Proof they contacted me twice for verification.

I scheduled an appointment with a specific person (I did not want anyone else) two days ago 10/28/19) for 1:15 pm. I received a voice mail confirmation yesterday(10/29/19), as well as a text message confirmation this morning (10/30/19). I paid for a babysitter to watch my two month old so I could get my hair cut and colored because I wanted to feel like a human being again. I also found a ride to this appointment as I am not allowed to drive. When I get there, the receptions seemed as if they did not know what they were doing and it took 10 minutes to even get me checked in. 20 minutes later a girl comes and gets me and takes me to her station (not the girl I requested to be my stylist). Confused, I ask the girl about my requested stylist. She then goes up front to ask them about it and comes back and tells me they double booked the girl I requested and I could go talk to them about it. I get up front and the receptionists are very rude to me and as if I had made the mistake. So, they double booked an appointment with my requested stylist and thought they could send me back with anyone (no offense to that girl it wasn't her fault) without me noticing and did not have the decency to let me know the scheduling conflict when I arrived. This cost me not only money for a babysitter but I also had to find and pay for an impromptu ride home. My cousin (requested stylist) was the one who was supposed to do my hair and that is the ONLY reason I came to a school to get my hair done anyways. Due to past (bad) experiences with Paul Mitchell hair school I would have NEVER came here to get my hair done just for the fun of it. So, not only was this my last option to get my hair done but it was made to be very inconvenient and costly trip and I came home with a bad taste in my mouth and crappy hair. No one even offered any sort of compensation for the whole thing, the receptionist were very self righteous about their scheduling and treated me poorly. When my boyfriend contacted them to ask about it, he was shuffled off to the director and she has not responded. Someone needs to be held responsible for these types of mistakes and if no one respond, I will let every business rating service possible know what kind of dump of a business this is, including consumer protection agencies and the BBB. My whole day is ruined and I feel like crap. Thanks Paul Mitchell hair school I will tell everyone I know to NOT pay for services at this "place of business".

Horrible color job on my mother 1/24/2017. Natural white, supposed to be grey, to PURPLE and BLUE with RED roots. WTF.

Because we get impeccable, attentive service for hours at a time--at a fraction of the cost of other places. They offer various services, but we've especially taken advantage of the hair and facial treatments. People may be hesitant to let students work on their hair, but hair grows back. And honestly, I've found that so-called 'mistakes' often end up with even better results. No one has ever actually messed up our hair. My daughter is braver than I am--one year, she got her hair colored on the day of prom. The color wasn't exactly what she'd visualized, but she rolled with it. We both understand that these are students learning by experience, and we can't expect them to be pros. They try their best, and instructors guide them along. The instructors are experienced professionals who have graduated, worked in the field for a while, and now teach the right techniques. For example, one student was nervous about cutting my hair into many layers. So the instructor took over and chopped away--exactly what I wanted. When you go for hair services, plan on spending half the day there. You need patience so they can do their best work. If you come in with high expectations and rush them, things may not end well. It's a very laid-back environment. Honestly, I could have sat in the chair while my stylist washed my hair all day long. They could have stopped right there and taken my money just for the head massage. I encourage you to try them out. It's obvious people are mostly happy with the results--they stay booked. The facials are scheduled in time frames, and I recommend the 90-minute one. You'll keep going back!

During my visit recent hair appt., my student wasn't able to finish in time and another student stepped in, which felt confusing for them and suggested some unclear expectations from the educators. You're not asked to tip, but donations toward the students' education are welcomed. At $22 for a trim and wash, it's hard to beat, especially if you have long or thick hair. Be prepared to spend several hours, though. They offer small samples of tea and water, which is a nice touch. The environment is very crowded and could benefit from more space; my student was repeatedly bumped into, which isn't ideal when scissors are involved. I also felt some uncertainty around tool sanitation and overall tool quality, though it was hard to tell whether that fell on the students or the school. Overall, it's a great option if affordability is your priority and you're comfortable with a learning environment. I'd rate it a solid 3-4 stars.

The student only consulted the instructor to determine what hair color to use. We talked to determine what I wanted and they they went to mix up the color. During the coloring process, the instructor did a "walk by" to ask if everything was ok. Other than that, no interaction for the rest of my appointment. No consult with the instructor before, during or after the cut. The student asked what kind of cut I wanted and I said just a trim 1/2". The student cut only the ends on the bottom of my hair. She started putting heat protectant on and I asked, "are you going to trim my layers?" She started picking up my hair looking for layers. She acted like there weren't any but I have layers!! She cut a little more, didn't touch my bangs. I was frustrated and finally just said it was fine. Common sense says that the pedicure should have been done first to give ample time to dry but it was done last. Pedicure was ruined when my flip flops were put on. She "fixed" it but simply put on more polish over the lumps. My toes look like 12 year old did them. My student indicated that she would be done in 2 weeks and couldn't find a job. She also said she wanted to be dog groomer but her friends talked her into doing cosmetology. She did not seem to have a passion, skill or confidence for the work she was doing. Seemed to me she has not figured out what to do with her life so she was giving this a go. The instructor was not encouraging nor helpful to this young woman as I would expect an instructor to be. I travel alot and going to an unknown salon in an unknown town is usually a crap shoot. I will seek out a cosmetology school to get a cut and a color and have had excellent results usually because there is unwavering instructor interaction. This was not the case at Image Makers. I noticed the other students were also left to do whatever they were doing without instruction, guidance, or encouragement When making an appointment, I normally will ask for a senior student, however next time I will ask for someone who truly wants to be a hairstylist and has a passion for it. I was excited to try Image Makers, as their website indicates their high expectations for students and that I found that refreshing. Instead I left frustrated and disappointed.

I was acing the class with high test scores. If I asked the instructor questions, she took it personally and talked crap about me to the director etc. Most likely she was intimidated and not confident. One day she actually yelled at me in front of the whole class and demanded I talked to her outside the class. I said no way. I'm not trying to have a conversation with you while your angry and hostile. She was so low class and a drunk. She talked about getting drunk every weekend. Anyway, the director resolved it her way which I was unsatisfied with how it was handled. She refused to resolve it in a manner I would be comfortable returning to class which basically was a violation of the schools own policy and procedures, grievance section. Instead she literally told me not to return. I contacted THEC, COE and reported them to my local WIA career counselor. I did not file a formal complaint because I was so upset I chose to move on from the most traumatic experience I've ever had in an educational institution. You will be wasting your time and money with this wretched place.
