My family and I have been taking our dog to Patton Chapel for 13 years now and they satisfy us every time we come. When you walk in someone will greet you (same day appointments are easy to make). When I went yesterday I checked in on yelp and got a free treat and chew toy for my dog, just for checking in! The clinic is very clean and somehow doesn't smell like animals... I guess they use some type of air freshener that gets rid of the bad animal smell. When I got my dog back from the staff, I weighed him on the huge and free weight machine in the front of the clinic (picture attached). I forgot my dogs leash but that was okay because they had free leashes (picture attached). They also sell dog and cat food. They don't charge a lot for most things but my only negative thing to say about the place is the parking. There is only 10 parking spots and there's not a business next door to park at. So if they have no parking available, you have to wait until someone leaves to get a spot. But overall, I would recommend coming here for all of your animal needs. read more

New to the area and so happy I found this Vet! My very anxious dog Abby was treated with such gentleness from the entire staff. The Vet explained very throughly every test they ran and medication she was given. Everyone was so kind, welcoming, anknowledgeable, and caring. We have 2 dogs and 2 cats that go to this vet. Atmosphere - Clean. Well lit. Staff - Friendly, helpful Experience - Prices are reasonable. They offer boarding also. Our pets love going here and when are big dog was a puppy the vet was very helpful with training. Today we had to put our 17 year old cat down. The staff was very thoughtful. They put us in a room. Came and got Burnie to start an IV. They brought him back and gave us time alone. After a bit the vet came in to administer the medicine. After Burnie passed we left. Do to the emotions they mail a bill rather then make you pay right then. Such a sad day to write this but I can't describe how great they where for us on this horrible day. I took my dog there for grooming this week (01/03/19). The staff was friendly and my dog seemed happy when I picked her up. She looks pretty good and didn't seem traumatized like she usually was when I took her to Petsmart. I can't give 5 stars because they charge for things that no other vet has ever charged me for, that I know of anyway; e.g. biohazard charge (for needle disposal from a boarding vaccine my dog needed before she could stay for grooming), and an exam fee before they would give her the shot even though she had a clean bill of health for all other vaccines just a few months ago. I ended up paying $118 for my 19lb shitzu mix reduce dog to be groomed! The actual grooming charge was only $50 and they did give me a $4 discount but still, it was double the amount I expected to pay. I'll probably still take her there again because of the convenience and because they took good care of her. read more

No way will I ever take any of my dogs to this place again. A couple years ago my five-year-old chi-weenie was bitten by a snake. We live in Hoover so we rushed her here. Patton Chapel AC kept my dog until 5 PM to watch her. Dr Whitworth Released her to me and said she would "be fine". By 9 o'clock that same night, she nearly bled to death at home because she had been bitten by a rattlesnake. Her blood was thinned by the venomous rattler bite and she was bleeding out. The ER for pets on Acton Road saved my dog's life! The people at Patton Chapel AC looked me in the eye and told me that my dog "would be fine" and "did not need antivenin". And then sent me a bill for $250. The first thing they did when we walked in the door at this place (with a dog clearly in distress) was weigh her and take a rectal temperature. Hope AC took over after the ER vet and both saved her life (and leg). My dog had to have the Antivenin to save her life, this place told me "she didn't need antivenin" after several critical hours of observation. Never again! If you have an emergency or especially a snakebite, don't take your pet here. These people had zero sympathy for us and didn't offer an ounce of remorse or even to discount the bill. Additionally we paid over $1100. for a couple vials of antivenin and units of blood bc she was so delayed in getting the life saving antivenin and care she needed. (See scar of snakebite attached) Thank God for the caring folks at The EmergencyVet off of Acton Rd Birmingham and Hope Animal Clinic in Bessemer. My baby is alive and well today. read more

We took our precious pet to Patton Chapel for grooming and have been so pleased! Sharon is the groomer and she did a perfect job. The most impressive thing about the entire experience is how calm and caring each staff member is at the clinic. Sharon made special accommodations for our pet because I did not want to leave her due to prior experiences and her age. Our little dog went to her easily and was calm and happy when she was brought to me, looking beautiful! We will certainly use Sharon and Patton Chapel again.Thank you! read more

When we moved to Birmingham, our vet from Madison recommended Dr. Whitworth since we live near Patton Chapel Animal Clinic and I'm glad he did! The place is always very clean and we've always been able to get a same day appointment. The vet techs and Dr. Whitworth are very patient with our hyper dog and take their time when examining him. Dr. Whitworth is willing to explain what's going on with your animal and always has a few minutes for football chat. Drs. Whitworth and Bird have ben great to our family. We moved here about 3 1/2 years ago and found this clinic pretty much at random. From day one, Dr. Whitworth has made us feel at ease with the care of our animals. He explains the reasoning behind any tests he suggests, but doesn't guilt trip you if you don't do them. The whole staff has always been friendly and helpful, and we have never had a problem getting an appointment. The only drawback is the facility itself. I realize that a place where animals frequent doesn't lend itself to being squeaky clean, but the whole facility just seems kind of run down. could definitely use a renovation, but if it keeps the prices good, I am ok with it just the way it is read more

I moved to the Hoover area recently and went here for my 16 y/o Chihuahua's routine check up after reading good reviews. Now, I know why there are so many good reviews. This place is great, they don't try to nickel and dime you, they offer good financing for more pricey procedures, and Dr. Chase is very easy to relate to and down-to-earth. When I was worried about my dog's ear, he even offered to let me look down his otoscope to see for myself. My little baby, Nacho, will not be seeing anyone else while we're in Birmingham! read more
