They give such great haircuts, they always have music going so it doesn't get boring. They're very kind, and it's not too expensive.

I came in asking for a medium drop skin fade, similar to what I was used to getting in the military. Unfortunately, the result didn't match what I asked for. The sides were taken much higher than expected, and the blending into the top wasn't smooth, leaving a sharp, uneven transition line. While the staff was friendly and the service was quick, I'd recommend more attention to blending and following the customer's requested style closely. I'm sharing this feedback constructively so future cuts can better match what's asked for. read more

My husband and I moved from the East Coast almost 14 years ago. My husband was first drawn to this shop because of the red, white and blue barber pole and the history of the shop. Denise has been giving him his haircuts. My husband has MS and due to visual problem, misses various spots when shaving. Denise not only gives my husband the perfect cut but takes the time to remove any hair left on his face and trims his eyebrows-without being asked. I sat nearby during his recent cut. I walked out before they could even start cutting me hair. My barber was so rude and I normally can tolerate it but she was also just incompetent. I asked for a low fade to about 4mm on the sides and just half an inch off the top and even it out. The lady didn't know measurements in millimeters apparently but somehow was treating me like I was stupid for even asking??? she also said "does your hair always look like this?" (I had bed head) and I'm just why the hell am I giving these people 50 dollars just to insult me and not understand what I'm asking. Never coming back here, would never reccomend read more

I even learned that a lot of my hair "problems" were actually gifts I just didn't know how to use. I've been going to Oakley's Hair Salon for years now. My stylist is Denise who not only cares for me but also my two sons. It's easy to make an appointment and she works on Saturday and Sunday. It's a large place with plenty of space between chairs and an old style classic barbershop feel to the place. Denise knows how I like my hair and cuts/styles it perfectly every time. In my opinion the first two things you have to nail down when you move to a new city are an auto mechanic and a barber. I dated around a lot... I mean a lot, but I finally found my one and only barber. I would probably commute 2.5 hours to get a cut from Ginger. Oakleys is a barber shop that doesn't try to be cool, it just is! It's as Westwood as UCLA. In fact young scholars, they give a student discount! Sadly I do not qualify, but it's tough to complain about a perfect haircut that only costs $32 in Los Angeles. I've been around and the only place that exists is Oakleys. Word of caution it is cash only! I hope you all find the experience as fun as I do! read more

Clinton did a fantastic job with my haircut. I have longer hair (6 inches or so), and I was worried it would be cut too short. But they did a great job, cutting off the near-mullet I had in the back, cleaning up the sides, and evening out the top. I am very impressed with the quality and service. I had changed my mind about part of the haircut, and Clinton fit me into his schedule the next day at no charge. He recommended me some good hair-care products and tricks for styling too. Clinton is extremely experienced and loves what he does. Very personable; I would talk with him for hours if I had the time. Don't worry, the affordable student price does NOT mean a poor quality haircut, as I am so pleased with mine. I will definitely be coming here next time! DENISE gave me a slanted lineup and left one half of my beard higher than the other half. I asked for a razor lineup and she literally only used clippers. I've been growing out my hair for over a year and came into the barbershop with my hair in a ponytail to make the side fade easier. I specifically told Denise that I did not want to cut any hair off the top or back. I was horrified to come home and undo my ponytail only to realize that a handful of my long hair had been cut by her clippers. I literally gathered it all on white paper and placed my man hand in the photo for comparison. This is by far the WORST barbershop experience I've had! DENISE SHOULD NOT BE A BARBER!
