I purchased tickets at the concession stand ahead of time so that we are guaranteed seats. Unfortunately, the only seats left were closer to the front. Galaxy Cinemas was inside the Rutherford Mall. The theater lobby is small and dated and so dim... and this was in the middle of the afternoon. We left to check out the mall but it was already closed except for one store called London Drugs where we purchased some snacks. When it came almost time for the movie we got popcorn and a drink at the concession stand. Inside was nice with comfortable reclining seats. The theater was clean. We were on Row B which I thought would be too close to the screen but it wasn't too bad. We watched The Equalizer 3 with Denzel Washington. Review #3164

Admission was $22.22 for the both of them (that's ok) but at the concession they ordered 1 large popcorn and 1 kids pack - for a total of $26.59!!! The girl asked it they wanted butter - didn't tell them it was extra and was $3 extra on the large and extra on the kids popcorn and didn't give them a different option. So almost $50 for 1 young adult and 1 child to see a movie on cheap Tuesday!!!!!! I tried to call to complain but of course there are no options to talk to anyone. Ridiculous. Will not be going back any time soon!

Clearly the staff at the theatre are not passing concerns of customers to the management…read more 2x now i have been there and when i use the disabled mens washroom there is a ceramic tile broken on the wall i have reported it 2x and i know for a fact it went ignored by staff who are more concerned about their social status than customers who relay an issue to them for management thats my reason for a low rating on this theatre i will go again and i know i will still see the same ceramic tile broken again in the same place this time i will take a picture of it and send it to head office instead

Not on one visit, but every visit. It is shameful, embarrassing, a rip-off, a punch in the face to all that pay to go there, and a crime against the movie industry. If there was any other theatre in the Comox Valley I would not visit here at all, sadly there is not. I urge people to write to guestservices@cineplex.com and ask them to come to the Comox Valley and build a decent theatre. Service: What? The 12 year old kids that work here don't know the about the offers, don't know how to be polite, serve efficiently, look you in the eye, assert any kind of customer service, or generally look presentable. They don't know what showings are 3D or not, and don't always tell you, or hand out glasses even. Price: If this cinema was $2 a ticket, it would be a rip off. So when they charge so much for tickets, and snacks, it's a real slap in the face. Screen: A bed sheet and a projector from Best Buy would look better. The main screen has a hole in it that has not been patched or replaced! C'mon. Sound: Has it's ups and downs, literally. It's as though they gave the volume control to senior couple with different hearing aid settings. Seats: Take a boulder with you - it would be more comfy than whatever you sit on in there. Cleanliness: Kids aren't that clean, so makes sense the cinema isn't. Experience: There isn't one. Every time we go here we vow not to again. But it's the only place in town! Argh. That's why people go there, not because they enjoy the experience of Landmark Cinemas. If other businesses were this bad, in all aspects of their service, they would be out of business. Unfortunetly these clowns are the only business in a large area, and they know it, and just don't care. Going to the movies should be an experience. It should be a joyous night out. It should be a fun event, a great date, a great kids day out, an event, something to talk about for days after. Landmark Cinema is incapable of providing what people deserve for their money, how Hollywood artists deserve their work to be seen, and what can help prevent piracy and ensure that the medium continues for generations. Stay at home, download something instead. Watch paint dry. Pick your nose. Take a walk around the block at dusk. Just don't go here.

Lots of selection for snacks. I was saddened that the theater did not had the newer seats with tilt and comfort options. At least in the theater I was in. I will check with them to see if any do for future visits. More movie times should be available for mornings during the week not just on weekends. Lots of older people would use earlier times if advertised to them.

I was directed to the concession to get different seats, which I did. I was offered two seats, in another row and not side by side. Eventually, the cashier found two seats together that were okay. I wonder what would have happened had the theatre been fully reserved? The cashier advised me that the seats were old and they have no way of knowing which ones are in working order. While waiting for the seat re-assignment process, I noticed the area behind the counter wasn't very clean and decided to cancel my plans to buy popcorn and a pop. Very unappetizing. The movie was good, but I hesitate to return to this theatre. A theatre with broken seats and a dubious approach to facility cleanliness doesn't make for a great entertainment attraction. They should do better.

When I was a youngin' I spent a lot of time going to this theatre. A small, one-screen theatre in…read moreGibsons, it required a whole-night event to get there. Before me and my friends turned 16, it would take us almost an hour to get there by bus, usually resulting in us waiting at least 40 minutes until the movie started. That didn't deter us, however, as even when we got access to cars, we would still go about an hour ahead of the start time to wait in the line to get the best seats (the back row). For movies rated 18A we would latch onto some older people in line and pretend to be their children; such rebels! Now, though, the theatre has really lost its nostalgia. It's almost always near-empty when you go, the popcorn is usually burnt and cold, and the sound system makes a weird hissing sound every 5 seconds or so. For whatever reason, whoever designed the theatre did so with a 'dip' in the seating so that the seats rise to the front of the stage. Not particularly useful for short people. But the lack of customers makes up for that. I have not had to worry about people blocking my view for a few years now. I feel bad being so negative about the cinema, as the owners and staff are all very lovely and accommodating, but c'est la vie. Unfortunately, I recommend making the trek to the Ravens Cry Theatre in Sechelt instead.

My movie partner threw his away. I asked for another bag because I wasn't going to eat it and the staff gratefully gave me fresher popcorn that didn't taste as bad. It seems the staff only pops enough for those waiting for some popcorn, so there was a long lineup of people waiting. This delayed the movie by about 15 minutes. The seat I initially chose was broken, so badly that I was sliding forward off my seat. I asked my partner if his seat was comfortable, to which he replied that it was. I then sat in a different seat and realized my first choice was simply broken. The screen has a large defect, or is filthy, right in the middle. This was quite obvious during the show and it was a regrettable distraction. Lastly, the sound quality was poor. Are the speakers blown? There was a constant hum and hissing sounds when the movie went to silent, or near silent. On the other hand, when there was action on the screen the sound was so loud that it would have been more appropriate had I been wearing ear plugs. Gibsons Cinema was the only theater showing Mad Max Fury Road on the coast during its opening week so I drove from Sechelt to Gibsons for the viewing. The movie was superb but the overall experience was poor. I'd rather take the ferry to Vancouver than visit Gibsons Cinema again.

No ushers around to keep people orderly, no reminders to sit in your reserved seats, barely any seat numbers to even find your seats. This was the second night of the Minecraft movie, a nearly sold out showing of mostly kids and teens and nobody was there to monitor at all right before the movie started. This same lady proceeded to try to steal several other guest's seats so it wasn't just me having my experience soured. When I wrote the theater a detailed account of my experience after they said the manager would get in touch with me they just sent a generic apology letter essentially ignoring me and the entire situation. I don't recommend this place whatsoever and I certainly won't be returning.
