Since I had only been using TurboTax before, I didn't have much experience in working with professional tax advisors and I contacted Yan after reading some reviews on Google/Yelp. The experience of using her for my CPA was completely different compared to the previous one I had. She was very detailed and meticulous in checking each detail of my situation, and also didn't pretend to know everything - if there was an issue that she wasn't clear about, she didn't hesitate to look up the necessary IRS documentation to make sure that we weren't making any mistakes. Even after our meetings in-person going over documents, she would also follow-up and double-check to make sure that I hadn't inadvertently overlooked something (and she did find a bunch of details that I had filled in incorrectly as well through this process!) She was also more interested in making sure that I understood the process and what each document was for, rather than just taking everything into her own hands and just asking me to "rubber-stamp" documents. I really appreciate her spending the effort to help with my tax literacy. I got ghosted! Just like a bunch of others on here. He is VERY difficult to get a response from and…read morehas communications issues. I contacted him to do my 2019 taxes and he responded that it wouldn't be an issue at all (if it was I would have just done them myself via TurboTax)! If he was too busy to do it he should just be open and honest and tell me and that would have been OK. Trust is SUPER important when dealing with personal financials... I had to practically chase Robert down on multiple occasions/channels (via text, cell, AND email....) to find out if he did my taxes and submitted them for me. He assured me that he submitted them for me electronically and would send me a confirmation. This was in early October 2020. I contacted him in late October 2020, no response. I contacted in him in November 2020, no response. I contacted him in December 2020, no response.... you see the pattern here. I followed up with the IRS and found that my taxes were NEVER submitted. Contacted Robert again... no response (are you surprised?). I ended up having to do my taxes myself (via TurboTax) in December 2020. It is now February 2021 and the IRS is still processing mail-in returns due to COVID delays. Basically, due to Robert's lack of communication and lack of accuracy my 2019 tax returns still have yet to be filed by the IRS. Thanks Robert!... Once again, if you were just open and honest from the start I could have had this all taken care of electronically and be done with it. Work on your communication skills, do what you say you will do, and improve your accuracy and then maybe you can keep your clients....

Like many others here, Robert ghosted me…read more I signed to work with him and had a hard time reaching him - couple weeks to get responses over email and he no-showed for video meetings. He sent me preliminary returns filled with errors and then stopped responding to my messages. I still hadn't gotten replies by the filing deadline so I worked with someone else instead, filed late, and paid penalties. I would not work with him again.
