Had a wildly awful experience here today. This person at the front desk was Incredibly disrespectful and dismissive, with no communication skills. I asked for this person's name and she refused to give it to me or let me speak to anyone. Just immediately "get out of here, you are not welcome, you are banned." Ok, that's cool. It was however wild how much she escalated the situation. So then I am outside leaving this review while the memory is fresh, on a public street, and this oddball has called security. I wasn't aware that I wasn't allowed to be in front of the place on a public street, this was odd and a little humiliating. I asked if I could speak to someone, they refused, I told them to take care and left. Good riddance then! The reason for the conflict is that they scheduled me with somebody specific and told me they would call if there was an issue with the scheduling - and when I came in, it was a completely different person (Emma) who had SMELLY HANDS (just came back from lunch, apparently) and didn't seem to know what they were doing. They then tell me they'd try to find someone else only to come back with their instructor who immediately started painfully pulling my hair and taking out my hair clips (I was wincing, she ignored it) without first asking for consent to touch me. At this point I was befuddled by how communication could be so sloppy and smirky and passive aggressive in an industry built on rapport, so I went to the front to try to reschedule or resolve only to be completely dismissed and disrespected by whoever that was working in the front. This person was either incapable or unwilling to participate in any comprehension or problem solving, and decided to be incredibly nasty about it. This is who represents this place, I guess. I've had a hit or miss in this facility (some great cuts, some awful ones too, I'd say this place is again, sloppy at best) and unfortunately today it was the last straw because while students are learning, there is no reason to disrespect someone and be dismissive. read more

booked on the website, they said $60 for a highlight no cut or other service, and would take longer the website quotes 3 1/2 hours for highlights which is longer but I expected this since they are students I had a student who had never done highlights on a person before (only on a mannequin) after 7 hours of just highlights and toner (no hair cut or additional service) they charged be $160. terrible service by the staff. Manager unwilling to honor the discount for service from one day to another from my pre-scheduled appointment I made. They called me because they had to reschedule. I'm a 24 hr caretaker of my handicap mother who can't be left alone and needs a babysitter if I leave the house. I went to the school to get my hair colored. The idea was that my natural color stays on top and it would be a natural transition into a natural red. The teacher said that they can do it but would have to bleach my hair. I trusted them fully since the teachers are supervised. First they colored my hairline darker which turned almost into a black . I'm not sure why they did that but I still trusted them since they are the professionals. Then I got my hair bleached and then they colored it red. I was super excited to see the final results because everyone including the teacher said it looks great. But when I saw the results I was absolutely shocked. The final product looked nothing like we discussed. The bleaching was done absolutely horrible, very messy looking and the color didn't look like in the picture. There wasn't any smooth natural looking transition at all. It was going from black into a way too light red. It looks absolutely horrible and is a nightmare since I can't see clients with hair that looks so unprofessional. My hair is ruined and it will take years until my natural hair will grow back. I learned my lesson and will never get my hair done by students again. But I'm way more shocked that the teacher approved all this and was happy with the results. Otherwise the students and teachers were nice and friendly. But that doesn't help me if my hair is ruined now. After the appointment I just cried for the rest of the day. It was awful. read more

I do not recommend this salon school. Dropped my daughter off at 9:30am for a color and cut. By 5:30pm they still hadn't got to her cut! Manager rudely suggested this is how long beauty schools take....really? 8 HOURS!?!?! For highlights??? I have been coming here for a couple of years now, and I have yet to have a bad experience. The students are always friendly and definitely range in experience level, but that is the whole point of this being a school. I have had several who knee exactly what to do and others where the teacher essentially gave me a haircut. Again, the end result has always been a nice haircut. Especially being a guy, this is the place to go. On Wednesdays and Fridays, a men's haircut is only $5!! You can not beat this price anywhere else. Just make sure you asl for a phase 1 haircut to get that price. And, it includes a shampooing that has made me a person who did not enjoy the haircut process. I actually look forward to coming. It's the little things like that that make an experience enjoyable. The actual haircut can be a little longer than great clips or one of the other commercial options, but that is worth it knowing I'm helping students learn and getting a great deal at the same time! read more

Im taking legal action against this school. I truly hope it gets shut down. Students are taught to ignore others with medical needs even when I collapsed and couldn't breathe in front of a class of 40 students. The teachers stopped students from helping me and did nothing to support me. Don't bother with this location. From what I've seen and how I've had to need ER treatment after attending the night school- sometimes after 30 minutes of entering the school. This school made someone with a chronic illness sick. They do not support you even after ADA forms - I've seen and heard of students with medical needs quitting because they school refused to accommodate even with doctor orders. I have a chronic illness that was dormant (I overcame severe symptoms 15 years before I attended here) but after coming here- I've been bedrest more than I've been in school. I lost my job of 1year & 7 months - applied for disability & just signed my OCR consent form. This is a disgrace of education center by ANY means . Most of this was kept hidden through constant work orders by the last Principal. She left and the students saw the school for what it is.. A HAZARD FOR HEALTH . read more

