I've never seen such a chaotic and cramped place. I asked for Batik fabric, and the sales person had never heard of it. When I explained what it is, and that I would like to buy cotton for a garment, he asked what my budget was. This was to me a very inappropriate question, and I was returning to the entrance. He urged me to look around in the store, assuring me that they had solids and I would have to look around. Ebi is a dog. After 2 minutes of me being there he started commenting on my body and looks.. asking me inappropriate questions and being touchy. He offered me a discount for what seemed like an apology but then wouldn't let me go after I got my card out. He started talking about sexual things and women from his country and sexual things they do!!!! I couldn't believe what I was hearing. I was waiting to go for 10 minutes. He tried to keep our conversation in the back, away from the man working in the front. What a complete trash fire. Do not support his small business, there are plenty in the area. What. In. The. World?!?!? You really can't make this up! The owner, Mr. Ebi, came into our home tonight. After fixing our table, he then went on to mercilessly GRILL us (mostly me, my husband a bit as well) for over 15 minutes. He went on to tell us all the parenting mistakes he thinks we are making, in what way he thinks we should discipline our kids, why we should not love them as much, love them differently, and informed us that our children will grow into terrible adults. He even showed us a video of the way a child "should" behave. I understand some people enjoy passing on a nugget of advice here or there. Most parents can let that roll off. But an almost 20 minute lecture with antiquated, cruel "tips" on how to raise my own children is where I have to say, enough. Mr. Ebi, I hope you read this and realize you disrespected me and my family tonight. And I hope you never talk to anyone in this same way again. Your customers definitely deserve better than that. ....I should mention, were our children rude to Mr. Ebi? Did they get in his way? Nope. They greeted him politely, watched him work a little, and then played in a different room most of the time. The reason for Mr. Ebi's inexorable lecture is based on my report that I frequently reupholster our dining chairs. Even though I need more furniture services, I will never return to this store. read more

I had 8 chair cushions reupholstered by Ebi. Although the leather is beautiful, and I'm pretty sure that the quality of the foam and webbing are really good, the final appearance is the opposite of what it should look like. The cushions are totally overstuffed. They used about three times the foam as they should have. The cushions look like they have been over inflated with a high pressure hose. I tried getting in touch with Ebi but he is dodging my texts and calls. I hate giving him such a bad review but it seems that I have no recourse. Now after paying about 30% more than his competitors, it looks like I will have to pay more to have them remade. read more

This place is a Total Rip-Off! While it's true that Ebi is a nice guy, he is not honest. He picked up a chair I needed to have added foam and took it to his "warehouse". When I got other quotes from other upholsterer's on yelp, the quotes were much cheaper than Pavilion Fabric had quoted me (which was $800 for some foam!). I called Ebi and told him I did not want to have him do the chair and he said that it was in the warehouse and that he had started on it. This doesn't make sense because he had said it would take 4-6 weeks for him to get the chair done! So he started on it but it would take 4-6 weeks? Nonsense. He hadn't started it. I said that I wasn't willing to wait six weeks and the very next day, he called to tell me I should come in because he was working on it. I came to the store and the chair was mostly finished. When I asked why it cost $800 to do a job that took at most half a day, he said he had to pay his worker $250 for what he had done. That is ridiculous! He paid his help $250 for a few hours of work? I don't think so. He also said he had come all the way to my place and picked up the chair, as if he did me a huge favor. I couldn't transport the chair to his shop so if he wanted the job (which he obviously did) he had to take it to his shop. I asked for a reduction of $200 in the cost since the work was so quick (and the lies were so outrageous) but the most he was willing to do was $50! I paid him $750 because I wanted the chair back but I have to say, what he did didn't address the problem I came in for. The back is too stiff and makes the chair uncomfortable. So $750 later, I have a chair that is worse off than when I started. Shame on you, Ebi! read more

