Sales staff is very knowledgeable and helpful! Have their own delivery personnel, overall a great experience!

We purchased a "commercial washer" from this store 1/2/2023. When i arrived at the store I requested to Mr. Paulsen that I needed a commercial washer. The speed queen had been HIGHLY recommended by an employee. Mr. Paulsen sold me a washer. A basically regular washer as it turns out. There were more than 5 repair calls to this washer within the first year. The repair men were always very nice. 1/2/2023 From the beginning they told me that this washer was a "lemon" and should be replaced. It started with shredding the plastic in the wash tub into little pieces. Mr. Paulsen blamed it on the fact we had picked up the washer and installed it ourselves, (They would not have been able to deliver for several weeks.) He blamed it that the feet were on incorrectly. Which they were on as directed. Then repairman then came a week or two later and replaced the feet with rubber feet. The white plastic liner in the washer tub then started to shred, another repair the plastic ring was then replaced. 8/3/2022 the washer would not finish a cycle and had to be frequently restarted there was also a loud grating noise. More repairs .3/19/2024 Then the "jet engine" noises and intensifies grating sounds began. I called them, to inquire about that and if it was ok to continue to use the machine? I was told they checked with Mr. Paulsen, and it was fine to continue to use the machine, this will not damage the machine will be ok until we can get a repairman out. The repair man could not come for a while. When he did come out for repairs, he told me the machine needed to be taken into the shop to try to repair all these issues 3/22/2024 An additional loud noise was added to the symphony of machine noises. I called Paulsen's left a message and there was never a response. I called again and was informed Mr. Paulsen will send a loaner machine to take our machine into his shop to repair all these perpetuating issues. In the meantime, I was verbally threatened (more than once) that speed queen will inactivate our warranty as we are using it at work. If Mr. Paulsen "turned in these repairs, we would lose our COMPLETE warranty. Intimidation attempts were not appreciated! 3/26/2024 Two servicemen from Paulsen's came to remove our machine for repair and give us a loaner. They were very enlightening! When they arrived, they started the machine for about 90 seconds and stated, "The machine just needs to be replaced due to all these issues." The machine was more than half full of water as now it also did not empty nor spin. One of them opened the front of the machine. These are just some of what they told me the found, the belt was shredding, the transmission was not working, and the pump was failed. They proceed to dump the water from the machine loaded it and took it away to the business repair shop. They did leave a loaner ,used machine also a different less expensive model than ours. Also, with no warranty left on that model. THIS IS NOT GREAT SEFVICE NOR IS IT LEAVING THIS CUSTOMER WITH A SMILE. SPEED QUEEN SHOULD REVOKE THEIR ABLILITY TO SELL THEIR PRODUCTS. ASAP!! Bought a standup deep freezer from them when I moved out to Sycamore. It was definitely a no pressure sale and the sales staff were more than friendly and helpful. My freezer was on sale so I got it for a fair price. Overall I would recommend them if you need any appliances in the area. read more

Very Nice people. When our special order refrigerator arrived damaged, they expedited the re-order and Don delivered it personally. The only reason I'm not doing 5 stars is most big box appliance stores will unbox and inspect before sending out for delivery. Which is a good practice. But we Love the frig! read more

Great experience! The folks at Paulson appliance are helpful accommodating and their delivery team is top notch. They worked with me until I was completely happy and satisfied with my purchase and selections. They even did their best to coordinate pick up of old appliances and delivery of new ones with some other work I was having done in my kitchen. We purchased appliances from Paulsen and they were great, but their repair service stinks. We had their repair service out and the guy literally took less than ten minutes to clean the back of the fridge. He said if it didn't work right in 24 hours, "it was going to cost us a lot of money". Who says that? Since we had used them before, just two months ago, he said no charge....but then sends us a bill two days later for $89! We called Heartland Appliance and he cleaned a ton of dirt out that Paulsen didn't do. We called Paulsen to complain...no apology, they were rude. Contacted Paulsen Appliance for repair on a new Bosch range as I was directed by Bosch customer service that Paulsen is a contracted Bosch repair location. After two phone calls, I was informed by Paulsen that they would not service my Bosch range since I had not purchased it from them. Nice customer service, huh. Well I can tell you this, I would never consider purchasing from Paulsen with my future needs. Not nice. read more

