First time here, while in town for work. Huge selection of craft beer and plenty on tap…read more I got a flight of 3. My favorite was Maine Lunch IPA. I also got a container of the Cajun Mix, which was very good. They have a large outdoor patio area, part of which is covered.

It was a little chilly, but not quite "Ohio" chilly so we sat ourselves outside with a couple of hazy IPA aka Juice Bombs from Sloop Brewery. This brew pub is sandwiched between brick buildings: Stacks, a burger pub, on the right and another commercial building on the left. Across the street is the Police, so be warned, and don't get too funky. We asked if they had food and said no but it was ok to get some take out and eat it at their table or order from Stacks (what we did) and they bring it to your table from next door. Even better. Stacks' mushroom burger and stack cheese burger were very good too. We washed those down with another set of local IPAs called Southeast by Tailgate Brewery in Nashville, TN, also very good. Some of the tables have heating lamps which would have been nice as it got chillier. Not ours. But no sweat. This place does occasionally make their own beer as well but it's primarily a brew pub which sells other beer and canned beer from all over. I'm glad we had a chance to come. Now for the drive home. Thankfully we are less than 2 hours away. Atlanta here we come!

Amazing!!! Went here with my bestie to split an appetizer, entree and dessert. We asked for the…read morevegetarian menu. Our starter: Cauliflower wings (with all 3 sauces, because our lovely server Yassy saw that we were having a hard time deciding on one). Delicious flavor and excellent texture. I was really impressed with how the breading held its shape & stayed bonded to the cauliflower. That's hard to do! The portion size was massive, so we had enough to take home and give to my dad, who really enjoyed them even without the sauce. Our main: Lion's mane mushroom steak. We mentioned that we'd be splitting this entree, so they brought it out already plated on 2 separate plates, with an extra portion for each of us so it felt like we each got a full meal! That kind of generosity is rare in a restaurant. And the food was delicious on top of that. The "steak" was impressively meaty and flavorful, the glaze was tangy and sweet, the Brussels sprouts were crisped to perfection, and the mashed potato just hit the spot. Our dessert: Grand Marnière Chocolate Mousse. Absolutely EXQUISITE. The flavor, texture, and portion were all perfect. No notes LOL. BIG shout-out to our lovely server Yassy for her friendliness and helpfulness! She even offered to take a photo of us when I told her that my bestie was visiting from NY and had never been to TN before! Give her a raise!

We were back in town and ordered the Nibble Board in addition to other food. I don't know what happened, my guess is they ran out of what was needed to make this item. Our meat on the board was 2 slices of bacon (!) and summer sausage. There were no olives. In their place were grapes, several of those were over ripened. The nuts were walnuts which I am assuming are used on the salads. It was a stark contrast to what we had gotten before. My advice would be to ask what's on the board before ordering. Our other food was good, but not great. We'll chalk it up to an off night, but not sure we will return. The lady who checked our order was kind and made sure that we had everything before leaving, so that was good!

You can find Hoptown Beer Bar at 9431 Bradmore Ln Ste 101, Ooltewah, TN 37363. This is in a newish…read moreretail village and while not technically Chattanooga, it's close enough that it may be worthwhile to visit if you're nearby. There's plenty of parking nearby so you don't have to walk far. This neat beer bar reminds me of the crowler shops that you used to find around Atlanta, with around 30 taps containing about a thrid local beer, so you can sample several local breweries without visiting each one (they're mostly not too near each other so this is very convenient). The taproom "beertender" seemed to be fairly knowledgeable regarding the various offerings - there's also a convenient list highlighting the different beers with style notes. We sat at the bar and were able to bring in some food from the nearby restaurants (I grabbed some wings at the nearby Marthie Ann's which were excellent). To drink I tried Hoptown's own Orange Mango Wheat - a somewhat basic wheat beer with hings of sweet tangerine and mango - nothing special. I had a Maine Brewing "Lunch" with the wings which is always a winner - it's an exceptional New England IPA. Service was great - I can see myself hitting Ooltewah just to come by for a break in driving.

I had the "Beer Flavored Beer" that was absolutely excellent and followed that up with the "Crisp AF Pilsner" that was also very good. Tasty and exactly what a beer is supposed to taste like. The do have a wifi, a power outlet or two and a big stack of board games. And lots of beer, wine and cocktails. [Review 18172 overall - 301 in Tennessee - 1694 of 2022.]
