I recently took my son to Paul, and I have to say, it was a fantastic experience! From the moment we walked in, Paul was so welcoming and took his time with my son. When booking my son's haircut Paul asked me about my previous experiences with my son's haircut which always ended in tears. He explained to my the reason why that could have been happening and told me exactly how to prep his hair for when we come to see him. He chatted with my son, made him laugh, and kept the whole experience light and fun. It was impressive to see how well he handled my son who is a busybody by the way. Paul is hands down one of, if not the, best barbers around. I am pretty particular with my hair; I like it a certain way and I get it cut pretty often. needless to say, I am therefore pretty particular about my barber. Paul is the only guy in LA you should let near your hair. His consistency and talent are truly phenomenal. When I saw a chunk of my hair fall to the floor I brought it to his attention. He got nervous and told me he had other clients waiting and rushed me out of his chair. When I saw a missing patch of hair on my scalp I tried to show him, but he tried to claim that my hair was just like that. Meanwhile, the chunk of my hair lays beside him. *Update: after I left my review on Yelp, he had one of his friends send a derogatory message to me (I'm posting it in the pictures section for your own viewing). In the message his pal, Kyler J., instructed me to "go die in a ditch", called me a "liar", and referred to me as a "bitch nigga". This speaks to the utter disregard for professionalism displayed by him and his associates. I was very disappointed by the service, but I'm completely shocked by the demeanor and conduct of him and his people following such an occurrence. Judging by the other reviews, assuming they are real, D'Juan probably usually does a decent job cutting hair, and if you see him on a day when he's inclined to give you a nice cut you'll probably be fine. But if you're unlucky enough to catch him on a bad day and you can expect a ruined haircut followed by his friends sending you offensive threatening hate mail. Very unprofessional, and very disappointing. I'll be reporting this as now this has escalated to matter of my personal safety. Be warned.