Our dishwasher broke and a few months later our clothes washer broke. We called Paulsen's both times. Their staff was knowledgeable, their prices are fair compared to the big-box stores, and on both occasions they installed our new appliances within 24-hours. We haven't dealt with them for repairs, but for appliance purchase and installation, they were great. read more

Paulsen's was highly recommended from a repair guy on my previous washer and dryer. Went ahead and purchased a washer this last April and within an few months the mother board and sensor were bad. It took over two weeks to get the problem resolved. Within a few days the mother board went bad again. I am now waiting another two weeks to have the problem resolved and I have received poor customer service through this issue. The washer is obviously a lemon and it will be interesting to see how long they string this out for. I am currently buying my daughter a washer and dryer and unfortunately they lost my business. I normally don't post reviews but our experience here was one I don't wish upon anyone. My husband and I ordered a refrigerator beginning of September 2020. We had originally ordered one through a box store but because of the pandemic the delivery date kept getting pushed back. We decided to order from Paulsen being it is an actual appliance store and we figured we should support local business. Anyway, month after month goes by. I would say 95% of the time we got an update on where the fridge was, was when I would call Paulsen and then they would call the appliance company. Ultimately the fridge was delayed because of the pandemic and other reasons not in Paulsen's control. We totally understand that. Anyway, April 9th 2021 we get a call the fridge is in. I ask if they can deliver. They tell me it will be another MONTH before they can deliver it. My husband talks to them and tries to reason that all they have to do is put it on a truck headed our way and drop it off at the front of the driveway. They don't have to bring it in the house or install it. They say it can't happen. They then inform us that walk-ins have priority over us who have waited 7 months! Anyway, a few days go by and we finally get ahold of a truck to go and pick the fridge up. As we are going to pick it up, we see a Paulsen appliance truck at our neighbors house dropping off an appliance they bought 3 weeks ago. We were furious. I get the delay of the refrigerator was not their fault, but better customer service would be calling us with updates on our fridge and trying to get the fridge to us as soon as possible once it came in. Not pushing the delivery to a month out. When we picked up the refrigerator, my husband spoke with the owner. They had a good conversation and he seemed like a good guy. But no apologies were ever given only excuses. Overall we would expect more customer service than what we received. We will not be buying anything else or using repair services from them read more

I moved into a new rental, and my dishwasher wasn't working. My landlord sent Paulsen, and they said that I needed a new dishwasher. The dishwasher was delivered, installed and cleans just fine. But the heated dry doesn't work. I've said something to Paulsen several times, and they refuse to look at it because "It's new, so it can't be broken." My fridge was also dripping water from the ceiling, and my landlord sent Paulsen again. I was told I needed a new fridge. Several weeks later (after they originally ordered the fridge in the wrong color), my new fridge was delivered. I wasn't told that there were major dents in the doors until after it was in my condo. I was told I'd get new doors in 3-6 weeks (another appointment at which I have to take off work to be home for). Also, the fridge they delivered opened the wrong direction, so the installers pulled off the handles and put them on the other side of the door... leaving a hole in the stainless steel. Finally, after putting the fridge in, no one checked the seals. The freezer seal was not at all working, and my freezer melted down the next day. They sent out a repairman, but I was pissed because I lost a lot of food. First off, who delivers damaged products? Second, just because something is new, it doesn't mean it works. Third, I think they like to say an appliance needs to be replaced rather than repair it, as they make more money. At my old home, which I owned, the same thing happened with the fridge, and it was a $100 cost to replace a part. I don't think my fridge really needed to be replaced. I've complained to my landlord, and he said he usually goes through Lowe's. I doubt he'll be using Paulsen again, and when my husband and I purchase a property in Sycamore, I'll never use their services. read more

We have sent many customers to Paulsen over the years. They have sent us customers as well. If our customers were not happy, I am 100% SURE we would have heard about it! Every business has some hiccups- being the seller of products and not the manufacturer, small businesses try to work with trustworthy companies. Every once in a while you get bad materials. How the small company deals with it should be the major reason to continue to do business with someone or not. read more
