I had Ilme as my hairstylist, who my friend recommended me. The haircut itself was fine, but for the price ($100), it was far from the best haircut I've ever had. Ilme's passionate about her work, and it shows in how well she educated me about why I should do certain things for my hair. The biggest value proposition for such an expensive haircut is the follow-up complementary cleanup as well as the education aspect. All this being said, I am rating Ilme and/or this location 2 stars because I believe there may be a systematic issue causing mistakes in the bookings or a lack of care to make sure she is on time to bookings. During my original appointment, she was late by approximately 15 minutes, and then during my cleanup a couple of weeks later, she left early and was no longer on-site for my appointment despite having a text confirmation from the location about the appointment. read more

I sent my 12-year-old daughter in for a haircut today and was surprised to find I was significantly overcharged--with no explanation given. I had booked a child's haircut online with Cassidy, which was listed at $37. Because my daughter has very thick hair that falls just past her shoulders, I called ahead a few days in advance to confirm that it would still qualify as a child's cut. I explained the thickness and even suggested they might need additional time. I was assured it would be fine and that Cassidy was skilled with scissor work and could complete the cut within the 45-minute slot. Her father accompanied her to the appointment. The card I had on file was charged--including his tip--but no receipt was provided, and no one communicated that the total came to $85. He had no idea the charge was more than double what we expected. I wouldn't have minded paying more if I had been informed upfront, but the lack of transparency felt dishonest. To say that Rachel is talented is an understatement. She is amazing on every level. Her ability to dig deep to understand my hair goals was impressive. This was my first appointment with her and Parlour. And I will be back. Being new to the area, I was so nervous because finding the right fit can be like dating - it's like looking for a needle in a haystack! That said, Rachel took her time, asked the right questions and the outcome was amazing. She set realistic expectations from the start which was appreciated. In the end, she cleaned up my ends (no major haircut this time around) and focused on the color - which turned out beautifully. I enjoyed my time with her and will be back. Already scheduled my follow up appointment. She recommended some hair products but was not pushy with selling anything to me. I purchased what I needed/wanted. The salon has plenty of street parking, has a nice modern feel and was really clean and open. Pricing is steep but you get what you pay for. Cannot overstate the importance of that! After asking around for reviews, I came across the Parlour and decided to finally book my hair appointment. I wanted to remove quite a bit of length and was thrilled to work with Miranda. She was great at listening to what I wanted and looking at the photos. She also provided feedback on what would look best. After cutting around 10 inches off, she styled and asked for feedback. I wanted to remove a little more thickness in the bottom and she was happy to do so and got my hair just the way I wanted. I am using a walker and I couldn't find ANY parking and there salon is very hard to find. I am in my 60's and I have gone from short hair to much longer and it looks awful. The gal who cut my hair did a great job and when I got the bill it was over $200.00. The brightening rinse that she had put in my hair was considered coloring which I wasn't told. My hair looked great but I can't afford $200-300 dollars every 6 weeks or so and the place is super loud so that you are almost yelling out your answers to questions. My hair is thick, frizzy, long and difficult. I came in looking for a summer balayage and Brody nailed it. The first time it he colored it, it looked good but wasn't exactly what I had wanted (this was after he had meticulously worked on it for hours). After a few days I called back and he redid it free of charge and it looks incredible. He really wanted to make sure that I felt confident with the look, and he made me feel so comfortable speaking up about it, especially because I am not someone to complain. Right now the Parlour in cap hill is offering a Groupon for a hair cut and Hair mask for around $30. Buy this!! I upgraded to a "custom mask" for an additional $10 and it was completely worth it. I just wanted to get in as quick as possible so I didn't care who cut my hair. They booked me with Henna and she did a great job. Granted I was not getting anything crazy done to my hair, I just wanted a simple blunt cut. But Henna made sure multiple times we were on the same page with the length and style of the cut. She was personable and easy going, I enjoyed chatting with her as she cut my hair. She styled my hair perfectly. The salon uses high end styling products, kerastase and unite. I'm not one to run to post a review on Yelp! unless my experience was horrifying or it was absolutely AMAZING!! I have had my done (color, highlight, cuts, etc.) since the age of 12 and I've only had 4 people ever touch it over the course of nearly 2 decades. I moved to Denver about a month ago and sheer terror set in when I realized I would have to find a new hairstylist, who likely wasn't going to be a referral from anyone I knew. I called The Parlour and explained my apprehension about finding someone new. The person I spoke to set me up with Kelsey and said that she would be a really good fit for me. When I went in for my appt. I told Kelsey right off the bat that she was only the 5th person in my life to touch my hair and no offense to her, but I was a slight (that's putting it mildly) bit nervous. She talked to me about how my last hairstylist did my hair, walked me through all her ideas and the process, took the notes that I had from my previous hairstylist (yep, I'm that person) and made every effort to make me feel comfortable. I knew I was in good hands but I still was holding my breath a bit until I saw the end result. I cannot begin to say how pleased I am with Kelsey. She did an AWESOME job from start to finish, even feeding my meter for me when I was nervous that it may expire. I went to the Wynkoop location first which was an amazing experience! I decided to try out Capitol Hill since it was closer to me. I picked a random appointment with Ilme (which I never really do) but considering all of them do such a great job, I didn't mind. She took her time and did an amazing cut on me! Everything was very smooth, from setting an appointment, getting checked in to leaving the salon. My stylist, Sam, was very friendly and professional! I've gotten tons of compliments in person (and on Zoom!) because of the super sleek bob that she gave me. She really took the time to get to know my hair (last haircut, products I've used, how often I wash, how much time I spend styling, etc) and made sure that the cut suits my face shape.
