They removed the cover , saw the pump motor worked and checked to see the cartridges in the filter system, I was told they sweep a little. The whole process took 1 1/2!hrs. Need less to say the pool water was terrible and smelled. They said the put some shock in. First, the filtration system was not cleaning at all so I , put in an over amount of shock. It did take the smell away but still was not clean. Had my son recheck both top skimmers and found a plug was left so the water could not flow to the filter. Now after a few weeks I was able to get the cloudiness out of most of the water. Shock, the cleaning jets on the pool wall still had the plugs in them. So total plugs never removed were 6. No wonder I could never get the water clear. I paid a total of $575 because of my in-ground cleaning system , which could not work properly until I removed all the 6 plugs, which should have been done when they opened it. I was totally surprised this morning with a text from the owner of BMA pools. He had just come back from vacation and just read my text to him. He apologized for any of my inconvenience and sent me a refund of $200. We had a small repair job needed in our basement- replacing about 4 feet of water damaged tack strip, carpet padding, and a 12 inch x 12 inch square of carpet. Dixon came out to give me an itemized estimate, which included 7 hours of labor (the bulk of the total cost). I questioned this, given the work we needed done, was it really going to be 7 hours of labor. He said that this was just an estimate and it could be less. I signed and hired him based on this initial estimate and conversation, and paid him the deposit. The technician sent out was very polite and professional, and he did great work. He was here from approx 8am-10am, and then left to get the 12"x12" replacement carpet square, and came back from 5:30-6pm. Things went very south when I received the final invoice, expecting it to be not much more than the deposit since the labor hours were so much less. The invoice was for the remainder of the full amount quoted. When I questioned this with Dixon, I was told that the cost was the cost, as stated in his estimate. When I pushed back about the labor amount charged, and the fact that I had questioned it before signing, he said that he meant the time might be less but not the cost. Dixon was incredibly dishonest and does not honor his itemized estimates. What's the point of itemizing an hourly labor charge if the actual work takes 4 hours less than quoted? Why would I be charged for labor hours that were not provided? He should have told me the cost would be the same as the estimate regardless of the time spent. It's a very deceitful practice.
