I have now been coming to this pawn shop for years after the St Paul location closed down. I have nothing but positive things to say about this location. No matter who has helped me I've been very pleased with the process but Adam one of their store managers is supreme. Some people just get up and go to work and do everything they can to get through their shift. NOT ADAM. He does not care what you look like but only how you treat him and his fellow coworkers. I ordered online, but the item I purchased came from this location, so I wanted to leave the review here also. I am leaving 5 stars for the customer service I received when there was a slight issue and not making it lower just because of that. They shipped extremely fast, but the packing could have been better since it was 2 boxes taped together. Luckily, the sax I ordered came in a hard case. The description and pictures were good except they missed a dent that was on the bow of the instrument. In their defense it could have been an oversight since it almost looked like it was supposed to be there. After finding this dent I contacted them, and to fix the issue they were willing to pay return shipping AND allow me to keep the sax until I found a replacement. However, in the end, I decided to keep the item, since I had it checked professionally, and it was in very good condition. I was told the dent was not an issue. I will definitely come back and purchase from them if I ever need things like this or anything else I don't want to pay full price for. Considering the service provided, you can't help but to be a fan. LOL Service: I really miss the two girls that used to be at the Pay Day America; we had a report. One was a manager and left to work at a bank and IDK what happened to the other gal. Very pleasant ladies. The new ladies working are pleasant as well. Professional, friendly and quick as well. Ambiance: Similar to a bank... wait in line and you're either getting money or giving some up. Basically if you're in a bind and need some quick money, they provide you with a service to get money, at a cost. Me and my husband used to be regular customers at this location. We would walk in and the managers and other staff would know us. We bought and sold many items. That was several years back. However, I recently needed to get a bit of money until next payday to some extra bills so I brought in 8 PS4 games (Black Ops, VR, etc.) and the somewhat rude gentleman behind the counter offered me $65 for all 8 games. This is not my first time at a pawn shop and certainly not this one but I was a bit surprised. Did I have a choice, no I needed gas in my car and a bit of food on the table. I get what their business is and they need to make money, but come on. Like I said, was a dedicated shopper/seller here, NOT anymore. Recently, any time we go in there, it is not busy. It used to be you could not go into that business without a long line and tons of people in there. Now, so much space in there and hardly any customers. Now, I know why! In addition, almost fell on all the ice in the parking lot by the curb in front of the door. Asked the same somewhat rude gentleman if anyone has ever fallen. I got a look and, "no, only an employee." Well, gee that's reassuring. For someone who works in a place that deals with slip-and-falls, you might want to take care of that! read more

My first time in a Pawn store and my experience selling a purse was great. Felix in Bloomington was helping me. He asked me what I wanted for the purse and I said $60.00. He searched and searched for the purse online and couldn't find it at first and offered me $50.00. I said ok. Then he wanted to try looking it up another way and was successful. The purse was sold brand new for $298.00 and he offered me $75.00 as the purse was in excellent condition. I said yes again. He then said, I'll give you $80.00 for it. This was not my expectation of a Pawn shop and I was treated well and offered a very fair price even above what I was willing to accept. Thanks so much for changing my perception of Pawning. As with most pawn shops, you'll definitely feel the need to lock your car up before you come in the shop. Likewise, you might find a deal, you might not. Me and my husband went in here with 3 items, a authentic LV purse and wallet and a collector's item. Long story short the lady behind the counter was a blonde was very very very rude as was the Asian lady who checks the authenticity of the bags. I went to Pawn Works in Burnsvile and she used to be a old employee at this Pawn America and said that usually the lady who checks the bags tends to say they're fake when they know nothing about your item. One of the Employees was helping me with a few items I wanted to put on loan. I had purchased two of the three items from Pawn America and thought it would be okay to loan them right back to them. Long story short I was told the two items were stolen from a different location, which was a plain blatant lie told to me straight to my face. I knew they weren't stolen. I left and came back about an hour later with proof of purchase. I was given my items back and was told nothing from the guy who had helped me before and who also told me the items were stolen. If I hadn't been able to get a reprinted receipt from the West Saint Paul location then this Bloomington location would have gotten away with taking my items!!! Very unfair business practices. I would like to be contacted by a higher up manager with corporate cause it would also seem that the person I was also being "helped" by and who also told me my items were stolen was the MANAGER... The people who work here are a bit spacey. I dropped in to see what I could get for an Omega watch, and I don't think they know what they're doing. Despite having an appraisal (4k)from a local jeweler, they wouldn't really make me an offer. They kept asking what I wanted for it. I don't play that game. You tell me first, and then I'll say what I think. I won't get boxed into a corner. In the end, I was told to call back after they had time to research it. Okay? Kinda weird considering I had a nice watch. You would think that they would've made an offer. Guess not. It wasn't like a was peddling piker shit worth a couple of bucks. read more

