I met a friend at The Press recently and came away very impressed. It's a little wine bar in downtown Cleveland, and next door is Mash & Hops, a microbrewery. There's plenty of seating, both inside & out. I chose a glass of Pinot noir & the pimento cheese appetizer, while my friend chose to get a beer next door, along with the hummus & olive appetizer. We hung out for about 2 hours and definitely saw the place fill up over the course of our visit. Everyone was so kind & helpful! We'll definitely be back! read more

My husband and I chose to come here for a different experience than the usual dinner date. We shared a charcuterie board that was full of things we loved. The caramelized onion cheese was particularly good and I paired it with the 1924 bourbon barrel Cabernet Sauvignon. The staff was quick and attentive. I want to tell everyone about our experience at The Press. We went to try a new local brunch spot. The menu looked great and our waitress was extremely nice. Everything was going great until I asked if they had any vegan/non-dairy options for our 2 year old daughter that has an extremely rare genetic disorder and dairy could kill her. Not that we needed to order anything for her because we carry around a huge lunch box every time we go eat. We always ask just to see options for future visits to the restaurant. The waitress was super nice and went to ask the owner what options they had. She came back with a few things we could order but due to the large amount of food we already brought for her I just decided to order the fruit cup. I always try to order Adeline something, even if it's small, to include her and show her she can go and do anything like everyone else. It also makes my mama heart happy too. We were placing our order for everyone else when the OWNER came out and put a fruit plate on the table and proceeds to say "this is the most vegan option we've got" then she puts her hands up disgusted and said "we don't do all of that stuff around here". The tone and body language is what showed me that my daughter was not accepted here. It made us feel like asking about vegan options was gross. Tears immediately started to spill out and we gathered our things and left. How could someone show no compassion towards a small child?? Making someone feel like they are less than due to something as small as a diet is ridiculous! This is our first rude experience in two years we have encountered about her diet! We have NEVER expected anyone or any place to accommodate my daughters diet restriction. We always bring her enough food to feed multiple kids. Over the past two years I have spent many many hours/days filled with so much anxiety surrounding food. The fear about birthday parties, eating out, family get togethers, almost everything we do is around food. We have overcame all of this fear and anxiety due to so many nice and including people. We do everything now with ease due to our routine that works for us. All of this to say, my mama heart has nick in it. All anyone wants is to be included and someone to be nice to them, especially when it comes to our kids. Will this be the last time this happens, no. The first time just hits the hardest. I hardly ever post anything personal but this one has ate at me. Needless to say we went to our favorite local coffee shop and our family brunch outing was recovered. read more

My husband and I are in Cleveland visiting family. We got here yesterday from California and thought it would be nice to have brunch today. Walked into The Press and the owner, Beth told us she was completely out of food at 1:00 pm. How do you run out of food at 1:00 pm when you open your business at 11:00 am and close at 10:00 pm??? Doesn't seem to make much sense. This was surprising since we looked at the menu online and it appears they serve food all day. I read online that if you only go to The Press for drinks you are cheating yourself. Turns out, the only cheating is the exaggerations of ownership in advertising. Convincing us to waist our gas and time to only be turned away at the door. read more

My husband and I are the hosts of trivia, singo and karaoke for The Press, so needless to say we spend a lot of time here! Beth and the gang are some of the best people I've ever met. Beth's food is always fresh and homemade and I love how she is constantly mixing it up and making delicious one of a kind meals. Oh and her brunch is seriously the best I've ever had. I'm more of a beer girl, but her wine selection is top notch and she also offers a few draft beers plus cans and bottles of various beers and seltzers. The owner has poor people skills. My daughter and I showed up because the restaurant was full of people this morning. She met us in the courtyard to tell us they weren't open because that was a meeting. I asked her their normal hours and she snapped at me saying they are never open for breakfast. I know they are on Saturdays because I had been to a Junior Auxillary meeting there in the past, so when I said that, she snapped back and said, "that is a weekend...YOU are here on a week DAY." There's not much direction about if your supposed to wait or seat yourself and we later learned we had to order at the bar. Once everything was figured out the food arrived it was simple but VERY good for a light lunch. Had the hot ham and cheese with chips. Will definitely go back to try another sandwich. Nice quiet little wine/beer edtablishment in downtown Cleveland. They have a decent selection with fair prices. They also served food ranging from flatbread sandwiches to meat and cheese plates. I had a nice cabernet and a flatbread ham & cheese. It was nicely prepared and quite tasty. I did not feel rushed and the server was very friendly and informative. I would recommend for someone who wants to just step back from the day and relax for a few. I will be back.
