We've been to Hendricks Park, Clearwater Park, and Mt. Pisgah. There are many different themes to pick from and something for everyone. The counselors have fun camp names like Frog, Root, Tadpole, and Hoverfly. They end every week with personalized notes to each camper from the counselors, which is very sweet. The only downfall is that it is pricey. My daughter only does one week each summer. I really appreciate that they have plenty of staff and that they pay them well, but the cost will probably be prohibitive for many. They have scholarships available, but they cannot be applied to multiple weeks. Next year we will try to budget for two weeks of camp because it is such a great experience and something she looks forward to every year.

None of the other boys did anything inappropriate, it was just me. I didn't even know her or anybody in group for that matter as I joined the group a week or two after they got started. Nobody on the staff believed me or supported me, it felt like everybody believed her, and a week later I ended up leaving. This all happened back in the summer of 98, and here I am 22 years later still bothered and traumatized by what happened during my one week with NYC. I am sure none of the staff members work for this organization anymore, but hopefully the new staff members will support both sides and not judge somebody so swiftly.

I am saddened to say that this YMCA no longer prioritizes protecting the youth in its care, nor the staff they employ. Their new facility was poorly built and threw them into not only debt, but an urgency to make money back above all else. They throw people under the bus to protect the "organization" and no longer prioritize people over profit. Disappointed that it has strayed so far from a place of community. I would not recommend a membership here, and would especially not recommend you work here or enroll your children.
