We moved into an older home without having it inspected, and after moving in we noticed that the front sprinklers really saturated the part of our basement wall that is exposed above ground, and we also noticed that the porch had a good seam between the cement on the porch to the house, which had us worried about water getting down there as well since the sprinklers hit there as well. Well, these guys came over and did a thorough inspection to look for water damage in the basement rooms, and helped us take care of some minor issues and helped us avoid any major disasters. Four years ago I needed to have my entire bath/tile repaired. Paul Davis was hired. The tile job looked amazing. However, now the grout is falling out and water has gotten behind the tile. Paul Davis has refused to come to my house to look at it. They only have a two year warranty. I had to remove a tile to see what the damage was. Turns out that Paul Davis did not use the correct waterproof drywall to go behind the tile. I have since found black mold. They refuse to guarantee their work. read more

The Paul Restoration in Fort Collins, Colorado is a sub for State Farm. State Farm called them and they came out and did a bid. The guy was onsite for about 20 minutes. They use a program so it looks very thorough, but its just broken down by room and repeats over and over the same tasks. Basically, the software makes it look like they did a lot more work than they did. I appreciate that they did a bid, but their contract is completely one sided and unacceptable to me. Further, when they found out I was going a different direction and doing some work on my own, they demanded a $125,000 deposit which was the to total bid and they wanted it within 48 hours. They expected the job and didn't get it. They then tried to charge me for the estimate to the tune of 1200.00 and are now threatening legal action. I wouldn't use this company under any circumstances. PS Paul Restoration: Not scared of your attorney. You will not get paid for a bid. Its the cost of doing business as the State Farm agent told you. Threatening me with legal action will get you the opposite of what you want. I will never, ever tuck tail and run. This week a letter was placed on my door that my HOME WILL BE AUCTIONED OFF ON AUG 30, 2022, a home my husband and I worked hard for, to suffice an unfounded 4k debt. I have reached out to Paul Davis Restoration, and they refer us to the Attorney for them, who will not stop the sale for less than 10K! Sadly, a business will take a home and displace 70 yr olds in its community to resolve an unfounded debt. Two years ago, my kitchen sink leaked and caused some damage to the floor and room below. We contacted our insurance, and they recommended Paul Davis Restoration. They arrived with a team of 3, removed all the cabinets, placed them in the front room, cut a 5x10 section of drywall from the space below, set up fans overnight, and returned the next day to collect the fans. I mentioned that my nephew was doing the kitchen, and after that, they stopped responding to messages and calls and dropped the job for 2 1/2 weeks! They finally txt and apologized for the delay. By that time, we had removed the debris and moved on. Until the bill came for 4k, I requested a breakdown and was sent a coded invoice that I could not figure out, but I saw charges for debris removal, which they did NOT do. Promptly I was served papers to pay the 4k, and we responded and filed with Paul Davis Restoration Attorney and the Courts. This company is dishonest and spiteful. THIS COMPANY DOESN'T CARE ABOUT YOU OR ITS REPUTATION! 4 people knew that I was having a problem and none of them helped me; Austin, Kyle, Dustin or the Regional Manager. I'm blown away by their lack of customer service and communication. The mitigation process, with Austin, went great at the beginning but everything after the repair estimate was a NIGHTMARE! Once Dustin McBride, the one handling the mitigation process, THOUGHT I wasn't having them do the WHOLE job he started treating me like crap. He wouldn't respond to my text questions. I called and talked to Kyle on a Thursday and let him know that I was concerned about the lack of communication. He assured me he would talk to him and make sure he communicated better with me. 4 days later Dustin texted me at 4:30 pm (right before he was going home for the day) and said they wouldn't be able to start my job for 6 WEEKS. I texted back and said, "When I talked to you 2 weeks ago you said the job would be started in about 2 weeks." He texted back that was based on them doing ALL the work. I assured him that I never said they weren't going to do the whole job and I just wanted to wait to see what the estimate said. There were crickets after that. I'm so confused about this manner of handling problems. I also called and left a message for the regional manager of Paul Davis but it's been 4 days so I doubt if they care either. If you look at some of the other reviews about Paul Davis, Paul Davis stops working when someone complains about a problem they are having. They run away instead of actively solving the problem. I checked out the Utah Disaster Kleenup reviews. I was impressed that when someone complained they wanted to find them in their system and make things right. That's the kind of company that I want to work with, one that is concerned about their reputation!!!!! I've hired UDK to come and do the work. I guess my $14,000 wasn't enough for Paul Davis. (they would have gotten over $22,000 for the whole job). Unfortunately for them, when I'm treated poorly I let EVERYONE know about it. They should have at least acted as if they cared. After parting ways with Paul Davis, I went to the cabinet company to order the exact kitchen cabinets that Paul Davis was ordering for me. I was astonished and shocked at the upcharge! Paul Davis was charging me exactly $4,375 MORE than the check I wrote to the cabinet company. My