BREAKFAST TAKE OUT REVIEW We had an office meeting in Norristown, PA, this morning. Our office manager took our requests for breakfast and ordered everything from nearby Pauline's Deli. There were eight of us. I asked for a sausage, egg and cheese sandwich on toasted English muffin. When I arrived I sat at the conference table with an aluminum foil wrapped package before me. It was still warm. Upon opening, I quickly realized that I had a pork roll, egg and cheese on English, not what I had requested. This may not have been Pauline's doing, as I looked around and noticed my associate had a very similar sandwich, but with sausage. It was too late to make the exchange, as he was already happily half way through MY SANDWICH. For the sake of team building, I said nothing. I am not a pork roll guy. Don't care for the taste, nor the texture. Still, I suffered through it, and drowned my disappointment in the hot coffee made in our office. Better labeling might solve this kind of mix up, and a closer examination by the consumer would certainly be a benefit. I realize that it may not be fair to say Pauline messed this up, but I really didn't care for the sandwich. Hopefully, I'll get another chance at the next breakfast session, and be able to judge what I actually wanted. YELP Suggestion - There should be a box to check for take out reviews. It isn't close to equivalent to evaluate a dining in experience with a take away bite. I quickly stop reading take out reviews as being irrelevant to the quality and enjoyability of the exact same meal eaten in these two divergent circumstances. read more

Offering good traditional lunch options literally across the street from the courthouse, Pauline's Deli is a very satisfying lunch option. Day 5 of Jury Duty, and it's time to try a traditional deli counter at Pauline's Deli. I almost didn't go due to the average yelp reviews, but seeing speculation about watered down ketchup resulting in a one star review emboldened me to give them try (because that's stupid). I'm happy to report Pauline's is a very acceptable lunch spot, with a bright seating area in the front windows and lots of booth seating in the back. Service was good once we finally received it, as it took a while for anyone to come over once we sat down. I ordered their Jewish Hoagie (~$8), a good sized hoagie of roast beef, corned beef, turkey, lettuce, tomato, onion and provolone with a bag of chips. There's a lot of toppings that it makes it difficult to fold the hoagie to eat, but that's less of a complaint and just more of an observation. Once I got it to my mouth, everything was solid - fresh deli meats and vegetables, on a soft hoagie roll. Overall, it was a good and satisfying hoagie, and Pauline's deli should be your go-to spot if you want a traditional deli lunch. read more

The staff is friendly and the food is amazing! I have tried so many things and I have never gotten something I didn't like. I had lunch with my son at this restaurant today. The fact that they are located directly across the street from the county courthouse I thought it would have been a good selection. I was wrong. Our server refused to let my son and I have a conversation without interrupting to ask us time and time if we were ready to order as if we were in a packed restaurant. The place was 75% empty at noon until 1:15. I ordered the chicken corn chowder and it was flavorful but cold when served. Luke warm soup on a freezing cold day. I ordered a bacon cheeseburger and it was horribly dry and burnt. Nothing comes along with the small, almost child's size portion for $7.50. My son had a Turkey club and fries and he really enjoyed his entire meal. We both had a soda and the bill was $25. I would have rather we went to Wendy's and spent $15. read more

Miss Pauline has sit down seating inside, as well as offering takeout. The typical crowd here ranges from norristown "townies" to the professionals who work at the court house and the surrounding lawyer offices. As far as the food, its acceptable. Miss Pauline's sandwiches remind me of the sandwiches I would make at home. They're good, but not what I would expect from a pro. The breakfast sandwiches are great, but the home fries always really upset my stomach. If there is 1 thing you try though, let it be the lemon cake (available next to the register). The lemon cake is moist, sweet, and lemony bitter. Its perfect, and is one of the best kept secrets of Norristown. read more

Service was slow. I was told to sit wherever I wanted, after my order was taken I was told to move. Waitress forgot she had even taken my order and tried taking it again. 20 minute wait for a simple salad. Upon receiving it, I was told they done carry French dressing (mind you, it was requested in my initial order). Waitress never came to refill my drink throughout the entire time I was there, and never returned to provide my check. On top of all of that, the chef salad was bland. One of my co-workers made a reservation for lunch for the 12 of us. Got there a little before 12 and the place was not crowded. The waitress was attentive, but there was too many of us for her. It took a while to take our order due to the extra questions. Would you like fries or chips? Kettle chips or regular? Would you like lemon? Do you want a pickle? Some food came out fast, some slow, and some really slow. Ordered the Dirty Harry with chips and a pickle. Love pickles. Pickle not on plate. Said she would go get me one and be right back, never came back with pickle. Someone else ordered blue cheese with lunch, never got it. Had about 5 minutes to eat by this point, sandwich was delicious. Prices were good, everything is an extra. Got yelled at outside by woman with yellow lab in her shopping cart, and numerous other personal belongings, when someone said "hey buddy" to the dog and she flipped out. Would go back and sit at bar/counter for quicker service. If you see the yellow lab, don't call him "buddy." read more

I've eaten at many of the diners in and around Norristown area now I have to say that Pauline's is far superior. While I tend to eat breakfast dishes anytime I go to a diner, I will say that I have yet to have a less than happy experience. The staff is awesome! You're always greeted with smiles when you walk in. More importantly, they make sure you're happy and will do all they can to make sure of it. Sandwhich was fine (though aren't paninis normally pressed?). Service was good. My gripe is they definitely watered down the Heinz ketchup. Seriously? This is where you are going to save a couple pennies? I suspect they poured cheap catsup into old Heinz bottles which is not sanitary. read more
