I LOVE Patina! I wanted to buy out the whole place and to decorate my house with everything in this store. They have very cute jewelry too and a lot to choose from! The prices are surprisingly good as well. One of my favorite pairs of earrings is from here. You can easily spend a lot of time and money here. Lazy Santa Claus? Yup, one stop Christmas shopping From quite crude to prude Stopped in here after having dinner at George & The Dragon next-door. For some reason, I always thought it was just a store for women. While they do have a large selection of purses and jewelry, it offers way more. I had no idea walking in that I would check four people off of my Christmas shopping list. It is somewhat like an Urban Outfitters, but with much less emphasis on clothing. Lots of gag gifts and other items that will make you chuckle. Heavy on the dick and fart jokes. Saw a somewhat thick book entitled something like "What Every Man Thinks About When He Isn't Thinking About Sex". Thought to myself, hmmmm that looks interesting. Picked it up, started flipping through the pages and,,,,,,,,,blank page, blank page, blank page. You get the idea. While I was tempted to go with some of the gag gifts, I played it safe. Got some whiskey glasses and stones, a metered wine glass (little bit of a gag), a book of short biographies, a bath and body set and a book on grilling. Seriously the cutest gift shop ever. Every single thing they have here I want to buy for myself and every one of my friends and family. They have something for everyone, even the little ones and it is all unique items you don't see anywhere else. Candles, blankets, jewelry, clothes, bath products (lotions, scrubs, etc.), wall decor, baby clothes, kitchen items, and many more things that you should check out! The only reason I dock a star off is that they can be very pricey. $30 for a candle seems slightly above what I want to pay for something I'm going to burn! read more

Patina is great, it's really one of those stores you can just walk around for a long time looking at all the different quirky items. So many unique gift ideas like jewelry, toys for kids, home decor, kitchen stuff, soaps, books, I mean the list goes on and on. The nice thing is prices vary so you can find something in your range regardless of what you are willing to spend. I rarely shop here for myself but no matter what the occasion I can almost always find something for whoever I'm shopping for. One great experience that really stands out is a recent visit to buy some Christmas presents. I brought a broken bracelet that I purchased for a gift almost 4 months prior, I didn't have a receipt only the broken pieces. They could identify it was an item from the store and replaced it with a brand new one, no questions asked! WOW. As I walked in, I was met with the cutest store ever! I actually only came here because I was a few minutes early to a lunch date, but I'm SO glad I did! I loved the entire store, so much decor and other random stuff that I don't need but will end up buying anyways. Lots of inspiration for room decorating, and SUCCULENTS! While I love to wander through the store, browsing the website combined with curbside pickup made it so easy to stay safe through Covid. I went there with my mother. We were planning on purchasing multiple necklaces but ended up buying one thing due to a rude sales associate. We asked to try on necklaces from the case and she would not leave us alone. She stood within two feet of us breathing down our necks and acting as though we were going to steal because we were taking our time. We left the counter hoping another sales associate would take her place and we heard her gossiping about us to another employee. Ridiculous!!!! My sister knows me well, so when she said we had to check this place out on my next trip north, I knew to get excited. You can tell before you even enter that Patina is full to busting with cute, chic, adorable, and clever swag: beautiful cards, unique jewelry, books, lotions, tableware, picture frames, purses, and a million other items. Shopping was like a treasure hunt; I combed the shelves slowly in order to take in every last piece. Now, stores like this can raise a red flag as sometimes cute = unrealistic pricing. Not here! The items I craved and acquired at Patina all retailed for a reasonable amount of green. Another area in which Patina excels: fun gifts for coworkers. I don't know about you, but my office is big on birthdays. The related gifts tend to be office-supply-related. Now, how many cutesy pads of post-it notes does someone really need, right? So, let's get right down to it - Patina is full of overpriced junk. I know I've used the word "rules" to describe Patina in the past but, after my trip here last weekend, I've seriously had to rethink my opinion. I've decided that Patina is the upper middle class/upper class person's dollar store. Sure, you can find some nice things occasionally, but you'll also find $10 magnets, $8 travel size body lotion and $30 canvas tote bags. Even things you would think are practical - like the kitchen supplies - are totally worthless when you really think about it. Just because a spatula is shaped like a fried egg and is relabeled "EGG FLIPPER!" does not make it worth $15. Basically, these are the filler gifts you get to complete a gift bag or it's where you go when you want to give the impression you care to someone you really don't give a crap about (you put anything in a purple Patina box and you instantly look like the most thoughtful person ever because the more money you spent = the more you care, duh.) Or, like me, you only go there after the holidays because 50% off means it's more in my price range. Am I being mean? Probably. It can't help that I've been treated like garbage every single time I've been in this store (the employees at the Uptown location are much nicer, trust me.) This past weekend I stood at the cash register with a shopping basket and watched while the 3 employees behind the counter looked at me and then turned their backs to continue talking. Finally one of them helped me and asked if I needed any gift boxes. I said no, she asked me again, I said no (I mentally dared her to ask me a third time) and then, I shit you not, she looked at my boyfriend and said, "Ok, well, WHATEVER," sighed really loudly and then ROLLED HER EYES AT ME. Ok, maybe not the rudest thing in the history of the world but, seriously? I wanted to point out the fact she's working behind a counter for a dollar or two above minimum wage and that I'm paying her bills but, I didn't. I'm not an asshole. Promise. Patina is great because it is smart. It's a gift store that doesn't fall into the trap of having lots of ubiquitous, stupid, cutesy throw-away items. Stop filling the landfills, please! I have found the quality of most of the items to be quite good at Patina. For gifts it is really outstanding. I did ALL of my holiday shopping here one year and it felt great to walk out and be done! Their strength is in their merchandising. They arrange items in really engaging ways, either by topic (artsy religious memorabilia), product (intriguing garden adornments), or some odd theme they devised. I love that. Then I can find wallet ideas in 4 different place. Fun! I like Patina for jewelry a lot. I got a birthday gift bracelet for someone here and she hasn't taken it off since I gave it to her! Bath items, green items, unique gifts for the boss, little surprises for friends, and the best office accessories are here. When I go shopping for my job (yes, shopping is one of my job requirements), Patina is always on my list, and it never disappoints. I always walk out with bags full of cool women's office and organization stuff. But they also carry a good amount of quality stuff that you never knew you needed like Jesus packaging tape and fun things for the kitchen and baby. My favorite find was a Thomas Paul memo mousepad that I bought last summer. I ended up buying a few extra to give as gifts. My friends loved them and, in turn, bought them as gifts as well. Maybe more importantly, this is a great place for guys to go to for that last minute gift for mom/wife/girlfriend/sister. In true guy fashion, my husband and brother always put off their Christmas shopping until Christmas Eve, and this is where they come sans list or clue and leave with great gifts (and cards) for all their special girls. read more

