Rejoinder - Paul Davis of North Florida Paul Davis of North Florida continues to evade responsibility through denial and misdirection, despite overwhelming evidence of misconduct. If they maintain that they did not commit insurance fraud as i rightfully asserted, they must produce the signed Certificate of Completion (for the mitigation scope) they claim to have. I never signed such a document, and the assigned adjuster, Teri McGowan, confirmed she did not verify or approve the project's completion. The burden of proof lies with Paul Davis--not with the homeowner. I provided extensive, time-stamped photo and video evidence clearly showing that significant portions of the home were never cleaned or restored. Their own estimator, Randall Minor, acknowledged these deficiencies and confirmed that unused scope items would be removed and refunded to the insurer. I categorically reject the claim of any outstanding balance. In contrast, Paul Davis owes me for stolen insurance funds and damaged property. For the last year, Donna and Josh with Paul Davidson (2111 N Liberty St) have been harassing me to pay over $1500.00 for a $200.00 job. From the beginning, this company used my inexperience as a new home owner to their advantage. With the approval of my previous insurance company, they scheduled multiple, unnecessary mitigations just to confirm that I had a cracked skylight, which needed to be replaced. While taking advantage of me, they proceeded to send two teams for a one or two man job. They used unprofessional workers, which did not speak English and were using profanity and vulgar conversation the entire time. (I speak Spanish and spoke with one of the guys from South America. I specifically asked him to tone it down and advised I understood everything being said.) Next visit, they sent a Mitigator to confirm a SECOND time that there was no mold. At no time was I advised how much money any of these services would cost. The consensus between my insurance company and Paul Davis was that my deductible should cover the tarp and fixing the skylight. But it didn't. My claim was denied on a technicality and I was billed over $1500.00 for a used plastic tarp and 5 dollar bags of playground sand. Donna has been kind enough to communicate how I've been strong armed and out maneuvered often and with extreme consistency. She truly is good communicator. They called me to make an appointment convenient to me, then actually showed up at the agreed upon time. They explained to me exactly what would be done, along with the moisture tests they would perform through the process. Paul Davis Restoration didn't confidently do the job to remove and install 400 Sq ft room floor with vinyl plank (lvp) and baseboard. They were referred by the insurance company and I paid the deductible. Their project managers are unknowledgeable, unskilled, and didn't show up as scheduled. They gave many excuses delaying the process. Also, they are very expensive compared to other contractors. I recently sold my home that was restored after a fire. The amount of short cuts, pluming issues and overall terrible craftsmanship uncovered were more than concerning. Proceed with caution. The new owners are still uncovering issues. Joshua Hackney, Adam Hicks, and all team members went above and beyond in their efforts to make the first part of our cleanup and recovery seamless. Our house fire was a devastating event and the house was a total loss. The effect it on had me and my family was extreely emotional because of the loss of so many memories and family heirlooms. Honestly from day one Joshua was onsite or in communication with me in attempting to make a bad situation better and it worked. The project manager was the best thing about the whole project. The subs could speak no english and we had to manage the job as their supervisor came out one day. The subs were not bad and did a good job laying the floor HOWEVER The biggest challenge is that they are billing for things that were not done. Do they think I'm stupid. I was here the whole time and know what was done. No doors were detached, no window draperies were detached, no walls were painted and they have sent an itemized bill for services that were not rendered. I will gladly pay for what they did - but I am holding the insurance money from them until we can come to an agreement on what was and what was not done. At this point, I do not trust their integrity. Again the project manager did the best job he could do with what was handed him - and now he gets to deal with the billing end of this mess. On 10/2022 the Paul Davis Restoration Company was sent by our homes insurance company for level 3 water damage. After demolition my husband requested a quote from the repair side of Paul Davis. My husband received a quote with one tech and his manager. After an employee turnover he was stated that quote was not valid and they have no records of that. However, my husband has the paperwork along with emails from our insurance company with the information. Since 10/2022 we have been going back and forth with Paul Davis for completion of our home. Our homes floor titles are particularly torn apart from an attempt to pull the water damage titles up. Paul Davis has multiple quotes from our insurance approving fixtures on the cabinets, countertops, floors, etc yet no one has contacted my husband or myself. However, the management, field staff are unresponsive, unprofessional, disorganized, and unconstructive. In my opinion using Paul Davis for anything leads to a headache, unnecessary time and energy, and financial risk. Not to mention after speaking with a colleague who happens to be a doctor, and has previous experience with Paul Davis. She stated Paul Davis are crooks. Paul Davis please submit itemized receipt of everything that has been done? Please