Our oil burner at our home in Marstons Mill, MA here on Cape COd stopped working at about 5:30 PM last night - December 26th. I did not know until about 6:30 PM. I realized the electricity powering the burner stopped working. I called more than a dozen electricians. None had an available electrician for the coming week. Paul answered my call while on site at a job. I explained our situation. No heat overnight. My 84-year-old mother made it through the heatless night last night but cannot do so again tonight. Paul walked me through by telephone things to checks to identify the problem. Nothing changed. Paul gave me his word he would come asap. 42 minutes later Paul and his apprentice were on site. Within 30 minutes of their arrival, the electricity to the oil burner was working and heat resumed in the house. Paul is a straight shooter. He is a man dedicated to his profession and a person who genuinely cares about helping others in need and making a difference. I have worked with many electricians in my time, but few have the communication skills and the desire and ability to educate customers about their electricity infrastructure etc. as Paul. Paul cancelled 3 times before his arrival today. He has done work for me before, and although the cost seemed pricey, he completed the tasks. Today he arrived wearing a MAGA hat. Paul does not understand that he is a guest in my home, I hired him, and his politics should be kept to himself. Total cost to replace a ring camera and install an additional outlet was $360. We agreed mutually to never do business again. He also did not replace the entire camera with the new one that was mailed to me. You should check his work before he leaves would be my advice. read more

We had replacement central AC systems installed recently in our home and the manufacturer's code for circuit breaker amps was different than what was previously installed 20 years ago. We needed an electrician to remove the old AC-line circuit breakers and install new ones. I called Paul on Friday afternoon and by Saturday noon he had purchased replacement breaker at Home Depot and installed them in our house. (Installation time was about 10 minutes). We communicated via text messages before hand which speeded up him getting the info needed for the type of circuit breaker required. I'd called a few electricians who lived nearby about electrical sockets in two rooms which weren't working. I've always figured it's best to keep business local in my town when possible. The local contractor is often able to stop by sooner than someone who lives further away. I left a voice mail message for the 1st gentleman. He returned my call much later, saying he was tied up with a family emergency and wouldn't be able to stop by for another 4 or 5 days. I called him back-- 4 days later-- to see what time he could stop over. He told me he'd try to get someone else for me. He didn't mention a day or a time, and no one else ever contacted me. The 2nd electrician I called never returned my call. Paul Dunn was the 3rd electrician I called. He lived somewhat further away than the other two contractors. He answered my phone call right away. He said he was headed out on a job.. but said that he could stop by around noontime-- that same day. He called be right at noon and said he was running a little late but he was on his way. He arrived promptly at 12:30 as promised. The outage turned out to be a small project. He successfully completed his work. He checked it to be certain the sockets were working correctly. Paul was more than fair with his price. He charged me below his regular house call service fee since the job was small and simple. Friday night. Easter weekend. We arrived home to find half the house without power. The wind had been howling so could be from that or maybe a lightning strike targeted the circuit breakers. Or who knows what? Who ya gonna call when it's been years since you have had to bring in an electrician??? After searching around the web and reading reviews, Paul Dunn was first on our list. Couldn't find anybody who had a bad word to say about him! We had 4 other names penciled in below his on our call list just in case he was out of town. But lucky for us, Paul took our Saturday morning call and said he would be there after his first customer. He asked us to forward our text number since he was on the road. Extra points for safe driving. Then he texted to tell us he was on his way and give us his approximate ETA. He even showed up a bit early. Paul is the perfect mix of professional, congenial and efficient. His service call charge was more than fair and affordable. His experience in the field is comprehensive. Paul checked circuits, all were ok. Within 15 minutes, he diagnosed the problem as originating in the line from the pole into the house and advised us to call EverSource who came later that day.
