Rio Fabric is a good source for curtain rods and fabric (some pre-cut with grommets ready to hang). What I found interesting about shopping in the downtown garment district of LA is that prices are designed to be negotiable. However, there is a bottom line and there is a fact that retailers need to cover their overhead of their cost of goods, rent and employee wages in addition to making a profit. We went to a different store, was quoted a "best price" which was okay and as we attempted to leave, that "best price" got lower and lower and lower where you never really know what the true "best price" is, so seeds of doubt on whether you overpaid or not are always planted in that environment. Here, we shopped, received pricing, knew competitive peer pricing, had a budget, had a certain level of expectations and valuation, and made an offer, which was accepted. We also coupled it with a bulk purchase to motivate the seller to provide a better discount. Most vendors give cash payment discounts, so come with cash, 'tho most do accept credit cards too and charge sales tax. Parking can be difficult but there's paid lots in the area, and the area during the daytime is crowded and feels safe. Overall a pleasant experience. read more

Rio fabrics was wonderful! We called over 10 fabric stores in the downtown area and none carried what I needed. I called Rio, the gentleman that answered the phone, although clearly busy, took the time to assist me over the telephone. They had the batting I needed and said I could just pull up and be done. That is exactly what happened! I was worried about the congestion downtown; but I pulled to the front of the store, he was outside helping customers, I let him know that I was the one who called earlier, he grabbed the roll of batting for me, loaded it into my car, I paid, and was on my way! Great curbside service, almost contactless service (I guess handing him the money was contact) and fast service! I felt he valued my business and I am going to tell everyone about Rio Fabrics! I came across it while searching for a tailor to hem my curtains, and after reading all the great Yelp reviews, I decided to give it a try -- they lived up to every great review! It's a fabric store, but they also do upholstery tailoring. The service was excellent, on time, and reasonable! I've since gone back to have more curtains hemmed and upholstery tailored and the quality, attention to detail, prices, and communication are excellent every time. It's so hard to find a tailor shop that can hem something as large as a curtain and not charge you an arm and leg for it. I can't recommend this place highly enough! read more