remember the itemized receipt should be identical to the itemized receipt my husband has from our home insurance company. Not the information given to him verbally about some fees will be delegated to other fees that required more expenses than another expense. Just like one of the other reviews we were told Paul Davis could not take their home repair We were informed Paul Davis decided not to continue the repairs on our home. Abruptly, after they came and pulled up our title throughout our house. We should not be charged on the itemized receipt for the title if the pulling up of the title was not completed. Along, with not including transfer of pack up items. No work was completed to even have the items transferred. Water damage was all throughout the floor not just in two spots of the title. The gentleman who was speaking with husband was Doug;however, he must of been told not to respond to my husband since he never responded back to my husbands text. At the end of the month in January we had a refrigerator line that leaked and caused major water damage to our floors and home. I called Paul Davis at the recommendation of our insurance company Allstate. At first they came out to remediate and mitigate any damage but after the first few days the project was at a standstill. We went through many project managers and at that time I probably would have given them a one-star rating. But in the process they hired a new general manager Jodi, who reassigned our project to a new project manager named Michael. After 6 months of basically nothing getting done on our house she started things immediately and within a week of Michael coming to our home and seeing what needed to be done everything was completed Beyond any expectation I could ever have. I want people to know that during the process I was ready to hire another company. I was frustrated nothing was getting done they kept sending new people; but with the new management everything changed within one week we had new floors, baseboards, sheetrock,and everything painted. They hired an excellent Floor Company carpet man and Shelly helped us pick out the perfect floor. It was in stock fortunately Michael the new project manager came by to look at everything he was so knowledgeable about the construction about what needed to be done and his attention to detail was remarkable. I finally had someone that knew what he was doing and not only that he also cared about doing it correctly. I was so stressed before Jodi came and assigned Michael to our home I felt like I was the project manager and I kept having to tell everyone what to do and how to do it. But as soon as Michael was assigned to our home he said it would be done by Friday at the end of the week I really didn't believe him and my goodness it was done by Thursday and it wasn't just done quickly it was done well beyond my expectation absolutely perfectly. He had to match the stain of our cabinets to the kickboard on the bottom and he was able to do that probably because of the experience he has had in carpentry work. Everything he said he would do he did and the time projections he was right on. If you have used Paul Davis before and were not happy with their work because they were not delivering what they promised to do in a timely fashion , I would recommend trying them again. Itis a completely different business with Jodi there and especially with Michael the project manager who cares about what he's doing and the people who is doing it for. I am so glad now I stayed the course and did not switch to a different company. We could not be happier with the outcome and I am so grateful to Jodi for reassigning the case to Michael. He saved the day and finally gave us our home back even better than it was before. I also appreciate the women in the office who gave me encouragement along the way Angela and Melba they saw my frustration and they were the ones that recommended I speak to the general manager. They were the only ones that were with me from the beginning to the end and I am grateful to them for always answering my phone calls and returning them promptly after looking into any issues I might have. They too were one of the reasons I did not change companies. I would definitely use them again with the new management and new team she is creating and I hope other people try them as well and if they had any kind of a bad experience before know that it's not the same company anymore it's definitely cleaned house and put in finally some competent professional people who will get the job done to the customer's satisfaction. The first thing that irritated me was that they were hired to do mitigation and repair for water damage. For some reason they closed out the mitigation claim and started all over for a new claim for repair causing a delay. This also meant a whole new group of people had to come and take pictures which meant more delay. They also told me my vanity did not need to be replaced BUT PUT A REQUEST THROUGH MY INSURANCE for one anyways. Without asking me first. Then they tried to use this as an excuse as to why the claim was delayed. Some parts are on back order they said. Umm I didn't even order a vanity so how can it be on back order!? As of now I am waiting on the contractor to come and review the damage for a final walkthrough. My appointment was at 9 but they marked it as 10 so now I am waiting an hour for them to come. This is the worst customer service. While the reps are nice I have to call multiple times to get someone to reply and am constantly waiting on a call back. Date of loss was July 4 and I am still waiting. read more

