She doesn't like loud noises to include electric razors and blow dryers. I have tried to groom them myself but keeping them still is definitely not easy. Finding someone to groom a 50 lb dog is also not easy! I decided to try Ali's at home dog grooming service because it's super convenient (located here in Lorton) and she works one dog at a time, reducing the stress the dogs feel about being in a strange, loud place. I made an appointment for the big dog as a test run. I can't do her myself. It was easy to make an appointment. Drop off was convenient. Ali was super friendly and the dog was super happy. She's a good judge of character. I came back about 2 hours later to a clean and adorable and still happy dog. Brought her home and all agreed that Ali had done a great job. Loved the grooming report I received on the experience, including the attached picture s. Made the appointment for the little dog and had an even better experience. I highly recommend the Paw Wash!

Problem: The company we originally hired had not properly set the cat-feeder so our cat had not eaten for the whole day, and possibly for the three days prior. She's a geriatric cat who needs to eat every six hours. By the time we identified this problem it was late at night on a Friday, the other company had closed (basically 9-5 hours) and could not be reached. Solution: Andrea & Javier. They were the only ones to reach out to me within the 20-30 minutes that some other companies here are on Yelp are apt to respond to (Yelp has this information) AND were able to take on the emergency. I had sent a batch message to pet-sitting companies in the area and within 20 minutes Andrea called me on my cell phone. By this time it was close to midnight. I told her the situation and she was very sympathetic and agreed to go in, fix the feeder and feed the cat that night. They were very communicative during the process. After they fed her, we contracted them for the remainder of our trip. Conclusion: Andrea & Javier really are the best of the best. Their sympathy, availability, & work ethic are impeccable and you want someone like them to take care of your pet while you're away.

I went here about a year ago after carefully considering adopting a dog for the past several…read moremonths. I'd had a dog before and knew what kind of commitment they require in time, patience, and money. I felt it was the right time since my job no longer required me to travel very much. I'd seen Chuck Bell (local NBC news weather personality) highlight HRA and featuring select dogs on his broadcast, so it seemed the logical choice. It was one of best decisions I've ever made. After seeing the dogs looking for homes (I wanted to adopt them all!), I saw Rico. He looked like hell and he was a little older than I was hoping for (5 years old) but he caught my eye. He was picked up as a stray and had no chip or identifying tags. He was undernourished and the lower half of his body was missing a lot of hair. The remaining hair had clumps of a black substance mixed in. It was explained to me that he had a horrible case of fleas when he was found, and the black goo was the tar shampoo that was used to heal him. I played with him for a little while and we hit it off. He came home with me that day. I've had him about a year now and I tell people I didn't rescue him - he rescued me. He has enriched my life and been such a joy to have that I can't imagine what I did before he came along. I'm including photos of him from when I first saw him and what he looks like today. It's amazing what a change love, good food, and grooming can accomplish. He doesn't bark a lot, was already housebroken, and loves everyone he meets (dogs and people). I couldn't have ever hoped for a better companion.

I continuously checked for appointments from 9:30 a.m. until noon, but at no point did I see a single appointment become available. I also called your service to confirm that the appointment date or booking procedure had not changed. I was specifically told that I needed to be on the computer at 9:30 a.m., which I was. Given that I followed the instructions exactly and still could not find even one available appointment over the course of more than two hours, I have serious concerns about how these appointments are being allocated. It makes me wonder whether appointments are being released through another method, reserved in advance, or whether certain patients are being filtered or given priority. I would appreciate a clear and transparent explanation of how appointments are released and how clients are expected to have a fair opportunity to book them. The current process does not appear to be working as described, and I would like to understand why.

We love Kim and our walkers, but more importantly our fur babies love them! I have a high…read moremaintenance Chihuahua and a frisky husky - both boys love getting their midday walks while we are at work. My chihuahua doesn't warm up to many people, and after having a negative experience with Fairfax Pet Care, I was very cautious when finding a new walking service. Kim has built a relationship with both us and our doggos leaving us to feel confident that they are in good hands. Kim and our walkers have taken the time to get to know our babies and give us daily reports (including photos) of their visit. I highly recommend!

Update: 1/8/20 There has been a recent shift with Kim's…read morecompany, and while some of my original review remains accurate, I want to update it to reflect the current state of things. Kim's still provides a wonderful service - the employees seem to actively care about my dog, and I receive daily email reviews of the walks. Recently, however, prices have increased (they are still within normal limits for dog walking in this area, but no longer the great deal they once were.) There has also been a fairly substantial shift in attitude. Kim's is no longer accommodating to changes in schedule, and the warm, friendly tone I'd come to expect in communication with Kim herself has disappeared. I still absolutely trust Kim and her staff to care for my dog, and plan to continue using their service, as my dog truly likes the people who walk him. I am sad to have to update my glowing review, but with the recent changes, they are not what they once were. Original Review: Kim's has been walking my dog for two years now. Their rates are incredibly reasonable. Kim herself is wonderful, and made time to come see me 'off hours' to meet me and my dog - she was also the only dogwalker I could find in the area who was willing to work with an at times aggressive dog (every other company I contacted immediately said 'no, we don't do that.') My dog, who is very shy and scared around new people, took to her immediately, and was loving on her within about ten minutes. At first, she walked him exclusively, since he did so well with her. I was nervous when she asked if she could try him with someone else, but it went very well. I think there are three different people who walk him now, and he's never had an incident with any of them. She is thoughtful and accommodating - I'm a teacher and she is very understanding when I need to reschedule or cancel last minute due to sick days or snow days. The people she hires are high-quality and I feel so comfortable leaving my dog in their care (I've had very negative experiences with boarding other animals with other conpanies before, but I never worry when he's with Kim.) I really can't recommend them enough - they will look after your pet as though s/he is their own, they are professional and responsible, and leaving my dog in Kim's gives me such peace of mind.