Total scum balls. They bought jewelry which was stolen from me through credit card fraud. The police nailed them for buying dozens of gold chains. Three of them are from me, and this represents months of rent which I can't pay. Instead of returning the stolen property, they paid a lawyer to fight the return, saying that fraud is not the same as theft. It is said that the sins of the fathers are visited upon the children. I am struggling to keep my apartment, and had to take a loan I can't afford to cover this loss and pay rent. Hopefully when the children of these creeps have the same problem, they might develop some morals and empathy. Somehow I doubt it thought. It's very sad that people like this exist. read more

I had to go here a lot recently due to a divorce. I sold most of my jewelry to pay for a divorce lawyer. Divorce is awful, but every time I came into this pawn store, the employees were extremely helpful and kind to me. Fred really helped me out a lot when I was in there a few weeks ago and today. They will work with you on what you're trying to sell and will give you an honest opinion on what the item is worth. I bought a mountain bike for my 15 yr. old son. My son rode the bike home from Pawn Amer. Thank God he got home safely! He told me he almost wiped out several times because the gears are messed up! When I bought the bike, there was no sign or tag on it saying it needed repairs. Now, I talked to the store Mgr. who told me I could not have my 103.00 back that I paid for the bike that could have gotten my son seriously hurt or killed. She told me I could exchange it for merchandise in the store of the same value. Under the circumstances, I think I should get a full refund. read more

First I would like to start off that I have in the past purchased many items from Pawn America and have been treated fairly and with respect. But yesterday's visit to the Bloomington store will be my last. I recently had bought a Laptop that had a few issues, so I returned to the store with my sole intention to buy another one, I found one that I liked but it had a cracked edge, I asked the salesman if there is any wiggle room for the item since it was broken. The salesman who I have bought from before and he was great, went to the manager (Kris Pralle) who came out from the back took a look at the laptop and me and shrugged and said it didn't matter, if it was broken. I asked if he was comfortable selling an item that is broken to a customer who has already purchased a laptop and numerous other items in the past, and was buying another. Now, I didn't ask for a huge discount just what I felt would be fair, for purchasing a broken item. Kris said it didn't matter that somebody else will buy it. Now when a manager of a chain of your stores looks at a customer who has purchased in the past from your store and is comfortable with selling a broken item, what does that say, was he saying didn't like me for some reason was it the color of my skin or he doesn't care about selling broken items to the customers of Pawn America. You'll have to be the judge of that. I can say this, I will be posting this to every blog possible, and will never shop at your store again. read more

This place sucks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They don't even acknowledge you when you enter the store despite there being nobody else in there and at least 3-5 people working. The first time in the past 2 weeks I've been there was with my BF who was putting a MacBook on a loan and we had to stand in "line" behind the register counter despite there being just one other person in the store at the time that apparently required two employees to help her and another employee running around doing random tasks around the store. NOBODY even acknowledged us or greeted us, which I found rather rude. The second time in the past 2 weeks that I've had the displeasure of being there, I wanted to put my laptop on a loan however the woman that finally helped me (after waiting 10 minutes in a line, consisting of just me and this time i saw at least 5 people working- not counting whoever was in the back working) took my touchscreen laptop (that I had already turned on at this point to move the process along) and decided to "clean" the screen off with her sleeve causing my sensitive touchscreen to respond to her rubbing motion- meaning it was bouncing back and forth for about 20 seconds. Because it did this, she immediately "freaked out" and said no to taking it. Now, I purchased this laptop brand new from Best Buy in September for school. As I haven't returned to school yet, I've used it at most 10-15x as I prefer my tablet more. So, its in "like new" condition. I explained and showed the woman why the screen reacted the way it did and she still said no but she'd ask her manager in back- which meant she stood in the doorway of the backroom and the store front for 15 seconds before turning back to me and saying no. I feel like not only does the CUSTOMER SERVICE SUCK here but the staff is POORLY TRAINED and doesn't understand that by improperly handing items such as what this woman did, they loose out on business for the company because they would have made interest off of doing this loan I wanted- and i get not wanting to do a loan on a defected item but the only reason why this woman thought it was defective was because she was clueless on handling the item. I was incredibly angry after waiting over 10 minutes just to be told so callously that my almost brand new laptop wasn't good enough- almost like they didn't take it seriously. I will NOT be returning to this store ever again because of the mediocre employees and their lack of training. read more