I wanted to support this school and a friend so I came in for a haircut and bayalage and wanted to just leave some overall thoughts. I don't think that everyone has a bad experience here and I did see some gorgeous hair come out of this school however I wish that the teachers on the floor gave more guidance. I noticed that the teacher came over in the beginning to price out my haircut but then disappeared and only resurfaced once I had been there for 7 hours and was the only client left. At that point my hair was not what I had wanted and I just wanted to get out of there. I feel like had the teachers been paying attention and giving feedback my friend would have been learning as she went which is what should happen for the price she is paying in tuition. 1. If you can afford to get your hair dyed somewhere else, I would. These stylists are in school and I overestimated knowledge and thought the teachers would help oversee. My hair turned out orange and I think it's because the toner my stylist wanted to use was out. It sounded like this happens a lot. I came back the next day and had to go much lighter than I would have otherwise. 2. If you don't like your hair tell someone. They will fix it for free. It may take another couple of hours but they will do it. Before you go you can also check in on Yelp and get a free haircut. 3. Haircuts here all seemed cute! I would come back for a cut. 4. Be really clear on what you expect your hair to look like. One picture won't do it. 5. Block off your day. This may take a really long time. In my case I spent 10 hours at the salon. I was enrolled at Paul Mitchell as an esthetician student, full of excitement and anticipation for the top-notch education I had heard about. However, my experience so far has been far from what I expected. Firstly, the false advertising of certain night class schedules and class flexibility on their website and services we would be learning that are supposed to be included were not. So please make sure you're asking the right questions before enrolling Additionally, the quality of instruction has been inconsistent. While some instructors are knowledgeable and engaging, others seem disinterested and unprepared. This inconsistency in teaching has left me feeling unsure about the education I'm receiving and whether it's preparing me adequately for a career in esthetics. This lack of interest and judgement from instructors has been frustrating and disruptive to my learning process. We got absolutely no clear instructions from the educators on how to use equipment, some are locked up and you are judged and reprimanded when asking for absaloutly anything. Much if the time you come to school with nothing to do just waiting around to clock in hours. We are grouped with classes in different stages and we all have to learn from each other. Not exactly what I paid for, I will say the facility and the equipment we use is up to date and regularly maintained with a lot of stuff to experiment with but feel judged by instructors when doing so. I would also add that the cosmetology program might be a better option if you do want to enroll in this school. Otherwise I would look elsewhere for esthetics. I had hoped for a supportive learning environment where I could thrive and develop my skills. Regrettably, my experience thus far has left me questioning the value of my investment in this program. honestly if i could give six star rating i would. I was lucky enough to have paige hand touch up my hair. I came in and told her make me look like j balvin. She did just that, great at buzzing my hair too she didn't miss a single spot. i went from looking like a mexican version of jesus in a telenovela to looking like i produce reggaeton beats (i do lowkey). Paige was the best though she even bought me an italian 8 inch sub with lettuce tomato onion banana peppers jalapeños italian seasoning and mayo from stack subs while we waited for my hair to turn purple. That sub was so good though i hadn't eaten since yesterday during lunch when i ate a chicken sandwich. Anyways great cut, great hands great music too they were throwin early 2000s bangers the entire 3 hours i was here literally not a single miss, gonna personally ask paul mitchell to send me this spotify playlist he made. I have gone to Paul Mitchell (PM)school 3x now for color. My first experience was by far the most satisfactory. I wanted light auburn hair. My hair is and was red with gray roots. I explained what I wanted and I showed them a picture. My hair came out a bit too coppery but all in all it was okay. Therefore, I decided to schedule a 2nd appointment. Unfortunately, the student who colored my hair initially had graduated. My new stylist was very nice! Although perhaps she may have been less experienced. Students are guided by instructors. *I was not asked whether I wanted a more or less experienced student when making my appointments. When I went in for my 2nd color appointment, I told them that the first color was pretty good but I wanted less of a copper tone and more of a light auburn color. I again showed them pictures. They said that they would remove the "orange shots" from my formula and that would result in the color I wanted. Unfortunately, my hair came out super orange. It was obviously to EVERYONE that the color was NOT GOOD so they very nicely had me come back the following day to fix it. The color came out darker than I wanted but at least it was no longer orange. They told me that was the only way to get rid of the orange. I set up a third appointment for color because they told me that "they had my formula right now." Therefore, I anticipated going there yesterday to get my hair colored and coming out thrilled with the results; my hair the perfect shade of light auburn. Sadly, that's not the case. I now have to go to work today with green looking hair If the color I was seeking was unachievable, PM should've let their student and myself know. Embarrassingly, my hair now looks green. I believe that given the outcome and my time (I have spent hours and hours there), an honorable business would refund my money! I did not expect a salon experience at a school. However, I do believe that it's reasonable to be refunded for several subpar experiences and for the hours and hours I spent there!!! I will not recommend PM school for color!!! read more