Whooooooooo has owls? Apparently Patina has owls to spare. Are owls in? Are they migrating? Have they invaded? Other than owls they have a cute selection of gifty things. Books, knick knacks, signs with a wide variety of short and very long quotes on them. The best one of course was "I love you more than bacon". They have a lot of kid gifts - mostly for younger kids. They also have a smattering of kids clothes. They also have some kitcheny things. Most small gimicky cutesy things. If you need a olive wood avocado spoon - this is your place. What a cool, unique and fun little shop. I don't know what I can say that everyone else hasn't, but anytime I'm in the cities I make it a point to stop here. I absolutely love Patina! I can't believe I had never been before today, as I've been hearing about it for ages. Surprisingly, the prices are very fair--not super expensive like I expected from a specialty store such as this. They have a little bit of everything: Home decor, greeting cards, kitchen supplies, jewelry, funny books, seasonal decorations, reusable grocery bags, etc. I was in here today & found a "Disappearing Civil Liberties" mug, with the Bill of Rights printed on it. When a hot beverage is poured into it, (as the box says) "watch the painstaking work of the founding fathers vanish before your eyes and then reappear after drinking up or cooling down--Brought to you by the Patriot Act." I had to buy it for my brother's upcoming birthday, and he will piss his pants when he sees it! I can't wait. (For those of you turned off by me at this point in my review, Patina also offers a McCain action figure.) In addition to the mug, I bought some candles, autumn decor, and a "Porn for Women" book--which showcases pictures of sexy men doing household chores, accompanied by phrases like, "Have another piece of cake, I don't like you looking so thin" and "Ooh, look, the NFL playoffs are today. I bet we'll have no trouble parking at the crafts fair!" The clerks are also friendly & helpful. I'm glad this place is only 8 blocks from my house because I will be back often! read more

I can spend a good hour in here before deciding on a gift, yet EVERY TIME I end up buying a Volcano candle... no joke. The smell of this particular candle is indescribable. So effing good. I have to agree with Jaymi M., this store is full of overpriced junk. I will add that it is also full of rude salespeople. Took my daughter there to return an ugly scarf (Xmas gift). She had the receipt and it was new in the box. The sales clerk "offered" us 50% of the price paid for the gift in store credit. Seriously? How do you stay in business? We couldn't find anything that a teenager would like in that store for $13, so we took the ugly scarf and left--donated it to charity. Some advice to all of you who love to shop there so you don't have to come up with a gift idea on your own---it's the thought that counts--come up with something that shows you actually know the person. If you can't--then consider shopping elsewhere, because if you are off base your recipient won't be happy with the return policy. read more