I am so dissatisfied and disappointed with Paul Davis and his quality of work. My interaction with him started a month ago. They were supposed to start the job Monday but I never heard from them. On Tuesday they did not call until I had to call them which they agreed to start Wednesday, but no one showed up again. Finally got a hold of the program manager he said he was sorry, but it would be Thursday. This was already not a good start. They showed up unprepared and without the correct machinery causing them to damage kitchen tiles. I was the workers the container to load my belongings would be here between 1-2pm and instead shows up at 8am completely unscheduled. The garbage truck, flooring delivery also arrived with no schedule given so that someone is available to accept. One delivery was 69 boxes which I had to help the delivery guy unload into my home. The container they sent was so small my mattress didn't even fit and got wet because of their failure to consult with me about size requirements prior to sending pod. The job itself didn't improve my opinion..layers of dust everywhere, loud noise and unsupervised workers. The noise became so loud and disruptive that I contacted the insurance company to request hotel room. I still cannot breathe right from the leftover dust which they didn't even bother to cover before starting the job so walls, doors, purses, clothes, shoes, bathroom were layered in it. I only saw the subcontractor twice and Paul Davis people no more than 3 times in my house in person which was after many unanswered text messages. I dealt with the unsupervised workers most of the time which was unhelpful. They made calls to supervisors after my constant complaints to no avail. Workers that lay the floors showed up before workers pulling the floor had finish showing their inefficiency to schedule and manage crew. There were holes left in the cement and covered with floorboards. I told them flat out no. Eventually the wood would give in. They fixed after I complained. I felt like I was supervising and giving directions like a project manager when that should not have been the case. When it came to the flooring itself it wasn't much better either: the wood that came the first time were incorrect ones. After they laid a few panels I told them it was too dark and not what I picked out. I picked light grey not brown grey. I went back and selected another light grey however, that is not what was put on my floors. I was not told that there will be mixed color panel on each box making the flooring dark again. One panel out of dozens would be light but the rest dark. Needless to say I hate them and now I am stuck with the ugly floors. Since I was dealing with some medical issues I was not there to supervised the workers and now I'm stuck with floors I can't stand looking at. They small container they sent sat empty for over a week and was not picked up until I repeatedly texted the project manager and complained about it being there so long and blocking my garage. They dragged my bedroom dresser on the cement and pull some of the siding. Pictures were taken of wet mattresses; dresser and I sent pics to them of all my items full of dust. There was also rust on my driveway they caused and used some of my personal cleaning products to remove some of it but it's still there. This was a sloppy job at best. No supervision, the workers tried their best but they needed guidance. This went beyond their job description. I let them know how terrible the job went and I was unsatisfied with their level of service to which they came back with an offer of $500 off which was insulting for everything they put me and my family thru. I send the check to the mortgage company but I am not releasing the fund until this job is complete. I have sent almost five messages since they were here but Paul Davis is not being responsive. This has been a total fiasco. They still have not addressed the bathroom work that was listed in their initial quote. I am trying to negotiate in good faith but they are non-responsive. Please do not use Paul Davis!!! I ran into another person that told me she kick them out of their house because the job was so awful. Had the most horrible experience with this company. It has been 2 years and my home has still not been totally restored. Paul Davis was recommended by Tower Hill insurance as a preferred contractor. We had mold from our air conditioning being poorly installed. They packed our house and we moved out for 3and 1/2 months . I had just had knee replacement surgery, and suffer from Severe COPD. When we finally moved back in they scratched the newly refinished hard wood floors so we had to move back out. They broke over 10,000.00 worth of stuff, including a bedroom set, FordRiley print, glimpse of varnish on hard wood floors, crystal decanters... just to name a few things. Please don't use them..the worst experience of my life! They offered me 1000.00 and a bouquet of flowers to solve the issues. I was totally insulted and hurt! Stay away! read more

They came out and did some repairs to our house when we had some damage due to a hurricane. There was a brand new roof put on And a couple of years later it starts leaking again. We recently found out when we had another inspection done that this company had used the old flashing Instead of Using new stuff. We just had a lot of problems with their workers getting into arguments one of them not showing up having the inspector to come out more than once. Then they have refused to come out and fix The problem. But I have heard that from several people that have used them them that if there are any issues they will not come back out and fix it. Our fire was May 11, 2021, and we are still waiting on the house to be completed. It has been one mishap after another. We had 9 delays and now delay number 10 has happened. The sub-contractors that they hire are not very good. The drywallers covered up the sockets, switches and even a whole window. The electrician didn't follow the