Quick and Dirty: We had four bar stools that we needed new foam for. Brought it in to Ebi and three days later we had chairs that were better than brand new. Great prices and great service. Nitty Gritty: So we bought a pub dining table and four chairs about five years back. Over time, and with our baby boy using the chairs as a trampoline, the foam padding in the chairs gave way and they became terribly uncomfortable to sit on. Seriously, sitting on the floor became a better option than having the wood frame of the chairs dig into my behind. Turning to trusty Yelp, I came across Pavilion Fabric and sent Ebi a text late at night, around 8:30pm, not expecting a response until the next day. I was surprised when not only did he respond to my texts, but made some time to get on a phone call to discuss what I needed. Because it was hard to really see what the chairs needed, he asked me to bring them to the store and he would take care of me and give me a great price. So I loaded the chairs into my car the next day and took them there. We opened them up and he showed me what needed to be done and explained why one option was better than the other. He promised me I would be happy with the finished product, so I took a chance and left them there for repair. Three days later I got a call from Ebi that they were ready and to come by to check them out. When I went to pick them up, i gave them a solid sitting and the foam felt fantastic. My wife and I had found an old set of dinning room chairs and table for free right before we got married, and put them in storage just for the heck of it...But when we finally moved into our apartment and unpacked them, we realized how bad their condition really was. I couldn't resist. I picked up my chairs today (less than a week for the job) and I was astounded at the transformation! Ebi skillfully cut 6 coverings from 2 pieces of remnant Hawaiian bark cloth. Each chair pad has the exact same placement of the design. You will never see a set of Stickley chairs this beautiful! I first walked into Pavilion Fabric in March of 2006. I had just moved to LA a few days prior and was fortunate enough to score a job interview at Creative Artists Agency (CAA). A temp agency lined up the interview for me, and the last thing the guy that lined up the interview for me said as i left his office was "You better wear a better suit to the CAA interview. Ya can't show up in that." A good suit is expensive so I thought I could buy another cheap suit & have it tailored well! I took my cheap suit to Ebi @ Pavilion Fabric and he made it look great on me! My interview was the next day so he had it ready for me in under 24 hours. I nailed the interview and got the job. I am not saying that Ebi's tailoring skills are why I got the job...but it didn't hurt! A well tailored suit (even if it is a cheap one) makes a man feel good. I felt good...so things went well. 6 years later, I am still a loyal client. My suits are not quite as cheap these days, but even if they were made of gold I would still trust Ebi to tailor them for me! He has never let me down. He always greets me with a smile & always has a funny story or observation for me. He once told me that I looked like I had gained a little weight....he was right! He does more than just create a quality piece (which he does) -- he brings his experience and expertise by helping to guide you and brainstorm great ideas. He brought his experience to the table and pointed out some great ideas, and pitfalls I hadn't considered. He made a mistake on two cushions. Rather than making it right, he said too bad and refused to correct HIS ERROR. I gave him the actual cushions so there would not be any question as to size. Two were jammed into cushions that they ASSUMED were the same size as some others but were not. They were three inches short. Man, I am so glad I stumbled onto this place. I got a really great deal on a dining set. I bought it on-line. The seat cushions appeared to be a nice tan color. When I got the set the seats were bone white canvas and made the set look sooooo low end and tacky! But still a great deal. I checked one upholsterer in Culver City who wanted 110.00 per chair! Yeah tight! So I thought of mixing up some rit dye and painting the cushions black. Happened upon Pavillions and he quoted me a great price (less than half the price the other place quoted!) Ebi did the cushions in a nice looking black faux leather. Absolutely perfect job! Made the set look !00% better! No more tacky-low end at all! I thank God in Heaven for getting me to Pavillions! I'm looking at the set right now and still can't over the improvement! And I can use the set now!!! Then the next challenge we gave him was to fix the cushions that did not fit on our sectional sofa. He had to analyze what needed to be dcne to make the 10 cushions fit together. I saw a sale at the Pavilion Fabric with a sign advertising SALE! It looked small from the outside, but was actually quite large with Fabric rolls virtually to the ceiling. The attendant informed me that everything was 50% off. He was a little pushy, but could be considered helpful. I found the perfect fabric and the owner cut it into the perfect sized panels that I needed. A steal! Everything in the store is discounted 50% and some of the fabric is even less. This is my first negative review on Yelp. Normally if it doesn't deserve 5 stars I don't say anything. But these people are crooks and are not to be trusted. I went in to buy a few yards of simple fabric. The price sounded outrageous, even though he said he was giving me 33% off. The fabric which should be between $4 - $8 per yard he said "is usually $30 but I'll give it to you for $20." Then he rang up 3 yards and tried to charge me $79. For $15 worth of spandex poly blend? Don't trust these people. If you come in looking clueless they will take you for a ride. read more
