After a month I finally opened a case with the state bar to investigate as I'd already paid her a significant sum, and I hired another lawyer, who was able to move things along in days. Altogether, the month-long delay in my case plus the cost of an additional lawyer cost me thousands of dollars. After well over a month, and after I'd completed the process with another lawyer, she finally responded with little explanation. I want to be sympathetic to "family issues", but I would expect at *least* setting an "out of office" email so people know what's going on. She only partially refunded my money (kept a significant amount). I overall found this behavior deeply unprofessional and dishonest.

It caused me to question whether or not I'd even want to work with them, but I figured I should still take the consultation since I'd come that far. Luckily, the attorney I spoke with was professional, and answered all of my questions thoroughly. He seemed to think we had a viable case, so I followed up again a few months later once we were ready to proceed. When I called back to schedule another appointment, I got the same stern and one-sided communication from the intake specialist again, and it raised the same red flag that I'd felt before. This may be a great firm for all I know, but communication style matters heading into a legal proceeding, and I just have to trust my instinct on this. It's very frustrating to have to start over from scratch after paying $500+ for a consultation and wasting all that time on the intake questionnaire, but I don't feel comfortable proceeding.

You'd think they would've told you that in the beginning that they can't take on new cases? This has happened with a couple of other law firms as well. And they won't give an answer Why??