specs and couldn't find the sockets and switches that were covered and put a bunch of holes in the wall that then needed the drywallers to come back and fix. They have had a bunch of people quit and some get fired. You would think that corporate or hire ups would tell their customer that we would have a new lead. No in fact they forgot about us for 4 months. I finally had to call the secretary to find out what was happening and that is when they told us that our leads were no longer with the company. We are completely dissatisfied with this company. Our damage has been put on hold for over a month with no possibility of anyone doing any work within the near future. Cell phone calls were not returned, messages were left at office and not returned, and the delay with any service is just unacceptable. If we were given the common courtesy of them telling us that they could not take on our damage within a timeframe, we could have moved on however they kept stringing us along. In speaking with mother people in the Jacksonville area, it seems this is a common occurrence. I would highly recommend not to call this company! Stay away from these crooks!!!! We had a water leak on the second floor of our home in November 2014. We contracted Paul Davis Restoration (PDR) to do the emergency response as well as the repairs to the walls, ceilings and flooring. WHAT A NIGHTMARE!!! They hired inferior subcontractors who improperly installed wood floors and took months to complete it! The wood flooring is glued to the concrete slab. They did not completely remove the old flooring and did not properly level the flooring before they installed the new flooring. They used too much glue in areas which seeped through the planks. The flooring buckled in areas and is uneven throughout. They had to hire a different flooring contractor to inject glue into hollow spots in the floor. Because they used too much glue, the brand new flooring had a residue/haze on it. They used multiple types of solvents and Magic Erasers to clean the haze (and stripped the finish off our brand new floors). Furthermore, when they were trying to remove the old flooring from the slab, they used grinders inside our home without even prepping the areas and trying to seal off the rest of the house. We still have white dust everywhere!! After over 4 months of dealing with this, their offer was to tear the flooring out and start all over. There is no way we could put our family through that again (there was no guarantee they would do it properly or in a timely manner if given another chance). PDR did end up firing the incompetent subcontractor (after they stole a key to our house); however, the management and owners were ineffective at completing the project correctly. They have been a NIGHTMARE to deal with for 6 months. We were supposed to receive a 1-year warranty for our floors - they have not responded to our numerous requests for the appropriate paper work. We are astounded by the lack of Project Management or care at this business. The project took almost 6 months to complete. We are unhappy with the poor quality of the installation and the unreasonably long time it took to complete the work. I would not let them work on a dog house!!!!! read more

We had a house fire 7 yrs ago & this is the company that repaired it..We've had nothing but problems the bathtub drain does not close all the way so we must use a plastic stopper over top of it & when you do let up the drain to try to let the water out it takes forever...we have A/C issues since day one it was apparently subcontracted to a crappy ass company who never registered it with Goodman so we have no warranty for parts so we have to pay out of pocket now to replace coils which are leaking. We had leaks in our roof the first year of a brand new roof again sucky subcontractor, we have light switches in the house that don't work anything, the carpet was the poorest quality ever with a cheap ass pad...so I guess Paul Davis pockets a lot of money by hiring the worst subcontractors in the world.. read more

Paul Davis Restoration refused to honor a warranty after repeated efforts to work with the company. In April 2013, PDR completed a roof repair and warrantied the roof until July 2014. In Feb 2014, I noticed water markings on the ceiling indicating a roof leak in the new roof and called PDR in April to investigate the leak. The technicians were able to find and repair one leak and did some sloppy painting of the ceiling which they promised to come back and fix at a later time. After repeated attempts the technicians were unable to find the source of the second larger roof leak. The technician and Mr. Michael Mumford of PDR both indicated to me that it is quite possible that the roof had leaked early on but the heat of the sun has since settled any issues that there may have been. Mr. Mumford indicated that perhaps the best he could do would be to repair the damaged ceiling since they could not find the source of the leak. On June 16, after several attempts to contact Mr. Mumford, I finally reached him to try to schedule the ceiling painting/repair. He then informed me that he would not be honoring his warranty to repair the ceiling. When I told him that his own technicians indicated that there was in fact a roof leak and that he himself had indicated that he would fix the ceiling, Mr. Mumford's response was "I gave you a roof that didn't leak." This contradicted what he himself and his best technicians had said. I believe that Mr. Mumford is just tired of dealing with me as a customer and doesn't want to be bothered any longer. It is inappropriate for a company not to honor a warranty for work and highly unprofessional of PDR to act in this manner. They should be at the very least made to repair the ceilings where the leaks occurred. read more