check included full service of delivery, assembly and installation. So basically Paul Davis wanted me to pay them $4,375 for a recommendation and placing an order. I did all that in a half at hour at the cabinet company's show room. $4,375 dollars is a steep price for half an hour worth of work. I love the cabinet company they recommend, they said work with them because they give Paul Davis a discount! Well instead of a discount I was up charged $4,375. I gave myself a discount by firing them and walking into the showroom and spending 30 minutes there with pleasant helpful people. I would have given Paul Davis of Utah a higher rating. My family member had given up with Paul Davis of Utah and had asked me to follow up on the project. This is just my personal opinion and experience. I work for a sister company of Paul Davis in another industry unrelated to this franchaise and I often made referrals to restoration services my line of business. I have had 3 water loss claims in years past so I am familiar with the process, the cost estimation, billing practices, etc. The remediation from a fire incident was quick and responsive as it was an insurance claim. The restoration proposal took a little while to generate and lacked minute details. The project manager, supposedly to be experienced, was anything but. I have been given multiple reasons for his unavailability, non-responsiveness, and lack of follow-through to the point that they eventually seem to be excuses -- anything from, "I was on vacations..." to "I thought the contractor did that already." I would call and text for days waiting for a short redirect. On an incident that happened in July, it took nearly 9 months to complete. The workmanship by the subcontractors was acceptable but not great. The pricing with Xactimate was high but we went with it because the insurance company suggested the company and was standing behind the service. Simply looking at photos, I can see that there was a lack of supervision by the project manager. I would never allow my clients to accept the work performed if I was there and saw what I saw. There were a lot of oversights -- too many to track. In the end, I just wanted to get it done. I have had to turn down rentals because the residence was not ready for occupation. The insurance adjustor kept asking months after months, is the project done; why is it taking so long? The last remaining work to be done and confirmation took another 2 months. I even resorted to contacting their management team for assistance. Then came the billing, which was correct, but only after I contact the accounting manager. Their A/R was not aware that there was a project that they have been floating the $$,$$$ expenses for months because it had not been completed. Again, my experience is with one individual. I appreciate that they were reputable and available. I understand that my incident could have happened with many other smaller restoration companies. I am sure Paul Davis Restoration of Utah is a well-run company. I would still recommend them for service. They had asked for a review a few times. I rarely issue one but I was compelled to do so. I really appreciate all of the help that Paul Davis has given me throughout the construction process.The process first started with Ben, he is very friendly and understanding. He came out to the house to see the extent of the work that needed to be done. He was upfront with the amount of the work needing to be done and within 24 hours I was contacted by Justin. Justin came out, took measurements, and put together a bid for us. They were extra careful to get an engineer out to make sure that there would be no structural damage long term.These guys were quick and responsive. They do great work and are locally owned. Yes 5 mistakes on simple plumbing. Surely, they got to come back to redone those 5 mistakes. But 3 out of those 5 mistakes, they had to come back for the 3rd time to make it right, with attitude! My reimbursement money's been about 10 months by now that they are supposed to pay me back but what I've been getting is either no replying back to me or excuses. I finally told them I am not having them finish the work after I found out they had been paid up front by the insurance and still not finished the job. They were telling me what I could and could not spend my insurance $ on trying to keep all the extra profit $ they could and making me take the cuts. Still waiting for them to send the insurance $ back to my agent so I can have a new check cut back to me which will allow me to pay another company to finish the job in a timely manner. Paul Davis did a great job of remediation of our mold issue. The problem came with the reconstruction. The project manager was great but the subcontractor that they hired to do a very simple job was embarrasing in their incompetence. We ended up doing much of the finish work ourselves and out of our own pocket. To their credit, Paul Davis offered to have the contractor come out a 3rd Tim to get it right. It took months to finish the project. They would send out unqualified workers who made a mess and had to send out someone else to clean it up. We were billed triple what we should have been billed because we had to pay for every person who came out and worked on the basement (even for the workers who had no clue what they were doing). We ended up paying thousands of dollars after insurance paid for a job that should have been completed in a few days, not months. We decided not to use them for the flooring because they quoted us thousands more. Even when they fixed the issues from the sub contractor we were billed a huge amount for their inconvenience. Paul Davis is a very capable restoration company. They came out right away when we had a flood in our basement. The cause of the problem wasn't immediately obvious, and they spent quite a while diagnosing the problem. Their dry-out team was great! They came back several times to check on the project, and cleaned up the mess completely when they were done. I would definitely recommend them for drying out a flooded basement! It took us a while to get ahold of their reconstruction team. But with persistence, we were able to reach them, and they were very professional. read more