Excellent experience! I went in to get my hair bleached from dark brunette (dark brunette being my natural color) and the hair stylist Jessica nailed it. I have had my hair bleached icy white for years & was not expecting miracles especially since my hair was dark brown & could not expect to be completely white with one application. Jessica got it closer to white than anyone I have ever been to transitioning from dark brunette to white. I felt well taken care of & their teachers are always close by for guidance for their students & checking in with the guests. read more

Taylor is amazing. She had a huge task ahead of her for a color correction. It was a disaster, yellow thin highlights and an ugly brown color all over. She took the time and effort to do highlights all over to make sure I was back to blonde and a cool beautiful blonde color. I have long and super thick hair so it took a LONG time, not once did she complain. We had wonderful conversation and she made me feel like an old friend. Thank you so much for the time spent and the attention to detail. I am so happy with the color now and have found a new stylist! I was a little leery about going here to get my color done but they did an excellent job and my hair didn't turn out green--hooray! I've never been to a Paul Mitchell school but have been to other schools and the process is pretty similar. They have Level 1 and Level 2 students who can work on you (Level 1 being the cheaper option), when you go in you can over what you are looking for. I always bring a picture with me so I can truly convey what I am wanting done with my head. They start filling out a checklist then bring an instructor over to go over what you want and go from there. In the past this process has taken a ridiculously long time with coloring my hair at a school but it actually took the same amount of time as it takes when I go to a regular stylist (about two hours). That was much appreciated since I get impatient and want it to be done with but they weren't too crazy with the check ups from the instructor....possibly b/c my girl was a level 2 student. You get Paul Mitchell color and products in your hair which is way better than he standard Suave I use on the daily and once I saw the color, I was wow'ed. Wowed like, I couldn't stop looking at myself b/c my hair looked fabulous and like it was alive again! The best part is if you book a follow up appointment you get 20% off your next visit-now that's something I can get down with! read more

I originally came to PM in college because I could get a good deal on a budget, but now I keep coming back because of how amazing I feel after my visits. Yesterday I had Reyanna, and she KNOCKED it out of the park. I wanted to freshen up my blonde and get rid of the brassiness and she absolutely did that. You know when you awkwardly make small talk with a hairdresser and then just sit there bored for like hours until you're done? Not the case. My hairdresser was amazing, she made me feel like I was one of her girlfriends. She was telling me the dirt on one of her classmates, this poor girl who was being cheated on by her boyfriend but was in total denial about it, she even pointed her out lol so savage. She was gorgeous too I felt so bad. Honestly sometimes you just gotta sip your tea when that shit happens but I do love hearing juicy gossip while I'm getting my hair done. The ombré was done surprisingly well too, I was nervous she wasn't paying attention because she was talking so much. I'll definitely be back when I need a recolor. Highly recommend! read more

If you are thinking about attending here I would highly recommend one to not waste 20k! It looks like a great school, but looks are very deceiving ! Number one - doesn't even have an esthetics program so when you are trying to learn nails or facials all you will do is bead monomer and polymer on a piece of paper or rub a doll head... great but when you spend 20k would be nice to actually learn the service and be able to perform it since it will be on your state board! Number two, they are so focused on Paul Mitchell culture they don't even teach you how to do things correctly! If you attend here, you will probably have to pay more money after you graduate to take the course from Colorado kit company so you can actually get your license ! That is kind of laughable since you spend so much money! When I was in final phase, what was taught was nothing like what is actually going to happen in state boards ! When doing color, you will actually never use real color products because They can't afford that so you will just do color applications with cholesterol! Sorry but that teaches you nothing about color theory! And you barely will get service guests bc this idiotic beauty school basically charges over $100 for like a color service, over $150 for a balayage! I rather go to fantastic sams and pay $70 if I was on a budget and get a service by someone licensed and experienced that is not going to ruin my hair! Especially since your paying over 100$ for a student to ruin it! Another hilarious thing when I was going to school here, the financial aide department had a contest to go give them a good review on google to enter in for a Starbucks Card so if you see good reviews from students it was bc their reviews were so Atrocious they literally tried to bribe students to get them better ! Another thing, if the front desk doesn't like you you will never get student services ... the few they have because their prices are ridiculous! Also, they are so bad w even having products on hand when I attended here they were out of gloves and made a student named Natalie perform a bleaching service! Well without the gloves she ended up getting burns all over her hands and had to go to the hospital! This school is an absolute joke and very deplorable to even call themselves an institution for education! Good luck for those who chose to waste their time and money here! its a fucking terrible place to go to school....all i have to say is that u spend 20,000 to come to school just for them to teach u for the first 3 months the bsics and then they put u on the floor with no instruction....i had no idea what to do for the first month on the floor! u cant even choose where u want to sit.....a couple of the teachers make it seem like u have to sit near them and i know its not to learn....they wanna keep an eye on you and i personally feel very uncomfortable feeling like im being wacthed. we pay enough money as is to be able to sit in a place that makes u feel less stressed.. in my time here i have seen a teacher make people including my self feel so overwhelmed that myself or these other students start to cry and just end up leaving.. no one should make u feel that way especially a teacher! i can go on and on but yeah....go somehere else where you can do what you need to do and not feel like not going to school bc certain teachers make you feel a type of way.. read more
