Nick is incredibly talented, warm, and detail oriented. He really listens and takes the time to make sure everything looks perfect. Latherhouse is a truly wonderful salon. I appreciate the dedication and time they spend on my hair. They really take the initiative to listen and make sure their clients are satisfied. I quit frequenting Aveda and chose this salon because Latherhouse is family owned. You'll walk out of here WORSE than when you came in!! I wish I could rate this place lower than a one star. If you have dark hair BEWARE. I called and asked for someone who specializes in color and they booked me with someone who they warned me couldn't cut hair (which should have been my first sign). I asked for all over hair color which we had to come to a compromise of because my hair had a "band" of darker hair so they said they would use that tone to match the rest of my hair. Immediately when my hair was being washed I knew something was wrong and the stylist apologized because she didn't get the formula right. She mentioned switching to a new brand, Wella, and sometimes the formula is slightly off so she messed up. It was a much more violet red than we gad decided on so she offered to have me come in to get it redone. The second time I spent four hours there and immediately again when they washed my hair i knew something was wrong. The stylist was silent and didn't say one word until my hair was dried bc she knew how bad it was. The hair color was still more violet than we discussed and my roots were starkly much much darker and not blended at all. It looks like my roots weren't even dyed. I've never had such horrible work on my hair before and never walked out with my roots so unblended. I called the owner and she said I'm not accepting the scientific logic of why my hair looks like this and said my roots were blended well. Take a look for yourself and decide. (I posted a photo) Their communication is horrible (which they admitted) their approach was wrong (which they admitted) and they're not even offering a refund for such miserable work. Again, if you have dark hair don't come here it's obvious they don't know how to approach it. Edit: What an apathetic sarcastic "awe". Her response mirrors the lack of explanation given for the horrible root job. A compromise in color should not affect the ability to color my roots or at the very least blend it well. I'm sick of being gaslit into thinking these roots are dyed well when I've been getting my hair dyed well for more than a decade. I have been extremely courteous by not naming the specific stylist because I believe the salon should take accountability. Whatever "free" services spiel is to rectify their mistakes. I paid over $200 without a refund and I just hope no one else makes the same mistake and trusts this salon. read more

Went in for a men's cut, the lady was also coloring and cutting another persons hair... I asked for a fade and she gave me a mushroom cut... I had to ask her specifically to blend it. Got home and found that my sideburns were uneven and so was my hair. She didn't even clean up the back... I told her I love the length of my hair I just need to trim it, clean up my long layers and get some volume. She listened! It makes me sad to write this review because I feel like the manager and my stylist were both very nice. At the end of the day, I was hoping to just let it go, but I don't feel like it was settled in a fair way. I went in for an American Wave (my first time) in the evening...and everything appeared to go smoothly. As I was driving home, I felt a really really intense burning on my neck and face...By the time I got home, I noticed my neck and face were very red and STILL burning. At this point the salon was closed, so I wasn't sure what to do. After a wave, you aren't supposed to get your hair wet, but the burning was so bad that I took a shower to rinse my neck and face. The burning subsided, but the next morning I woke up and noticed that I had burns along my face and deeper burns on my neck. The next morning, I did get ahold of the salon, and they had me come in, they applied neutralizing solution, and washed my hair and skin. They took pictures of the burns and told me to follow up with them. At this point, they did offer to pay for any visit to the doctor that I might need. I probably should've asked for a refund right then, but I don't like criticizing people who are working/nice, wasn't sure if the perm would hold, or if it was their fault or an allergic reaction. So, fast forward a few weeks, and I go to get a haircut with my usual stylist (different salon). She sees the marks on my neck and is definitely taken aback. She says that the solution was left on too long and not wiped off properly and that she is shocked my hair hasn't fallen off. In general, the waves have also mostly fallen out. I send a message to Latherhouse letting them know what my stylist said... Which bring me to today...The manager called me and says she wanted to speak with me in person. She says that they do agree the solution was left on too long and not wiped off properly and reiterates that if I go to see a doctor for the residual scarring...to send them a bill. I think this entire time, I've been expecting them to offer me a refund...Because...well...My skin got burned and now I have scars on my neck. I called them back and finally just asked for a refund. I was told (manager relayed this to me after asking the owner) that they couldn't do that because I was "living in the perm" (which has fallen out) and they couldn't just "give me money". In my mind, if someone gets a chemical burn...and you admit you did something incorrectly...you should probably give them a refund...Whether you permed them or not? Regardless, I would just like to move on from this hair saga. If you go here for a wave...Make sure that the solution does NOT drip onto your skin and that it is wiped off properly!....Or maybe just don't get one here. read more

I came here the other day for a trim and ended up chopping off nearly 6 inches!! Hayley was the best hair stylist I've ever had and made me feel so beautiful. My hair has never felt so light, soft, and wonderful. Absolutely coming back here when the time comes and strongly suggest you do too!! (Hayley did such a wonderful job blending in my grown-out bangs!! I feel so confident with this new haircut!) Went in to get my hair dyed and cut. The hair cut i got was just not good and incredibly blunt. I asked for layers, there were none. It ended up looking so bad I went home and cut it myself. The stylist showed me two different dyes for the hair i wanted, i pointed out which color i wanted, and then she went back and made a bowl of a completely different color than i asked for, but i hadnt realized before it was too late. And while this probably isnt the fault of the stylist, my hair began to fall out completely and after 3 weeks it was so thin i then had to shave my head entirely. She was FANTASTIC. I don't usually like to small talk while getting my hair done and she carried on a convo but was totally natural and helpful. MORE IMPORTANTLY - she knows her stuff. I love my hair even though I didn't have much help to give her as far as what I needed more than "Help me, my hair looks terrible and I don't know what to do with it." I chose latherhouse because my preferred stylist was on sabbatical and I was in desperate need of highlights. I took the first available appointment at latherhouse because they had good reviews. My hair will never be the same. I sat with bleach on my hair for hours, while being told by my stylist that she "preferred to work slower". After multiple hours in the salon, I went home with color still in my hair and multiple sections missing color and roots showing. I called the salon and explained the situation and was told to come back for a color correction. I did and was charged again for their incompetence. My hair is burned to the root in some places and I'm currently trying to correct the damage they caused. 0/10 would recommend. read more

A few things that make them great: they keep up on all the latest in hair trends and care, taking part in workshops and continuing education to stay current, they are honest about whether a style or color will actually work for you and are just awesome people to spend time with (I'm there every 5-6 weeks so I spend a lot of time with them!).