Truly the worst! Our simple restoration of our Master Bath took over a year due to the lack of communication, non-response and delays of Paul Davis and their subpar contractors. Simple work like dry walling and painting needed to be redone and most subcontractors left our home a complete and utter mess. Paul Davis failed to seal off the bathroom during demolition and we were left with fine dust all over our master closet and bedroom. Promises up and down for a full clean once construction was complete never came to fruition. Find someone else...no matter the cost. One note - the tile contractor was incredible. Loved them. When the main water line to my house broke and flooded my window well and basement, Paul Davis was quick to respond. Within 1-2 hours they were there sucking up the water, adding fans, and dehumidifying. They taped off the room with a plastic barrier and only pulled up/off damaged carpet pad and baseboard. They were able to salvage the drywall. All three professionals that I met, Greg, Tanner, and Kristy, were EXCEPTIONAL! The service was beyond my wildest expectations. If I could give this company a negative star I would. I have never been treated so unprofessionally in my life. One of Paul Davis's vehicles ran into my bike and car ( bike was on the back of the car on the way back from a mountain biking trip) almost THREE MONTHS AGO and I have still not been compensated for the damages they have done. I haven't been able to go mountain biking for the rest of this season because I cannot afford to fix my bike. They claimed liability for the accident, but said they were not responsible for the damages that were done to my car or bike. A real head scratcher. I was told by one of their employees, Jennifer McClain, that there was no way the bike on the back of my car did the damages it did to my car when the bike looked fine. I was patronized, basically told I was a lier, and bullied on the phone by Jennifer McClain. I had to send a video of the way my bike was on the car when the accident happened and how the damages lined up perfectly with each other for them to finally pursue the next step a month later. I sent them a quote for the structural damages to my bike as well as the damages that were done to the back of my car from a local highly rated body shop. I never received a response and called back two weeks later. she stated they were going to try to "help me out" but they wanted a second quote and they wanted it to be from a reputable company they know of. And I'm supposed to trust them after the way I was originally treated? HECK NO. So I got a second quote from a well known, reputable dealership and sent them results of that quote with no response for weeks. So I called them AGAIN and they were asking me what the results were from the local insurance adjusters they scheduled and demanded me to see. I told them I didn't go to that company and that my second quote I already sent them by email was sufficient and reliable and within $100 of my first quote.This STILL has not been enough for them and I have once again been patronized and was told by Jennifer McClain that I was being difficult and was apparently causing all the problems. She stated that her manager is apparently really picky about who does the adjustment and she is wanting me to get a third quote from that adjuster. I don't give a hoot who this manager, Branden, wants to adjust my vehicle!!!! They damaged MY vehicle not the other way around. I feel like they are acting like some teenager that broke a window to my house and is now trying to call the shots on how things should be done! No wonder I don't trust them! Jennifer McClain is a fake. She never responds to my emails and has made it very clear she wants nothing to do with me. She apologizes that she has been so busy and that I have been on her mind and that she was just going to call me back when it has been two weeks since her last contact and it was her turn to respond to something I sent. She said she didn't get an email after making comments about that email she apparently didn't get just a few minutes earlier while on the phone. I realize their procrastination is most likely intentional at this point and they are making things as difficult as possible in hopes I will walk away. I finally asked to talk to the manager Branden who she stated will be out of town until November 24th. I told her that I would like his phone number. She says she will go ahead and give him a call and ask him to call me when she has a whole lot of other stuff that she needs to be doing right now and worrying about... SERIOUSLY? Apparently I have all this extra time to bow to their every whim when what I have presented them is valid, reputable, and reasonable. Do they think I am just sitting on the couch eating donuts all day while I demand to be compensated for damages they have done??? For their information, I am in nursing school, just went through a crazy move, have been getting very little sleep due to my schooling requirements, have two young children, and also have a crap load of stuff to be taking care of right now as well, but apparently that means nothing to them. If you want a company that is going to be dishonest, not take accountability for their actions, treat you like you are an idiot, try to intimidate you, control you, and stab you in the back when they have an opportunity, then Paul Davis is the company for you!!!! They didn't restore my home, but with the way I have been treated for a situation that should have been straight forward, simple, and quick to handle, I would NEVER trust this company if my home and family situation was in crisis.
