It was wonderful to come back to a place where I knew the care was excellent, the people were efficient, pleasant, competent, and caring. I recently broke a crown and the earliest available appointment to replace it was with Dr. Jenkins' associate, Dr. Lawrence. I went with it, reasoning that if he was confident enough of Dr. Lawrence's skill, then that was a good enough endorsement for me. Today Dr. Lawrence replaced my crown and it is my highest praise to say that I am just as happy to see him as I am Dr. Jenkins. The work was excellent and pain-free, he explained every step of the way, and I believe that tooth is better served than it was even before the previous crown broke. I was also fitted with a custom mouthguard today, as my habitual nighttime grinding and clenching are probably what is breaking my crowns. Dr. Jenkins and Dr. Lawrence are excellent dentists in every category, including preventative steps to keep you from having more dental issues down the road. I have had a great deal of dental restoration done in my life - far more than the average for various reasons - and I can truthfully say I've never felt in better hands than I do now with Jenkins Dental. Avoid this place! Dr. Neil took it upon himself to shave down my upper right molars without my…read moreconsent, claiming it would help my teeth "glide better." As a result, my night guard now pinches my gums on the left side, causing me severe pain and sleepless nights. To make matters worse, the $500 night guard now needs to be remade because of the adjustments. **Full Story:** I began seeing Dr. Neil after moving to the area and experiencing TMJ issues, including teeth grinding and flare-ups. He suggested an occlusal adjustment (shaving parts of my teeth to prevent them from grinding together) and referred me to Dr. Richards for a consultation. Dr. Richards charged me $650 out of pocket just for a visit, only to recommend treatments totaling around $4,600. She was very pushy and guilt-tripped me into agreeing, but I researched her suggestions and found that they were most likely ineffective and could even worsen my TMJ. She also advised against the occlusal adjustment due to the potential risks. During these appointments, Dr. Neil started shaving down my UPPER right molars (when the filling that needed to be shaved down was on the BOTTOM right side) without asking for consent or explaining in detail why he was doing this before placing the tools in my mouth. As he was already working on my teeth, he explained that this would help my teeth "slide better" and reduce pain from the filling. I felt unable to stop him while my mouth was open and he was working with tools. Now, much of my upper right molars are gone. As a result, my night guard no longer fits properly, severely pinching my gums and teeth on the left side. I wake up in intense pain, unable to sleep. If I don't wear the night guard, I risk damaging my teeth. **In Summary:** Throughout my time here, I've had multiple billing issues, been charged for things I was only told about mid treatment or treatments that did not happen. While Dr. Neil is personable and accommodating with last-minute appointments, I've ended up in worse shape than when I started. Ultimately, I trusted him as a professional, but that trust led to more harm than good. It's probably my fault for continuing to return, but I believed he had my best interests in mind and maybe he truly did.

Also had to PRE-PAY for the procedure and per our insurance company we were overcharged almost $400.00! They are also refusing to fill out the FMLA and Disability insurance claim forms so as to recoup some of the lost wages for the day. I am in the process of finding out if there is any legal ramifications for this practice of not recognizing the Ct. State and Federal FMLA laws and our Union contract for disability insurance. If your Dentist refers this surgeon for any procedures, I HIGHLY recommend to see someone else!

Note that on my Yelp page, the one-star review of Amanda M from 12/23/2019 is not reviewing Bolton Lake Dental. Instead, she is another reviewing another nearby practice, and ends that by saying the Bolton Lake Dental "is right down the road," is staffed by . Great people" and is "safe and clean." So Amanda's review on the other practice was misplaced and, it seems, probably would have been five stars to Bolton Lake. Also note that all 15 reviews on Google, are five stars. Reviews on other sites are similarly excellent. I suspect the Dr. Ilies took over the practice from another dentist, who is the one getting panned on the old reviews on Yelp.
