This review is a little overdue, but better late than never. My husband and I found Paul on Yelp after the first buyer's agent we'd tried to work with turned out to be kind of a joke. We were looking for a two family house in Somerville, and with Paul's help we were able to get a great place near Davis Square in under two months. He knows the market really well, he takes the time to listen to you about what you're looking for, and if a house sucks he'll won't try to gloss it over. Buying a decent place in Somerville/Cambridge if you aren't paying cash is really tough. Every house we looked at received multiple offers. In my years as a renter, I experienced a number of really sleazy realtors. These people were dishonest and pushy, and would use tactics such as posting a too-good-to-be-true apartment as bait, telling you was rented 'just 5 minutes ago!' when you call, and then instead try to show you a number of really crappy places that you have no interest in. And then 3 days later, you notice the 'bait' listing is back up! So when it came time to buy our first home, we were a bit wary of the whole profession, and we did not take the task of choosing a realtor lightly. It was very important to us to have somebody we trusted, and who we felt would take us seriously, even though we were young and inexperienced in the house-buying process. We spent months going to dozens of open houses, as much to meet the realtors as to see the houses, but didn't feel like we clicked with anyone. Many were too aggressive for our taste, others ignored us. Then, I found c.s.'s yelp review, and it described exactly the realtor we were looking for. After a quick meeting, we knew it was going to work out. I would agree with everything written in c.s.'s and the other reviews. Paul gave great advice, was honest and efficient, professional and experienced, had a very pleasant personality, and was in-tune to the younger generation of home-buyers. The whole thing went very quickly (one advantage of having gone to so many open houses on our own), and we were very happy with every part of the process. Paul was assigned as my listing agent for a property I rented for this upcoming term. In addition to taking days to respond to emails, texts, calls, etc. he also lacked common courtesy and professionalism. There has been more than one instance where myself and my broker have been frustrated with Paul's negligence to respond when there was a question or issue. For example, I met Paul at his convenience to deliver my first/ last months rent and in return he told me he would have the keys ready for me that following week, both confirmed in email and in person. When I arrived at the property where I was told a lockbox would have my keys, there was no lockbox and no keys to be found. This wasn't the first instance where communication was nonexistent, but it certainly was the last straw. read more

I can't recommend "Keller Williams" exactly, but I will whole-heartedly recommend Paul Campano, at least from my point of view as a buyer's agent. The guy is amazing, for several reasons- helping to understand value, and insight into homes, communication, access, and general personality. This will probably seem so glowing that you would think I'm not picky, but if you check out my other reviews, I don't give 5 stars easily. I just feel like good work should be rewarded, it's hard to find. Value/insight- This description is long, but it's the most important thing a realtor can help with, if you can trust them. We can all lookup properties at almost the same time online, but real knowledge of an area and home value is tough even with zillow at your fingertips, and it's tough to know what to look for when you are looking at houses. My last agent would pressure to make an offer for a house that was presumably new to the market but I later found had been on the market for almost a year as of a couple months before at a lower price, def. overpriced. But even with the several realtors before would not point out to me so many little things Paul noticed I would never have thought of. He'll look at the basement and notice what kind of fittings they used for the plumbing and what kind of reinforcements they might have and the foundation type. He'll point out negatives I would not have thought of along with the positives. For instance, one place I was seriously considering, he pointed out that the spiral staircase could be a real downside in moving furniture, may even require a crane, which I didn't fully consider before. As far as positives, he has imagination to see the potential for a fixer-upper and what relatively easy/cheap fixes could be done. Communication- He understands that this generation (esp grad student) doesn't want phone calls at 9am on a Saturday. My previous realtor would not use emails and would call several times in mornings or while I was busy, so it was difficult to get a hold of him. Paul will text or respond to quick texts promptly, so you don't necessarily have to have a phone call about a quick question. He will email and respond to emails quickly at different times of the day. Access- Paul will go out of his way to figure out the quickest way to get to see a place, and sometimes has contacts with owners that have not yet listed. Obviously, the existence of realtors is largely to help a person organize access, but Paul will exceed expectations generally. Also, he hasn't changed as he has gotten busier. We have been on probably 5 trips to see properties over about a month and he hasn't gotten pushy. Personality- he's easy to get along with, calm, a native of the area and will make interesting recommendations like for good restaurants. I am younger and female and was brushed off by other realtors ("go ask your dad about this" when my mom and I will mainly be handling the deal), so I was impressed that he takes buyers seriously. Fyi I am in the 300-450K price range. So, I will update when I buy a place with him. One of the first things we did was to look at the paperwork for offers and deal structuring and what kinds of things the city expects to close on a home, and go through questions there, which I was impressed with. He has described for me how he deal structures, sometimes appealing to the particular seller's position, etc, and it sounds good, and based on performance so far, do not expect any surprises. read more
