touched me inappropriately multiple times. When he came to drop off my discharge paperwork, he cornered me in the room so that I was unable to leave, and proceeded to hit on me and comment on my appearance in an inappropriate and not at all medically relevant way. Unless you are a fan of sexual harassment from old men, I would recommend going to literally any other urgent care in the area. read more

Had some issues with the insurance billing on our part, called Patient First and spoke to Kelly in billing and she was wonderful. She got our problem solved and was very pleasant. Glad my daughter has a great place to go when she is away at college. read more

My experience with patient first was awful to say the least, mind you in this experience I am 11 in this story and it is a school night, I had strep multiple times this year already so we recognized the symptoms which I happened to have that night so we go to patient first and it's about 9 pm when we get there, they take us in a few minutes later to fill out information then send us back to wait, at about 930 they take us to get the actual test which is fine and then send us back, but we don't get a room until about 10:30 mind you I am getting very tired at this point and I'm also sick, so we are waiting for what feel like forever, the doctor doesn't see us until 12:45 am, I am about to fall asleep at this point and he finally writes my prescription up which takes forever itself, then of course the Walgreens near us took another 30 minutes so I got home around 1:30 am. Horrible experience, never going again. read more

After having a problem getting an appointment with Kaiser Permanente for an eye injury that left me with a seriously bloody eye, I decided I couldn't wait and went to Patient First. After a short wait I was seen and it was decided I needed to be seen by an opthamologist. The doctor who examined me made the appointment for me to see Dr. Katzen at Katzen Eye, a short distance from the Patient First office. Within minutes of leaving the Patient First office I was being examined by Dr. Katzen. It doesn't get any better than this. read more

Don't go to this location!! My coworker and I were both informed that they provide a particular dermatological test over the phone. We would need the results to provide to our employer ASAP, so I drove here to receive the test. I made it clear to the receptionist that I would need the test but not any prescriptions. She provided me information regarding how to access my "lab results" online and sent me back to the doctor. After waiting an hour, the doctor walked in, and asked if I would be filling the prescription at Patient First or elsewhere. I explained again that I would not need the prescription but just the test result to present to my employer. The doctor writes me a prescription and then tells me that they don't actually do the test there. I would have never taken the appointment if I had known initially! Complete waste of time AND they billed my insurance for the visit! read more

This place is actual hell with florescent lighting. Every single member of the staff was been rude from start to finish. Techs, Nurses, Physicians = all rude and dismissive. Waited for about 2 hours and could see staff members basically gossiping and standing around. There was actually a tech eating a sandwich while talking to another staff member about another patients personal information that I should not have heard. Overall horrible experience. Super long wait with no customer service. Only came here because there were literally no other options. I won't be coming back.

Called in advance to question having a specimen I had just collected tested through them. I had just been to their Timonium location two days before and gotten a "clean bill of health" since they couldn't find anything wrong. Got there in less than five minutes and was told to have a seat to wait for check in. Tech who eventually took bp, etc. said they don't do specimen testing. Had to wait for them to check with staff again. Finally got the go ahead and was placed in an exam room to wait, once again, for a Dr. Dr. arrived and went through all the regular exam prior to accepting specimen from me which by then had evaporated and thickened due to exposure to the air. It had reduced to over half its size and changed in consistency so it didn't even want to transfer to the specimen bottle. Ended up paying a Urgent Care copay and having my insurance company billed for an Urgent Care visit just to submit a specimen for testing that may have degraded too far to even be tested due to adherence to their office procedure of doing everything else prior to transferring the specimen to a specimen bottle. Would I recommend them? Absolutely not. Am I currently stuck with them? Yes. . . . but only for any future specimen testing prior to my first visit that is scheduled with the Urologist in two weeks. read more

I have been to many of these type of urgent care centers in the area and this one is by-far the best - the cleanliness, the staff, the one-on-one attention, and the follow up from the nurses and physicians all exceeded my expectations. After seeing me on my first visit, I was prescribed antibiotics, which ended up not working. So, I returned and was given more tests and an additional prescription for stronger meds. The doctor was attentive and caring, very thorough and helpful. He prescribed me a sonogram, which I didn't get because of the holiday, until the nurse called me to follow up and assure I had gone to get the sonogram. She said the Dr. wanted to be sure I would get it (great follow up!). Once I did, the nurse called me a few hours later with my results. Excellent care and follow up at this location. I will definitely recommend it and will return in the future! read more

If I could it would be a zero star. Service is slow slow slow. Better off going to emergency room. Watched as blood drawn , guy had to stick person 5 times. Left a large bruise on arm that lasted for 2 weeks. Not a friendly staff at all. Please don't waste your time going there. When it comes to your body go to the best, not the worst. Came in because I thought I had a UTI. After waiting an hour I was seen by David Dell- Rosario. He was the worst. When I asked him do I have an infection he said and I quote" am treating the patient not the symptom. I looked around the room like are you taking to me? I left with antibiotic, took them but still was unsure if if I had an infection or not. 28 days later I started experiencing pelvic pressure I went to my GYN. turns out I have 8 fibroid and will probably need surgery. Bottom line I've lost my trust in Patient first. I'll have to try Life bridge Urgent care next time. read more

The staff are always very polite and friendly, as are the doctors and nurses. The wait times usually aren't bad if you go early in the morning or late at night. Highly recommend for non-emergency medical needs! read more
